Beautiful, and benefits outweigh the cost.

First of all, the stunning art style must be addressed. It is probably one of the games with the nicest graphics. The animation, though slight, still helps bring the whole thing to life. The graphics are super realistic and have an almost surreal quality. Then, there’s the interspersed comic-like scenes, which are also beautifully drawn. I would highly recommend it just to experience the art. Now, I mainly wrote this review to address the concerns people have about this app: namely, people complain about the energy, and that it takes too long and the developers want money. First, although the energy runs out fast, the system’s improved and you can simply watch a video to gain 20 energy. Doing this repetitively makes it very easy to get though parts of the game quickly. Secondly, there’s nothing wrong with watching those ads; it’s a relatively short amount of time for the fun payoff, and the developers do need money. There’s nothing wrong with that, especially since the payoff is good storylines and stunning visuals. That takes a lot of equipment and, more importantly, talented artists who need to be paid. Labor is expensive, and that’s fair. The developers are far from being greedy about it. Ads are a small price to pay to experience this lovely game quicker.

Murder in the Alps.....NO NEW CONTENT. Says Coming Soon?

Update: energy is much better. But new game content....only says “Coming Soon”. When is it coming? This game has great potential, but it is a game for developers to only make money buy getting players to buy energy and strategy manuals. The game would be enjoyable if it did not take forever and a day to get energy. You can wait a whole day an not get enough energy to do anything. The game starts with 400 energy. Then you can earn energy by connecting to Facebook, and liking their page, and a 1 time free energy. After that there is no way to get energy unless you purchase more or wait days for enough to play for less than 5 minutes! It takes the enjoyment out of even bothering with the game. Can’t even play 5 minutes without the energy running out. Who in their right mind would pay any money on this game when you can’t enjoy playing it long enough.....No using my money on this money hungry game. I signed on today and found 2 items in the hidden object mini game and all the energy was gone. Good riddance! This game has no freebies to get energy. Money hungry game. They don’t even give you much time to like it enough to want to spend hard earned money on playing it. Good luck to those willing to pay. Update...now have ways of earning energy. Thanks.

    Enjoyable

I very much enjoy the storyline of the game. The characters are also pretty likable (Otto is my favorite). The art style is also very nice to look at. There have been changes for how the scenes are played out in the new chapters (I like the way it was played out before in the first chapter). The main feature of the game is its, find the hidden objects, mini game. But it also has other mini games (like finding a path or trying to unlock a door) that turn up from time to time.v The energy system is quite a problem, with 30 to play out a scene and needing at least 80 energy for the search and deducting 5 energy when you freeze the screen from continuously pressing on the screen too much (while searching). There are also some other instances where you’ll need 5 - 20 energy to do the smallest of things (like grab a crowbar to open a box). A 200 energy bar as a maximum is indeed too little for things like these (not to mention the wait to gain back all of that 200 is at most 1 day and a half). Although I do like the addition of watching videos to gain energy, which I use until I run out of videos and gain at the very least 500+ energy as each video gives you 20 energy. Though the game has that as a flaw, I still enjoy it and will continue to play.

    Energy frustration

I also enjoy this game a lot. I like that the hidden puzzles are interesting, but I like even more that there is more to it than just hidden puzzles. The only thing I do not like about the game is that it is an energy hog. There is no reward for finishing a puzzle, in spite of the fact that it costs 5 energy every time you find an item. Conversations that you listen to cost energy. It seems everything costs energy and there are too few ways to gain the energy back. I am not against paying for my entertainment; after all, someone is working very had to develop this game. But I purchased the $10 energy pack and it lasted me less time than a it takes to watch a movie. So I am hesitant to spend that much for so little enjoyment, Also, a few times I was in the middle of a hidden picture when I ran out of energy. After waiting several hours I came back to discover that I had to start it all over again, basically wasting the energy from the first attempt. Now I do not start a hidden puzzle without making sure I have five energy for every item I need to find first. I suggest more rewards for accomplishments, less cost in energy for moving through the game, or less cost to purchase more energy. Please balance this better; thanks for the fun!

    You’ve seen this before

Now before I get started, I just want to say how much I positively LOVE this game!! I’ve been looking for a good game like this for awhile now. Its not like your normal crime games. The story is awesome the graphics are awesome and the fact that you can interact with everything is a huge plus! Now…onto the things that should be fixed. Now it shouldn’t take 26 hours total for me to have a full 200 energy. Now I get maybe like 19 or 20. But not 26! Also, everything in this game cost energy, you use hints it uses energy, you watch the story you cannot skip it uses energy (which I don’t recommend skipping because it’s a good story), and you look into items it uses energy, etc plus it takes no time flat to use all your energy and you want us to buy more energy for it to be gone in a blink of an eye. Now I wouldn’t mind buying this game honestly with how amazing it is. But seriously you guys should do something about the energy stuff make it shorter time to wait for it to restock or make less use energy. But other than the whole energy system this is an awesome game. Keep it up.

