Best Adventure Games/Puzzles (No hidden object)

Haiku makes the best adventure games with the most interesting puzzles. The time they take crafting the story, puzzles, and characters ensures that you are going to get a superior product without paying and minimal advertising. They are well above the major Adventure/Puzzle game makers in quality and originality. If you typically burn through games and are used to the every week releases “free to try, pay to unlock collectors edition” hidden object/puzzle games you might be surprised that a small independent game company has set the bar. Don’t be. Haiku doesn’t put out weekly games, the put out great games. Until next time Adventure Escape or Solve It, bravo! Can’t wait for the release of Haunted Hunt again. Long time fan. (Trapmaker, Allied Spies, Time Library) Note to developers: Please, color blind mode. Red/green cb affects many males. The neon light puzzles kill me. Neon green or yellow? purple or blue? You are not the only developers that have this issue, but you might be the only ones who would care enough to come up with a solution.

    Excellent and Thank You.

The mini-game puzzles in these stories are the best I’ve played. For example, in “Dark Ruins” the swimming in underwater caves game, the blocking the alligators with a gate game, the creating a path through croc pit game, etc. are so fun to play because you have to try, fail, accumulate knowledge, try again, etc. so that when you do “win,” it is really satisfying and fun. Add to that - the mini-games are just plain pretty to look at (like the gems and casings mini-game in the “Pirate” mystery), cleverly fit into the overall story “plot” (rescuing kidnapped partner game in “Dark Ruins”), and often unique (dumb-waiter game in “Pirate” story). So, whoever is creating and designing these, if anyone ever rolls their eyes at you because you make games for a living, know this: I live in a “hotspot,” I take care of and worry about an 88 yr old parent in my home and I worry about a 19 yr old who went off to a college dorm. I worry almost all the time. But, I find I can take my mind off things for a while when I play these games. I truly need and appreciate that. So, kudos to you.

    The best.

I only like escape room games. And Adventure Escape mysteries encompasses everything I look for: the point and click, interesting story, amazing illustrations, mini games/puzzles, challenging enough. Though I have played and beat all of them, they have gotten a lot easier for me. My only complaint is that I wish they were longer and there needs to be way more games by this developer. I finished Psychic Squad last night and was very impressed (especially since the protagonist has my name lol). The story was very interesting. I was explaining the story to my boyfriend and he was intrigued. Even mentioned how it would make an interesting movie. They can be a little cheesy, but who doesn’t love cheese? Lol. I have been looking all over for other escape room games like this, and I have found a few decent ones, but AE definitely set the bar high. And it’s free! Just get it. You won’t be disappointed. Just make sure you download this one first because some of the stories in this one are available to download in the App Store.

    Exceptionally high quality

I’ve been playing adventure escape games for years and there is really nothing quite like them available in the App Store. The quality in the content and the graphics puts their games well above any mobile games I have played, and when I look for other games to fill the time between AE releases I am always disappointed. Even the model they used to introduce ads and the keys to unlock chapters was done very fairly. Almost every other mobile game I have played has near constant ads and AE does not. Also, I kind of like that the key system prevents me from playing through the whole game super quickly. I enjoy the games so much and they do take time to produce so I can appreciate slowing down and enjoying each one a little longer. I don’t usually write reviews but I feel like some of the other reviewers have been really unfair. Haiku puts out really good games, with very few ads, that can be played entirely for free. I’m not sure how anyone could ask for more.

A sincere but reluctant five stars

You see, I love the haiku mystery games. They’re worth my time and twist my brain so I don’t become dull. But with this one, I have one problem that I consistently find: the stars that help with gaining hints are hard to find. Don’t get me wrong, it keeps my eyes peeled so if I do need a hint, I can get it. However, unlike the keys that are supplied over time, they aren’t and have to be found little by little as the game goes on. And to add on to the worry of finding them, they are carried over from other mysteries in the game. This is where I falter on giving the game five stars. The hint stars are harder and harder to find and I have a hard time weighing the facts of buying the stars with money or just trying to figure out something that seems impossible for the next few hours, much less days. It could be operator error on my part as I may not catch on as fast as I’d want or something like that, but I think that it would be something to consider.

