Such fun
You know those reviews that tell you: I never use the hints” or “ l finished it in a day”? Well, this review isn’t one of those. I use the hints regularly and I have been playing for several days and just completed chapter 2. Real life gets in the way of moving faster, at least for me. The story line is kind of fun, but let’s face it, one does not expect classic literature. The puzzles are what is fun, for me. Many I don’t need hints, allowing me to feel really smart; others not so much. The puzzle resets to the beginning if it is not completed. There is another opportunity to feel smart, one can race up to where the puzzle was left. When an action is correct the action is frozen so I don’t waste time trying to put other parts together when it is already done. Energy buys hints, or actual money. Energy refills could be offered daily, developers. Also, sometimes things are stuck in storage, frustrating. The pool balls took for flippin’ ever to complete, wouldn’t move and wouldn’t go in the pocket the first 3+ times. A fix here would be great. At any rate, that is a negative for me. Overall, this good entertainment for busy people who have a bit of time here and there. Thanks for all the hard work.
LOVE these games!
I downloaded the first game while I was waiting in line at DPS. I honestly did not think it would be anything special because it only had 1k reviews, and I (wrongly) assumed that meant not many people are interested in these games. I’m so happy that I downloaded because I was hooked within minutes. I’ve now played 4 other Haiku games and starting the 5th one tonight. I can’t choose which story line is my favorite because they are all so wonderful. And I’m very pleased that the puzzles are different in every game, each story has a puzzle I haven’t seen before. Wonderful job !
No WiFi Game
This game plays like a escape game, but it has a plot with cutscenes (hence, Adventure Escape). Many of the puzzles can be solved with ease, but the developers leave enough difficult puzzles for you to try and figure out (the hard puzzles are usually at the end of a chapter). You can find and collect stars to use as currency for answers, but try not to use them unless it is necessary. The best part (of course) is you do not need any WiFi to play this game. Haiku Games craft their apps rather well. No disappointments so far.
WORTH THE TIME
I have played every single game these developers have ever released from start to finish. I love all of their games so much and there really is no other apps like theirs. I wish I could figure out some way to be notified every time they release an app bc that’s just how good these apps are. I am so obsessed with haiku games and wish there were so many more of them as they are extremely addicting as well as challenging. Download their apps, I promise you won’t regret it.
Escape Room Meets Mystery
I have played dozens of escape room and logic puzzle apps. I typically don’t find myself playing mystery games with plot lines but I really enjoyed this one. It is actually the second one by this developer. There is a wide variety of puzzles and the clues are not always what they seem. Many times it takes going one step further in your deductive reasoning to solve a puzzle. Well done and I look forward to playing more games by this developer.
Thanks!
Great game so far. I’ve been enjoying the Haiku games and this is probably my fourth game I have downloaded. My only problem with this is that I hope the developers can solve a little problem that could really be helpful. In the little puzzle games that require us to make connections to open doors, for example, it would be really helpful to make the pieces lock once they are in the right place so that if the puzzle is especially difficult, the player doesn’t get discouraged and frustrated. Plus, it helps move the game along. If the developers could do this with ALL their games then I probably wouldn’t mind playing the games over and over again.
Just got this
I’ve been enjoying the game so far. Had to use the hints before I got the hang of the game which has me at a more difficult level and being unable to finish an area because I don’t have enough stars to get a hint. I probably wouldn’t have used the hints earlier if there was a little more explanation in the tutorial. So that is a bit frustrating. Overall I am enjoying the game, but it’s not a game I will be able to use to just relax... and that is ok if you want to puzzle through a game. I just wasn’t really sure of what to expect from the reviews I read and the lack of info in the tutorial.
Great game and fair
This is a truly different and captivating game. A little slow, but better than no clue what you’re doing. Lol. No timer so you go at your own pace. Nice! Only problem is that it’s not always clear how to proceed next. Using stars for hints is fine, but they are hard to accumulate and costly to use. Nonetheless if you have a little patience you will move forward It is very engaging with an actual storyline you can follow. Difficulty is medium. I like that you actually have to think. Only finished the first chapter but thoroughly enjoying the experience You need NOT SPEND MONEY to progress. Highly recommended!!
Perhaps I'm just not smart enough
The first few chapters are great! I have to think, look around, remember, but I'm eventually able to solve the mystery. Sadly, for me, around chapter 4 or 5, I start getting lost and frustrated with the complexity of clues. I would appreciate some sort of rating..."Hard, Harder, Impossible"...that way I could choose a game I had an outside chance of completing. Just a thought. Overall, I appreciate the fact that Haiku gives us these wonderful games free of charge, and there are many to choose from...I just wish there was a way for tired brains to have a chance of completion.
Fun, attainable, playable
I really enjoy mystery puzzle games but have had difficulty finding the time to commit to longer games. I love that these are shorter and can be fully completed in a few days. I also appreciate not needing to have energy or lives or anything to keep playing so I’m not forced to take a break when I don’t want one. The puzzles are clever and really make you think, although I do find that one or two have been a little too unintuitive for me (glad to have those hints!). Overall, love this series of games.
Good puzzles and storylines.
The puzzles and level of difficulty of puzzles were challenging. I enjoyed the premise of escaping from a cult. But it was hard to feel that things were ever too dangerous for the protagonist when the Muzak is light bubblegum elevator/pharmacy midis. It didn’t really jive. In this case the game had enough cognitive dissonance between the actions/theme and the sounds that I had to just turn it off. I wanted something darker. Also everybody looked like they were out of a modeling magazine. I would have expected people to look more on skid row than off the pages of GQ or Maxim. Big Fish games have done well with creating sinister environs with creating scary immersive environments. I think more time should be examined here. Not sure if you want to have some hidden object game (HOG) elements to find some of the essential objects to build the MacGyver like contraptions to escape the danger/predicament.
Great but please change the following!
I really liked this game and it was super creative! However, there were a few problems I feel need to be reexamined by the creators. Unfortunately, I could not save the game at the point that I was at if I had to walk away. Secondly, the map was very confusing once I entered a new chapter. Especially if I had walked away, and restarted the game, I was not sure where to click next. But there were times that it led me back to the map after I was finished with a level and I still didn't know where to go. It was not clear.
Enlargement, mobility and help.
It’s okay but needs some improvements. I don’t like not being able to enlarge & move around the scenes to search for objects. It would also be nice if you provided a sentence or two of basic instructions for the games/puzzles instead of us having to buy hints. If we can’t solve em with that, then we buy the hints. And finally... I, personally, like the hidden object game, but so far I haven’t seen one. So, in short; a couple instructions per game, hide n seek games with at least 10-20 objects to find, with ability to enlarge and move around to search rooms throughly (inside drawers, luggage, closets, purses etc). Make house more intriguing, secret panels, doors, hallways, ceilings etc; insert items within them; a 5-10pt mini-game, free hints, pnts, clues etc.
Disappointed
I'm VERY upset that I WASTED HOURS playing this game and i close the app ONCE and I'm reverted from chapter 8 back to chapter 3. ALL PROGRESS LOST. I was enjoying this game until I reopened it to have LITERALLY ALL MY TIME WASTED. This may be a glitch but it's very upsetting. I don't even know what the ending is like because I am NOT going through all of this puzzles a second time after putting my time and effort into it. Not okay, app developer, not okay. (this is not the first adventure escape that has this problem. Time library reverts back to the beginning no matter hpeuch progress I have made every time I close the app.) I want to ENJOY these games in my free time and I shouldn't be punished for having to put the app down to so other things.