Best and Worst Game on The App Store

This game is by far one of the best and worse crime mystery/hidden object games available on the App Store. Visually it is amazing but the worst and most disappointing part is the amount of energy needed for every little thing as well as how long it takes to regenerate. I don’t believe it should cost so much for more energy when it’s utilized so quickly as well as the ridiculous and minimal energy you’re given after so long of waiting. Then when you’re in the middle of a hidden object scene and run out of energy, you have to spend all your regenerated energy again to do the same things you’ve already started before. It does not pick up exactly where you left off. For example, If you are in a hidden object scene and have already done a few tasks and found items but run out of energy, none of what you found before that is crossed out, stays crossed out so you have to waste the same regenerated energy to even try to get passed what you have already done. Why should it take 30 energy to watch a scene or open a door? There has to be a way to get free energy elsewhere. You look so long and hard for collectibles and when you finally find one you only receive 5 energy which does no good for the amount needed to do anything at all. This would be the perfect game if it offered free energy or daily spins or any incentives for how much energy it takes for tasks. Other than that, great visuals and presentation!

Awesome Gameplay w/o Energy to Even Play

This game has great character storylines and amazing graphics, but I’ve had the game for over a week and have hardly been able to actually play due to how quickly your energy points are used and how expensive it is to replace them. You can only access points at no charge by subscribing to the game’s emails or linking your Facebook account. I don’t have a Facebook account, so I only received 50 free energy points. This is hardly enough to get you through a single scene. If your energy runs out in the middle of a puzzle, be prepared to start the puzzle over from the beginning once your energy is restored. I understand apps need to make money. I’ve spent money on several games, but always knew my spend was justified by the value received. I was able to get about 250 energy points for .99 during a promotion. It took less than 5-10 minutes to use that energy. It doesn’t make sense that each item you uncover on a hidden game requires multiple energy points. If the energy point system was more reasonable, if there were more ways to earn free energy points without the 24-28 hour wait, or if energy points were less expensive, I’d easily give this game a 5 star rating. Games like this should be either priced on the front end (purchase app) or allow more opportunities for users to accumulate points at no charge as well as making points more valuable.

    We all agree

This game is so fun but the character periodically needs energy and it throws off everything. I just walked in and saw the corpse but the moment is ruined because I need energy, and can’t progress until I have some. Just let us buy the game and not have to deal with the energy restrictions. Having to wait is really a bummer, but oddly it doesn’t matter if you don’t play for a day or a month, when you get back you will have earned the same amount of energy, which is lame. Also, are just going to sit here and act like home girl doesn’t have the stickiest fingers we’ve ever seen? She’s asked to find a knife, but she’s actually taking your curry. Maybe if she ate some she’d have enough energy. The puzzles that make sense (like fixing the phone), those are good ones; but I can only play so many games of ISpy: robber addition. (I’m not going to lie and pretend I didn’t enjoy playing solitaire, I just don’t know what the point of it was). That all being said, these characters are super fun. There’s one death from the first game I’m still upset about and I’m several games later, you start to care about these characters! (The animation is slowly declining in quality though, the first chapter gave each character much more detail, which I really appreciated. (Spoiler: Anna and Walter would have made a way better couple than Anna and Luigi, just gonna say that. But if you kill Luigi, imma be mad. )

    Phenomenal game, but...

I love this game for many reasons. First, the atmosphere is amazing. You really feel like you are in their shoes and even in that time period. Second, it feels open at all times. You always feel like you can move around a decently large area. Third, it is not just a hidden object game. You also play interesting mini games, move around between rooms, and talk to people in the environment. It is more than just levels. Fourth, the hidden object part are really cool. It is pretty interesting to be able to look closer at things and interest with drawers and whatnot. There are so many reasons to love this game. As much as I love this game though, the energy system is seriously terrible. I don’t always hate the energy mechanic in games, but this is simply way too much waiting for not nearly enough playing. If you made the energy regain faster, even if it just went from 1 every 8 minutes to 1 every 5 minutes, that would be a significant improvement. I stopped playing for a few hours, came back, and could only tap 4 items. That is ridiculous. I’m still rating this 3 stars though, because the rest of the game is so great. If this is fixed, then this will be the easiest 5 star rating I’ve ever given. (Also, if you added a one time purchase for unlimited energy, I would buy it in a heartbeat. As long as it isn’t like $10-20, that would be ridiculous.) Thanks for your time.

    GREAT GAME....ONE OF THE BEST......BUT!