Have played since the beginning, Still love the game

I never leave reviews but I think that this game deserves one. I have played all the adventure escape games multiple times and I was actually very excited when the developers released a collection of games all together. It is important to know that you have to wait to play each level, or you can pay to buy keys earlier. There are some days it’s frustrating to have to wait, but you can go back and play mysteries you have already completed without waiting. In my opinion this is not a p2w game, there is not that long of a wait period before getting your next chapter for free. While it would be great to have everything unlocked for free right away, this game is an amazing quality and to be able to get the all the levels without playing is completely worth not being able to get them all right away. I can’t wait for more levels!

    Loving this game

Really it should be these games because it’s many games in one app. I’ve played the beginner modules and one of the intermediate modules so far and I’m having a lot of fun. I admit when I’m tired I’ve used a walkthrough to get me unstuck, but most of the time I know I just need to hunt a bit longer for the next clue. Some of the puzzles are easy and some more challenging within the same story so the difficulty varies which I like, they don’t just get harder and harder. The storylines have been fun. I like that I can watch ads to reduce the wait time on keys. Normally I’m very stingy with in-app purchases, but I really feel that the developers have made an awesome game and deserve compensation so I will be purchasing keys occasionally. I do wish the modules were either grouped by difficulty or had something to indicate at a glance beginner/intermediate/advanced without having to read the description for each one.

    Awesome Escape games

I’m so glad I decided to play your Haiku Escape games, cause usually I like the more realistic style Escape games. But these are so rich with color, texture, story lines, dialogue, and especially game play that I have become hooked on this style of Escape games. I think the puzzles and challenges are very unique and thoughtful. I salute the person(s) that put the logic together for these games. They are geniuses. I can play these games for hours and not get bored or run out of puzzles and challenges because there is a continuous storyline, that keeps me interested and engaged. I like that there are different levels of difficulty too. But even at the “beginner’s” level the challenges are difficult enough to make you think (logically and “outside the box”). Which is what I think an “Escape” challenge should be all about. So keep them coming Haiku. You’re doing an Awesome job keeping someone as mentally picky as me challenged.

    It’s actually really interesting

I’m really good at escape games & in all honesty my dream career would be investigative work in criminal activity. However, choosing to have a family was more important. That set aside, these games have to be immense to even keep me going. I’ve been “stuck” several times to say the least & I'm not certain if a couple of those moments were my fault or the lack of information given on the games end. So whichever way you look at it, this game is on a streak of not wanting me to uninstall it, that is for sure. I play & play until I figure it out, & trust me... that alone can make you want to lose it 😂😂. No, but really this game is infatuating at first and becomes almost too much to walk away from. ALSO, I’ve purchased one package for $5 that seemed worth it. Don’t just waste money on games unless you have money to waste. Great game. You won’t be disappointed. At. All.

Nice games in one place, conserve your stars.

Haiku games full games have always been fun although I hate some of the puzzles that take forever. The games are free and are supported by ads every now and then. For AE Mysteries, several of the games are in one location. There are 2 free keys that are used to unlock and play chapters (one chapter one key). Then the keys have I think a wait time of 3 hours to refill a key. An ad will play while the chapter is downloading or loading. The chapters remain unlocked even if you don’t finish it in one go, so you can use the next key to unlock a different chapter in another game. Stars are not as plentiful as the standalone games, so I recommend saving up so you can use them for the puzzles that you hate. Alternatively, you can use an online guide to save you stars. Unless you really want to get through an entire game in one sitting, it’s not bad waiting since the chapters are defined and you won’t forget where you ended. Also, pacing yourself means less waiting for new games to come out haha since keeping occupied. The only “game” I’m not fond of is the puzzle pack one which is only made of puzzles because I like having a storyline as opposed to only puzzles, but those puzzles are essentially a collection of puzzles from the other games.

