I love everything about Coinbase and what it stands for.. However, you all are making it hard for me.. To compete against Robinhood, Cashapp, Tdameritrade, and soon to be Fidelity; please find a way to get rid of these fees to buy into the market.. Maybe keep the selling or converting fees.. But, we need more people in the market and the fees are not helping.. Please go public soon.. Merge with Square or buy them if possible.. Or, merge with Facebook as that would allow Basebook to be an industry leader in crypto and p2p transfers and transactions... Most important, I currently use yahoo finance to manage and see my average cost and gains or losses for all my different crypto investments.. I would love if Coinbase would incorporate my average cost per coin.. Also, add in my daily and total gains and losses.. I should not have to use a third party site to manage investments that I purchased on your site.. Lastly, please add custom alerts for all of the crypto’s offered on the platform... We only have the ability right now to set custom alerts for three assets and again I have to use a third party site for the others.. I would love for Coinbase to be my source for everything crypto.
My go-to for crypto.
I love this app. Of course, just like everyone else’s I’m sure, I’m not really crazy about the fee spread they charge for buying. I could understand keeping the fee for selling, but It’s really big deterrent for most people I’ve met that are interested in learning how to invest in crypto; and with coinbase being the most user friendly/informative exchange for beginners in my opinion, it almost seems like it’s pushing away a target audience of people that are very interested in investing, but hate to see their hard earned money chiseled away on the front AND back end.
Another thing I would REALLY like to see is a widget for iOS that shows your portfolio balance. Obviously it’s not too hard to open the app and see it, but I really like being able to monitor my watch list in correlation with my portfolio from my Home Screen, and that’s something that Robinhood knocked out of the park.
Other than that, I really have no complaints. It’s a great app for people interested in learning about crypto, crypto news and the basics of making some good money by investing in the future of finance.
Beware of Coinbase
When I first bought bitcoin through Coinbase it was put on a 12 day hold. The funds cleared from my bank account after 3 days, and I had to wait 9 more days before I could do anything with my currency. I contacted customer service, and the representative said he didn’t know why my funds were on a long hold, but made it out like it was because I had just created my account - a fraud prevention method. So I accepted that, and decided I wanted to buy more crypto today. I went on the support page and read through the guidelines again; it said I was able to transfer or withdraw once the funds had cleared from my account - so 3-5 days, possibly 7-10 if there is a weekend or holiday. Fair enough. So I bought some bitcoin, and now it says it’s on a 12 day hold! So apparently that’s the default on my account every time I want to buy any crypto. What?! No where was I told that my account would have some default holding period, on the website or by customer service. I know that it will again clear from my bank in the next 3-5 days, then I will just have to sit on it for a week or more for no good reason. To top it all off, I’ve been emailing customer service and it’s like I’m not even talking to a human. They just give these generic, scripted responses, whereby they reiterate the same guidelines I previously read, that are obviously false! There are plenty of services out there that are way less of a headache; save yourself time and stress and use a different wallet!
Coinbase is a horrible platform with horribly indifferent customer service.
Trying to use coinbase was a nightmare for a week. I downloaded the app, linked my bank account and signed out. Then few minutes later, I tried to log in and kept getting this error, “the operation could not be completed(CBErrors error 0)”. I tried to sign in with my phone browser and it worked. But, with the app I repeatedly got the error. I found a phone number from the support page and realized there was no live agent for customer support. It’s only for account compromise support. I accidentally chose the account compromised option and my account was locked right away. I explained this including the error message issue to support several times through email. They said nothing about the error message but directed me to their support page for account recovery process. I went through verification with my driver’s license including selfie but in vain. My name is written slightly different on my driver’s license than how it’s written on my bank cards. So, it wasn’t accepted. I emailed them again a few times. They simply promised that someone would reach out to me but never did. People’s hard earned money can get trapped and be never recovered in my opinion. It didn’t seem like coinbase really cares. There’s no way coinbase is a safe platform. They also have the worst customer support with zero willingness to fix it.
Terrible Customer Response / inaccurate gains in balances
There are many things I like about Coinbase. Easy and intuitive interface, easy of trading between currencies, etc. But as I got more savvy in my trading and started tracking gains, I’ve found discrepancies between increases in currency rates and my balance. In other words, I would track the time in which I had made trades and calculate the amount that my balance should reflect. I found almost always that it was off and not by a little, by a lot. This is alarming to me as I see that there is real potential for fraud within this platform. In addition, I’d sent a transfer of funds from MY Binance account to my Coinbase account and after a week, I have yet to see those funds deposit to my ETC wallet that I’d used for the transfer. I’ve sent multiple customer service requests since then regarding the transfer both to Binance and to Coinbase. Binance has gotten back to me sharing the blockchain record of my transfer to my ETC Coinbase account indicating that I would need to remedy account receipts with Coinbase. I reached out to Coinbase and then have yet to respond. This was not a small amount. It is not okay for them to have inaccurate gains reflecting in account balances and no response on transactions that should have cleared over a week ago now.