I started this game by chance. I instantly loved it.....but I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t play but a few minutes at a time. I was hooked on it from the beginning. But, again as others have said....it is IMPOSSIBLE to get anywhere because of the energy problem. I tend not to pay cash for use of any games...but this one had me hooked. So I bought $20 worth of energy. $20 bought 3,000 energy. Plenty I thought. WRONG! I used that up in 15 minutes of play! There were several “ comic book scenarios” which use up to 20 energy....then some games 30 energy. Several find games which took a lot of energy 5 per item. Before I knew it the 3000 was used. WHY are we charged to WATCH the comic......we have no control of that and that uses up a lot of energy. So now I will never pay to play on this again. Definitely not worth what you are paying for! NOW I have finished the first two murders. I’m going to the next but IT IS NOT READY TO BE RELEASED? It doesn’t even say how long we have to wait! REALLY? I’m not that good at the game so it’s not like I went through many stories. I can’t play! So now I solved a crime, didn’t get rewarded for it and now can’t continue because the next storyline isn’t ready? WHAAAAAAAT? Don’t get started on this game. It has a good story line but we cannot play it either without a LOT of money or a lot of WAITING!

    Murder in the Alps

I have to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed my 10 minutes a day of play on this game. I have been frustrated by not actually playing the game at all on some days, since I use up all my points going from screen to screen, but then the next day I generally have a solid 10 minutes. Unfortunately I have reached a point where a new portion of the story (which you will read whether or not you want to) is in production and I will have to wait, so I am going to remove it from my IPad. I will check back but unless the shortcomings, as pointed out by others (ridiculous wait time to refill points-24hours; ridiculous “charge” to move from place to place, screen to screen; having to restart a screen on which you are actually playing, rather than reading, because you run out of available points in the middle of play and having your progress disappear, making it necessary to restart and thereby use up more points; and finally, not having progress produce higher available points with which to play). I will miss the game but hope someone out there can produce as impressive a game, using fairly lifelike people and interesting screens that will allow more playing, less waiting, and less point usage for nothing that pays off. Try it; it’s an attractive program and interesting game.

    Great.. but..

This game COULD be so much fun. It has a very unique concept and is incredibly detailed (especially for a free game). But just like every other review, the energy is such a problem. You don’t even have time to enjoy yourself because you get to play for 5 minutes, tap the screen a few times times and you’re out of energy. The energy bar only has the capability to hold 200 energy. When you’re doing a finding game, it takes 5 energy to find the object and there are 12 things to be found. This one game uses more than 25% of your energy when in reality you only need ONE of those objects to move on. I’m currently on a task where I’ve had to do 3 things (literally tap the screen 3 times) and it’s taken over 25% of my energy and I can’t complete it because surprise, I “don’t have enough energy to complete the task”. And the only way to get more is to spend money and I’m not about to that. It would be a waste of money due to how quickly it would run out. If you want to get your energy bar refilled for free, you’re waiting over 24 hours. Over 24 hours of wait time for 5 minutes of game play! Anyway, I’ll continue to play (for now) because it’s still very new to me and I’m still intrigued. But I know that pretty soon I’ll get sick of waiting so long to continue the game and just end up forgetting I even have this installed on my phone. Missed opportunity by the developers. Could have had something great here!

    What’s with the energy?!

I’m surprised energy isn’t consumed just walking from room to room because literally everything else does! For example: the game told me I needed energy to continue the story, so I reluctantly waited - HOURS! - for the bar to refill just that little bit. Restarting the game though, I then watched a VERY BRIEF clip before the next puzzle appeared, BUT THEN the game tells me I’m already OUT OF ENERGY again - in the MIDDLE of a puzzle?? Is that why the energy bar isn’t always visible, so we don’t see how fast it drains? Why doesn’t it tell you the minimum amount of energy needed to complete them? 2 stars REMOVED just for that! As for the third star taken off, the dialogue is very weak while the hotel owner is a lazy idiot(he can’t even fix his own phone or find a key behind his own desk!) and the lady we play is little more than a grownup errand girl, told to do even the most menial tasks - and she eagerly agrees every time! The pros: the visuals are very well done; the puzzles involve interacting with the scenes themselves, and not just tapping on random items laying around; and the plot does sound interesting, it’s just very unfortunate it could take several weeks to finish just because I’ll always be waiting for the energy bar to refill(and yes, I know about the in-app purchase options, but those prices are outrageous! I’ll try looking up a collectible guide online before I consider paying for one of those chapter guides!)

    Almost a great game!!!

I would just like to add to my complaint of this game. Yeah, it does save your progress, but it does not save it correctly. The last time I played, I had found all but 2 items and of course I ran out of energy 🙄. So, I closed out the game like I always do to wait on the energy to refill🙄. I returned later to play only to discover that all the items I had found disappeared. I had to start over and again had to quit in order for my energy to refill😡. This is not the first time this has happened. Please fix this annoying problem. Also, I have really enjoyed playing this game when I am allowed to play it. Having an energy bar imbedded into the game is completely ridiculous. Playing the game for a couple of minutes and then having to wait pretty much a whole day to play again just destroys any enjoyment a player could have for the game. Take out the energy bar and charge people a price for the game. If they complete it in one day or very quickly, then so be it. Having to wait for my energy to refill, having to buy items to upgrade my characters, or having to replay levels repeatedly in order to advance to the next level have pretty much turned me against any game play for any game, no matter how good it is. This “new way of playing” has destroyed games. I hope someday, game developers will see the error of their ways and bring back the good ole days.