    INCENTIVE TO DO MY SCHOOLWORK‼️

I speed through schoolwork and reward myself by playing Haiku games. I have been able to stick to my intermittent fasting because when playing Haiku games, I have no desire to take a break—just to eat⁉️ The puzzles ARE NOT easy. These are challenging games, and they are lengthy. MY ONLY ISSUE is the money-grabbing behavior of the app when one wants to skip a particularly brain busting puzzle. You will not be allowed to skip the puzzle; you are supposed to purchase stars, keys and the like. One might end up paying far more than the game is worth. Hey, Haiku📣 Lose the casino interface and just charge what you want for your wonderful work. The cheap-looking ads and stellar objects flying across the display take one’s mind off the actual game. People will still buy stars, keys and hints because people want a chance at winning, even if they have to pay for it. I noticed that Big Fish Games has raised its price for similar fare; they now charge $6.99 per game. If I want the game and I am willing to pay $6.99, then I will buy the game. I like playing both Haiku and Big Fish games, but on my terms.

    A few constructive notes

I’ve been playing your games for many many years way before there were any keys or stuff like that. So it’s a little disappointing but I get it but now you have keys primarily because it kills the storyline and some of the older stories you had to remember things from past chapters in order to solve that chapters puzzle. But like I said I get it. Could you please make it so you can have more than two keys at a time even on other games like candy crush you get 4 “lives.” Also I have noticed that I am always able to connect to the Internet to buy stuff but not to watch the free videos to speed up time. It keeps saying no Internet connection. Also what’s the timer for refilling the ability to be able to speed up time for free. Mine never seems to refill. Idk if that’s a glitch. Other than that cool new stories, I really like the incorporation of star charts and translating symbols. And I would love to see more optimistic story endings/ or if they have a sad ending for them to say to be continued so there is some hope. I loved the scary story concept but the ending was frustrating. It needed that assertive optimism like in the cop stories. Also at the end it would be great to see what would have happened if you made the other choices with storyline structure and characters. Also I like the incorporation of instructions in the “?” Bubble. Keep it up!

    Don’t waste your time!

I don’t normally write reviews even for games I cannot stand. I downloaded this game because of the reviews given. Why I say don’t waste your time… you are not given enough information to complete a task. The levels listed as beginner are still crazy hard to figure out without buying clues. You are left wondering what to do. Clicking on anything and everything to figure it out. Some things if you sit and think about it are easy, but most things until explained in a clue you are left dumb founded and stuck. You have to BUY the stars. You are only awarded stars when you complete a level or find a hidden one. But because too many times in a chapter you are left… what now you cannot continue. As a beginner you should have a few entry level games that gives you plenty of clues until you figure out how you, the developers are thinking. And can move on to less clues. Your explanations are pitiful. I would be satisfied with at least having to watch a video to get stars. You can do that with keys but not stars. And stars are what you need to get clues. You are forced to BUY THEM! The graphics are great, but not worth any money. Before you know it you will have spent 100 and nothing to show for it.

    Gratuitous much?

During this unprecedented time in our global history when we’re all inside thanks to the Covid quarantine, my escape room partner and I have had to content ourselves with online escape/adventure games. We thought we had hit on a nice compilation with your series. We played many of them and found them clever albeit slightly average in difficulty, but all in all a nice way to consume some time. Then we landed on The Covenant and have mutually decided never to play another of your games again. Murdering animals, gratuitously and for no truly good reason, and in a way that defies explanation and good sense might be fine for some, but it’s not for us. Animals used as a source of food is one thing, but to watch an animal suffer and die a torturous death is something that should never be put in a wannabe fun and mindbending escape game. Of course, with The Covenant, you crossed so many lines of good taste that we hardly know where to start. But the murder of animals is sufficient. I advise you all, everyone on your team, to rethink your strategy and rethink your collective mindset toward murder, gore and gratuitous nonsense… especially when it comes to innocent creatures. Bye bye.