I will be filing a complaint with SEC outlining these discrepancies and their failure to remedy them.
Generally great, but with issues
I mostly had no problems, but the loss of $25 litecoin because of an error & dropping my card limit for no reason given, has really bothered me. I am now wary of transactions. Plus, $100 a week limit‽ I'm not waiting what can be weeks from the bank. They took cases on both and didn't do anything. The first though, before these cases, they were really helpful, when losing money. So, at first I thought that they'd be able to help me with the litecoin, and at least my card limit. At least send me back the value of the lowest amount on the day I withdrew or something. Just something, and $350 (I think it was) was at least something I could work with. Now, I'm going to have to use multiple exchanges. Just a sugesstion. I really enjoy the Coinbase earn, but doing the the order of the rewards makes you think you should take them first, nope do not do that or you can't get rewards. Then the wording can be misinterpreted unless you read a link in a link that explains it first, which is unintuitive. It's courteous to do earn, but saying the opening up new lessons thing made no sense. Otherwise, it's an excellent way to trade low values of money. It's just you have to be careful.
Great App but sub par customer service
If I was only rating the app I’d give it a four out of five. Great interface, easy to navigate, clear instructions etc. but I’m having a horrible time trying to get my account unlocked.
Here’s the story. I had a notification from my bank that Coinbase just initiated a withdrawal from my account. It was suspicious to me because on that day I didn’t put in any purchases in Coinbase. I sent them an email telling them about this to see if they could give me more clarity about the situation. They emailed me back and locked my account in case it was compromised, which is great.
The problem is is that I discovered I made an error thinking that the withdrawal was suspicious. I made a withdraw over the weekend and I didn’t get the notification until the following Tuesday and that’s why I thought it was suspicious. Now I’m waiting in limbo land to get my account unlocked. It’s been over 24 hours which in crypto world is an eternity because of the volatility involved with our investments. I haven’t had any clear communication on when my account will be unlocked and what steps I need to do to make this happen. The only communication I’ve received is that my problem has been passed off to a specialist and they’ll contact me when they have more information.
Be aware of this scam
I’ve invested over $45k into crypto using this app,followed their identity verifications the first day and my account was verified and my security moved to level 3,a week later it was showing my account is under review and I wasn’t able to use it for months,I contacted support many times,not even a response,there is a phone number that it’s only for locking up your account in case of identity theft or if your account is compromised.
My account went under review again for no reason three weeks ago,I lost so much money because I wasn’t able to trade,or even send crypto to another Walet,since then I contacted customer service 7 times only got one response saying they have many requests for account reviews but they are going to rush my process,last week got an email saying you’re ready to invest(meaning they verified my account) and at the same time got another email saying your account has been reviewed and it may take few days to review your account.
I keep asking the support is there a terms and policy that I’m not aware of or what is the reason that my account has been reviewed many times,still no clear answer.
Not sure what kind of scam is coin base running here but it’s so frustrating and there is no customer service.
Move your business to Binance or Robinhood,this place is a mess.
Decent but deceptive
All very fast and professional, right up until you try to cut your losses. Bought bitcoin with the intention of selling it a few days later for a (tiny) profit as more of an experiment than anything. I sent in my license photos, linked my bank account, and got everything verified. Bought a couple hundred in btc. A few days later the price has gone up a few hundred and I try to sell- to find my funds placed on a ‘24 day hold’ to ‘prevent fraud’. What?? If this is common practice, they certainly went out of their way not to mention it, and if it isn’t, I can’t think of any reason why they would have flagged me or my transaction as suspicious. I have now sat and watched the btc price plummet over $1,000 in the past few weeks. By the time I’m able to access my money I will have lost much of it. I understand that btc prices are famously erratic and I accept that I would have lost a little bit, but with every day I lose more and more of MY money which is being held from me. Incredibly disappointed with the lack of clarity in this matter. If it were not for this ridiculous, month-long freeze on my transaction, I would be very happy with this app. The layout is nice and the verification was fast and professional. However, any app that forces me out of MY money without forewarning is NOT a winner in my books.
Coinbase is Amazing
Most of these bad reviewe are pathetic, i have been with coinbase for over a year and thw only issue I wver had was verification. Customer service toon a few days to respond but explained, i can use my prepaid debit card through Metabank but cannot use my Metabank account to withdraw funds. I have been paid, recieved my funds, within the given processing time. Maybethese users did not fully verify theor accounts or maybe they used VPNs and from non-permitted countries, but also the most recent reviewers, beed to understand last week was a holiday week and this week there is new years day so many businesses customer service will not be available and responses are delayed This included coinbase. Also maybe read their FAQs and agreements and see what is not allowed because buying crypto not approved by them, is in a sense, not okay and it even states it in their system. So do not blame them for uour stupity. I would rather use coinbase over Blockchain whuch is way harder to ise, transfer, exchange, and most of the wallets dont work
