This game is SO COOL
I love this game so much! This is my first time playing a Haiku game and I loved it so much! However, there’s one thing I would change. I don’t know if you can replay levels and if you can I don’t know how to, so if someone could tell me how to do that if it’s possible, or if the developer could make that possible if it’s not already, that’d be awesome. Other than that, this game has a great storyline, and I’m actually really impressed with it cause when I was around 7 I had this other murder mystery game and it wasn’t that interesting, and this game legitimately made me feel scared at some points, so CONGRATULATIONS! That’s what I like in games like this, soooooo yeah! I would definitely recommend this game to other people around 10ish cause I think it’s a little too scary for a seven year old, but I could be wrong. I think that lil seven year old me would have probably not played this game a lot cause they’d be so scared but not 11 year old me, nope nope nope. Anyways, great game! Byeeeeeee!
The Only Game I Never Delete
My phone has always been my favorite source for gaming. Most of the time, I download a game and play for a couple days (sometimes minutes) and then delete. My rational for deleting is pretty standard. I either get fed up with excessive ads that take up as much(or more) time as actual playing, having to watch ads/make purchases to progress in the game, or I get bored with the same monotonous tasks repeatedly. These frustrations have never been an issue with this game. I am constantly engaged with new worlds and puzzles. The only ad I am required to watch is while the new game is loading. Yes, I have the option of watching ads for bonuses (extra hints, unlocking levels quicker), but it’s never a must. I can safely and confidently say that this is the game that has stayed on my phone and has been played the most of any other game. It’s fantastic!
Can't get any better!
I've played every one of the developers games, and this one BY FAR is the best!!!! Has the most interesting story line, is very engaging, exciting, and not too challenging which I like. I wish all escape games had a story line !!! Overall it's definitely worth getting, even though you probably will finish the game in about an hour and a half ish. But for a free game, it's totally worth it!! There weren't a ton of ads like other escape games I've tried, which I LOVE! You don't have to pay to unlock levels, another plus :D Whoever made this app I give applause because I've never had an app filled with such rich material that made me run to get back to it. (Whether it was free or paid!) I look forward to its future apps.. Only criticism I have for the developer is I wish the levels and the game was longer. Especially when it's ones like this that are so great ! ~ Best of luck.
So far so good/Update: 5 Stars
I’m glad that I read the other reviews here. Knowing I can go back a level is SUPER helpful. I’m just beginning but like what I see. I DO wish there were a “reset” option for some of the games (like the dog figurines) so I can go back and look at something if I need to. It seems true for password-based-locks, but not other things. Also I wish there were a “what now?” button for dialogue, especially if characters leave the room. Some will talk while I’m looking at something else. It is NOT as clear to me how to get (not purchase) stars as it seems to be for other viewers. I’m gonna give this a 3.5 for now, but I learned that early ratings don’t generally prepare gamers for the hard stuff. Update: I just finished. While there were some frustrations along the way, (*pouring two things at once*) overall, this is one of the best adventure games I’ve played in a long time. You might want a pen and paper handy (I don’t mind that at all, whereas others might.) I really enjoyed the gameplay, including working things out on paper. It was a lot of fun to figure out. The story was a good, solid ghost story, without being over the top—closer to suspense than horror. I wish there were more games like this, very much like early adventure games.
Great game as is all of their games
I found this one through AE Mysteries (which I decided to give a try after seeing an ad for it), and so far it's fairly easy. Some of their games and puzzles are very difficult, some would say stupidly so (I'm thinking about one of the Trapmaker 3 puzzles in particular), but others are easier. No matter the general rating, all of them have puzzles that can be easier or harder depending how strong you are in various logic puzzle skills (ex. minesweeper segment for one of their games). It's all fun though, and if you give it some time it all works out in the end (whether that's via your own brain power or assistance from the online community). Definitely recommend these games if you like mysteries and puzzles of all sort of varieties.
Very good game!
The storyline is good and brief (I hate when the dialog goes on for pages after pages!) but thorough. The graphics, while not truly realistic, are very good and I think keep to the “feel” of the game. It’s fairly easy to find the “sparkles” that help you towards hints (just remember to look for them before you solve the level!). I found that for me, I had to leave the game for awhile and come back to clear my mind as I got so into solving one of the puzzles (and couldn’t) that it was making it hard for me to see the solution. But that’s not a bad thing! When I came back to the game, I literally wizzed through and finished it in under an hour. I thoroughly enjoyed the game and will be looking for more by this developer! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Fascinating & intriguing
I just started this mind-puzzle game, having read the previous reviews. I am also an avid fan of these type of games, and in agreement with the some of the aforementioned reviews, I too find some of them more "Find the object" based and that gets old fast. This storyline is compelling, the setting intriguing and so far I am all in. Just finished the first chapter and it does indeed cause one to pause and figure things out. I love that! Don't make it impossible. Don't make it a pushover waste of time. But make it mysterious and difficult enough to keep me interested and on my toes. Bravo, because you've done that! Can't wait for the other chapters and figure out how it all ends!
