  • Very poor compared to Square

    Have had PP for years and years for eBay and forum transactions. Started to use recently for vending business as an alternative to Square bc of a rate increase. Customer service is VERY poor. Transaction processing time is 3-4 times longer than Square. If you are a vendor with occasional transactions, it would be no big deal. But as a vendor who often has a line of customers waiting it has doubled my service time per customer. The hardware constantly disconnects from app and you have to turn it back on and wait for it to connect only to find out that the app has signed out and requires time for another log on. Calling customer service is a joke. The voice menu won’t give a choice with my issues. Choose another category just to get in to talk to someone, you can’t get past the voice system. After hold times, and calling back multiple times to an invested time of 40 minutes, you get a CS person who can’t help you, and transfers you elsewhere where you hold again. When you finally get a real person, they put you on hold because they don’t know how to help you and then you find yourself disconnected. At least 3 or 4 times in your journey to this person, you have given your complete customer information, so you think maybe a conscientious CS rep will call you back. Yeah, right. Call back thank you.

    We use this app to manage and take payment for concessions for our booster program. We are run by volunteers so it is a different person taking orders every time. I like that it is easy to use and doesn’t need much explanation but wish I could store more than one menu at a time; we do not always serve the same items at each event. I went to a scan method to make transactions go faster and love that I can store the barcodes but hate that I have to recreate my menu for every event. It would make it much easier if I could store items in the app and pull them up to create my menus. Maybe there is an update in the future that will fix this. Otherwise this is a great app for us, people don’t carry much cash anymore and i felt like we were losing sales before we started taking the debit and credit. It’s also nice to go back and look at previous sales when planning the next one.
  • Good app, needs more features and flexibility

    By and large, this app supports my small business needs; multiple user profiles is a nice feature. However, the differences between the iOS & tabletOS are odd. The tablet has an option for creating a specific set of items that you want displayed, the phone does not. It would be nice if you could create multiple sets of item lists to have available for different venues. I would also like to see the cash option come back to the fore when presenting payment options. I get that PayPal doesn’t make $ on those transactions, but don’t making usability difficult. Lastly, I would also like to see the list of checkout items come back to the fore as well. Hiding them behind the available items is not helpful.
  • Glitches and freezes

    Simply hate the new upgrade with lots of freeze moments. Has to restart all the time after each transaction. Customers is complaining about the processing time. And, we have been having lots of issue about tips too. My customers never tip but at the end of the transaction and the tip were added automatically and my customers are furious because they thought that we added the tip without their authority. And in some case customers added tips but at the end of the processing screen it shows that no tips were added and customers has to pay tips in cash. The tip column is on the same page and a lot customers said that they don't see it there. Overall, we love the previous version much better than this one. This is driving everyone crazy especially for those who used the older version
  • Works Great, Never had a problem

    I have been using PayPal for many many years now. Never a Problem with them or the PayPal app. The card reader I use with my apple iPad has never had any issues. Customers Credit Cards did though. Not enough money. Lol. So if you have a problem, look at your device or your internet provider. Not the PayPal App or card reader. I just have the old free reader that plugs in the head phone spot. Haven’t even had a problem with it taking a chipped card. Money is in my account before the customer leaves. I will always use PayPal. No other!
  • Dependable and easy to use

    I’ve been using this app for at least five years and it has worked great for me. I do art fairs all over the country and this app and the chip reader have been very dependable. My only problems have been when the app and the reader don’t want to connect, or when the cell signal is poor or the network is overloaded, which is not the fault of PayPal. The only weird glitch that keeps it all from functioning properly is when I have the chip reader plugged into a battery pack—it won’t complete the transaction as long as it’s plugged in.
  • SO much better than Square!!

    I have been using Pay Pal for a about 16 months and really like it. Transactions go through with no problem and the money is in my account before the customer leaves my store!! Once I learned that keeping the reader charging will help it to connect with no problem and then stay connected, it seems run well with no glitches or hang ups. There is one thing that happens that I can’t decide if this it is an app problem or an iPad problem. It goes along fine for hours and then suddenly the reader looses it’s connection and I have to reset the iPad. I don’t use my phone often enough to know if it has the same issue. I am just now setting up the checkout feature. I have run across a few things I can’t figure out how to set up, but I am just beginning and if I can’t figure it out, I am not afraid to call Customer Support. I recommend PayPal to everyone I meet that needs merchant services!

    I love the App. It is easy to use and process transactions. I think a change should be made for adding items to my inventory. My option items are listed alphabetically and if I add anything new I have to delete everything and start over to get those one or two items in correct order. Should be easier to add items in between others without deleting anything. Other than that I’m a happy customer thus far
  • Love the app

    We have a brick and mortar store and i love how easy the app is to use and how easy it is to get my reports. I wish that it had some more features, like being able to accept multiple payment types per transaction (like partial cash payment, and then the rest on a card). And I wish there was an option to discount only one line item instead of the entire transaction, or to be able to do multiple discounts if one item is 25% off and another is 50% off. That would make seasonal item sales easier to process. But for what it can do I really like the program.
  • Pretty useless 👎🏽

    I was using the iPhone app version because the iPad version doesn’t have the portrait mode, and I need the portrait mode for my stand and business. Now both the iPhone and the iPad versions cannot connect to Bluetooth on the iPad. Meanwhile, I have two different Paypal contactless readers. The first (most expensive one), they ruined by updates, I cannot use it like I used to because the charge procedure is forced to be done on the tiny reader instead of on the iPad like it was before. Whoever is in charge of Paypal Mobile Transactions is ruining the experience and driving users to Square. I know, I’m one. What a way to sabotage a business! I’m just gonna suspend this for good. It’s been so long unfixed, I don’t think Paypal has any plan to ever fix the problem. Goodbye!
