  • Customization Doesn’t Work Anymore

    By Ify101
You can’t customize your search AT ALL ANYMORE! I used to be able to put quotations around a word like this “word/phrase here” but now google completely ignores any type of customization or quotations. What’s even more hilarious is that they’re discarding the use of THIER OWN TOOLS for date customization, so now when I try to use last month or year costume search is gives you a completly different year! So good luck trying to find any accurate search results that aren’t full of advertisements when using google (hint: you won’t). Google used to be the best browser in the world but now it’s useless. The algorithms they have directing people towards searches is incredibly flawed. These algos quite simply don’t work in letting user see what we really want to see, instead they direct you towards what they think you want to see. All the tracking Google’s done over the years has now made them think they know what you want to find out & learn better than you do. And the result is a consistently flawed search engine that doesn’t even let you customize anymore because their advertisers pay them too much. And Google likes to pretend that the only ads on their front page are the ones that are clearly labeled as Ads but anyone with commonsense knows that’s not true. Websites are clearly paying to be on the first page and while that works for them, the result is that now Google is completely unusable.
  • It’s nice but...

    By meh_crazy
I like google. It is nice I guess with all of its stuff and all that. When I got the app I thought “oh sweet google lens” and I opened google lens when I got google just to check it out. It is the next day and now I can’t seem to find google lens. And before anybody saids “ oh it is that symbol next to the microphone” there is no symbol anymore. I can’t seem to find it and it is annoying me because this is the time when I wanted to see what plants or weeds were in my garden but I can’t now. I tried looking it up and it still didn’t work. Now it saids I need to get google photos. I need my parents to accept my request for the app and usually they just ignore it so this is really annoying that it saids that this app has google lens then google lens just disappears. If somebody can tell me how to fix this problem and not have to get another app that would be great. Thanks!
  • App keeps shutting down!!

    By Aepalisades
This is a new problem. Started today. I’m not sure when my app updated but it says it was new last week. I’ve gave zero issue before today. Tried shutting down my phone, and deleted the open windows from my iPhone when you swipe up from bottom of phone. Neither helped. Please fix it. It was my goto app to use internet for searching. Now I dislike it so much I’m ready to delete it if it’s not fixed soon. There’s no place in my life for an app that shuts down when I’m searching internet, shuts down when I’m scrolling through old pages and deleting them time and again because it shuts down mid deletion and never actually deletes the page. Thought I’d update my review- it still isn’t fixed. Shuts down constantly. Can’t even barely type in my search info and I read a few options down below and poof. It’s all gone. App just shuts down. I am using iPhone XS. Please please please fix this horrible problem. 5/6/20
  • One Tiny problem.. but love it!

    By Lilaliona77
I’ve been using this google app for as long as I can remember because personally, I find it less cluttery than safari. I typically don’t like having a search history on because it’s just too much to clear out once it accumulates and google has allowed me to do that seemlesly for the longest time, but now I’ve come across the issue that I have to manually switch browse history off every single time I open the app, because the search I’ve done from one prior time, is still on there. I hope it’s just a bug and can be fixed because I don’t want to have to manually switch over every single time I use it, where as before, you did it once and you were set and good to go up until this most recent update. Thank you google!
  • So helpful, but the unwanted cards need to stop.

    By Ryleigh K
I love using Google for anything. It helps with so many things I need to do whenever it comes to research for a school project or just looking up the news. What is starting to really bothering me is the repetitive “custom” cards that show up in my feed. The day before writing this, I was talking about Chris Stapleton with my mom since she likes his music. Less than 5 mins later I get an article about him in my feed. Coincidence or not? This has happened multiple times. I always get stuff in my feed that I don’t even like. For example, I’ll get something about Elon Musk. Do I really want to read something about him? No. I always hit “not interested”, but it always pops up. I like the feed feature. I just wish it was more customizable.
  • New update AWFUL. Google image search useless.

    By MeghanSmith917
New google image search is TERRIBLE! The sole reason I search for images is to see IMAGES, and only images. I do not want to see the text, or a ton of white space. I liked how the old google search app showed images only. I purposely used this app when searching for images as chrome doesn’t display image searches the same. Chrome shows the text. But now, not only is the text required but am unable go full screen with an image (and hide the text when tapping on it or rotating my phone). This is awful for viewing images because phone screens are not that big and now it only shows up on half the screen. Please bring back the old version or at least make it an option that is easy to select on the screen (not hidden in layers of menus within settings). This is extremely frustrating and disappointing
  • Google business

    By foote properties
I am a local google guide and enjoy being able to review businesses and seeing what others have said before I use a service or company myself. I believe the future of google maps will allow us to do 3D VR tours of businesses and add them right on google street view to be able to walk right inside the front door and look around the store like if your were 3D touring a new home to purchase. I have already started capturing virtual tours of rentals I manage. And look forward to the day that they can be added on google maps to walk inside if houses for rent or sale and businesses that allow virtual tours to be available. Watch a wait.
  • Losing pages.

    By kokokaylee
If I’m on a page and I have to either step away so my phone goes to sleep or switch screens, it resets to the homepage search bar. Not all the time, but enough that it’s incredibly irritating. I’ll have to scroll all the way back down to where I was (I love reading comments on articles, so sometimes it’s a lot of scrolling) to continue reading. This has only become a problem in the last few updates, I believe since the overall look has changed. Sometimes the page I was on will be completely gone from the history as well, saying I have no browsing history when I clearly do, as I was JUST reading something. Then I have to remember what I searched and the title of the article. Apps are supposed to be streamlined, quick & beneficial. I might as well read on a computer. Fix this, please.
  • I’m disappointed

    By Amy Sweetwater
I know people may not have a problem with this but my google is being annoying right now. So usually when I would search up images, it would show some other images once I click on it. Then I have the option to save and that. Now every single time I click on a picture, it sends me to the website on where it’s from. I don’t want the website, I just wanna see the picture and save it on my camera roll. Now it’s annoying how long it takes me save an image. I’m always seeing the website with its picture. I sometimes like the other photos under that image I search up. I sometimes wanna save them. Now? it takes me at least two-four minutes just to save a picture. I just want my old google back :(
  • Good as Expected but...

    By mcgrottydanny1
This app basically does exactly what you’d think a Google app would do. For that reason, it’s a fine app. I deleted this app though because I didn’t see the advantage of keeping it when I could just use a mobile browser to search on Google. I wouldn’t even think twice about downloading this app again if it incorporated just 1 specific thing... the first is that I wish this app had a reverse image search feature similar to Pinterest’s. Google already has a reverse image search option for non-mobile users (PC, Mac, etc.) in the browser, but the Google app doesn’t have this function for mobile use. So I would think that a reverse image search right on your mobile device would be brilliant. I would probably delete my Pinterest app if the Google app had this function.