Perfect challenge!
Fun, colorful, creepy game. Rare gem on the App Store. Used to play these games back in the early iPhone days before the annoying in-app purchase ones became the norm. Graphics are nice with just the right amount of difficulty and enough hints if needed. Doesn't eat up my battery either. There are some science related puzzles and memory retrieval challenges but will quickly get the hang of it as long as you pay attention and don't rush. Wish I could save my progress mid chapter and not have to start all over if I have to exit the game before completion but otherwise I love this game and can't wait to check out the others by Haiku Games!
My 4th Haiku game...
*Ok. Just completed the rose puzzle in chapter 4. It really does help to quit a level and go back one or two to play and save stars. I only needed one hint to solve the rose puzzle on my second try. Am kicking myself for not seeing that one. If you use hints carefully, or replay a level to hold onto stars, it's more than possible to play through and not spend a cent. I never pay for stars. Patience is the key. I'm getting the hang of these games. I was able to complete two of them, but not the other two. Deleted them out of frustration. But I'll re download and try again when I cool off :) I'm figuring out that if I keep starting over and save my free hints once I learn the first few chapters, by the time I reach a really tricky near the end, I'll have enough stars to get me through. The only inside games I don't care for are the physical ones where you have to patiently draw a line along a rope--in a mirrored box-- or shake your device. Don't care for those at all. These do require patience.
Not a robot
Pretty cool, creepyish game. Point of the game is that you’re a twenty-something woman with memory loss waking up in an asylum. The object of the game is to find and save the mysterious little girl from the killer-which is another inmate that has escaped. And the ending is sad but satisfactory. The puzzles weren’t easy nor difficult, although I had to have my sister help me with the safe in the kitchen. Most of the time, the clues to solving the puzzles are the objects you’ve picked up or the random messages scrawled on the wall. I do have two complaints: One, near the beginning, I was told I would get five free stars if I submitted a review. I did just that, except I never saw any of promised free stars. And two, the game doesn’t automatically save your progress in the middle of a chapter. If I exit out, I have to start the chapter all over again. What was I supposed to do, play it all in one sitting?😆
Great and complete game!
I enjoyed very much the game, which was unexpected for me. I love this type of games but I’m not impressed easily. I liked the story, I enjoyed the different types of puzzles and minigames offered, and I was thankful it had an ending. On the downside, I hit “hint” more than usual bc sometimes I started a minigame and couldn’t understand what you expected me to do. But after the first or second hint for 0 stars (which are more an explanation than a hint), everything went smoothly. One thing that I’d prefer was if there were a number of how many of the same item you need to gather beforehand - the trains for example. It would be nice to know if I got them all or if I still need some before starting (or trying to start) a minigame. But overall is a great game and I cannot wait to find more from you guys! Thanks and congrats!
Chapter 1 Review Requested by Developer
Request by developer to leave review to earn 5 free stars (= Hints) after finishing chapter 1. So far the game is proceeding fairly effortlessly- Usually I play these games (HO, “puzzle adventures”) on iPad but so far playing on iPhone 8+ is working well and controls are easy to manage. The narrative theme is more compressed (less detailed- speed ease moving through rooms) than most Big Fish Games I have enjoyed, however I have appreciated Haiku games in past and so far I want to continue playing. One star missing for request for review after 5 min of game play...seems a bit hasty to request authentic opinion after 1 chapter but that is up to the developers to risk requesting such feedback so early. Hopefully the game will continue to motivate me to play as such forth.
Engaging enough
Great time killer with puzzles that are engaging without being too difficult. Nice to have a game you know you actually completed unlike many other puzzle games that get insanely difficult towards the end, where you either give up or rely on walkthrough. Was able to get thru the game in one sitting without any outside help. That was possible because the puzzles difficulties were just hard? enough without feeling frustrated and tedious. Kinda got me motivate to see how fast I can finish the game. Btw, to someone complaining about the music sheet puzzle, if all you had to do was find the sheets and read the music, what's the point of having the clue with "?'s" next to each letter? It's just another element in solving the puzzle as opposed to just reading the music.
Okay I guess
I've only played two chapters, so this information may not be valid. In chapter one, which was two short by the way, I was like "I hope it isn't THIS easy the whole time!" but in chapter two, which was also too short, I was Plesently surprised. I was super confused. I did have the Ah ha! Moment right on time. I was happy that I spy gave me a good brain work out. On that, I would like to say that I usually play more detailed games like The Room. So this quality was really a step down for me. I feel what happens when you find an object destroys the frightening factor of this game. It's hard to feel as if this is not a game, but another world. Along with the finding objects thing, they journal makes no sense to me, why are my past notes suddenly appearing out of nowhere. On a good note I love the art and the sound track.
