    Good Game

Started playing a Space Hulk box set with Terminators and was hooked immediately. Then over the years transitioned to full scale war with Warhammer 40K 25 years ago. A full company of marine, terminators and vehicle miniatures, a tape measure and book to calculate everything from movements of units and vehicles to armor and weapon ratings, buildings, tree and rock props on a pool table for the war zone and a piece of string to establish line of sight for weapon shots. Then Dawn of War hit the PC and brought my Blood Angels chapter of marines into the animation age. Since I can’t drag my PC with me everywhere the Space Wolves Chapter has filled the void. Fun game and tons to do. It is a bit grindy to level up and get cards, but will do for now. I’m still kinda partial to my Blood Angels Chapter sooo.....devs start figuring out how to bring other chapters and races into this game or another new game please.

    Highly satisfactory turn-based strategy

Not easy to learn or master. Detailed skill trees, weapon choices and features. You can purchase loads of packs with in-game gold, which makes free-to-play enjoyable. Remember, every move/choice is highly consequential. This is not a very forgiving game. You’ll die easily and fast if you don’t consider certain elements that are not a part of similar games - such as i) ability to use any card to move, ii) the direction you face at the end of each move, or iii) effort points accumulated (akin to ‘fatigue’) in a turn. Often, not doing anything is a perfectly viable move. Be open to learn weapon characteristics (e.g. how shoot times interact with hit chance) and take time to strategize. They’ll pay off.

    Fun and Intricate

Turn back now. Say goodbye to your friends. And be prepared to leave some people behind. Gameplay and animation is flawless. Card system is unique and fun. Lore and story are perfect. Crafting is good, loot is balanced. To get overwatch, equip a rifle and hit the turn button. One Marine can hold out a long time. Which might be jat the time you need. Flanking is possible. But. The odds are stacked against you getting that treasure box. That's what crafting is for, though. All around a challenging but surprisingly addictive strategy game. I had fun. Until I ran out of friends, and fell on the steel floor, the last teeth of the Reliquary Mark IV Chainsaw still sputtering through the Necrolord, as one final breath exhaled, eyes raised into the Last Light...For The Emperor--

    Great....but.....

This game may not suit everyone cause it'll take about 30 minutes for each session but if you're into turn based strategy or 40k at all, it's amazing. BUT Once you progress through storyline, it starts becoming impossible. Like realistically impossible. If there is just 3 of you against 6 terminators, you better be a good tactician or you're dead. You pretty much have close to zero healing ability (there is a card but I still haven't found it) and high level enemies have plenty... by which I mean they will heal more than your damage every single turn. But it's STILL fine if there was any way to earn money after you complete the campaign. Well there is. It's multiplayer. The rooms are pretty much empty. So... yeah.... if only there was a new game mode that always rewarded gold.... Or at least campaign missions replays awarded a fraction of the completion reward....

    Impossible missions

One of the early missions has an optional objective of kill no more than 5 enemy. No such thing as stealth in this game and with enemy units coming at you constantly there is no way that objective can be completed. (ed) Okay, there is one way... don’t take any squadies and do nothing but move. Stupid scenario. You can't get more coins by grinding the missions. You only get coins by completing a mission or optional objective the first time. In app purchases are very expensive. Otherwise free to play and get no where. (ed) Still get four stars in my humble opinion. Not sure what the latest patch will bring, but for those of us who refuse to use Facebook with its complete lack of personal info security, this is the only forum I’ll use to present my feedback.

Was great, now won’t load (updated review)

Previous review is below. The problem has been resolved (resolved itself?) so I changed the review from 1 star to 4 stars. I enjoy this game a lot, am able to do pretty well without paying for any bonuses, but some glitches stop me from giving 5 stars. I was enjoying this game, a bit of a learning curve on how to customize the decks, but fun to do. Now it doesn’t load. Tried uninstalling the game, restarting my device, nothing gets me past the loading screen.

    Meh

I love Warhammer and I love turn based strategy games. However the execution of the Warhammer rules into this mobile game was done poorly in a confusing and convoluted manner. The movement and facing is frustrating and unintuitive. You never really know if you will be able to target the enemy, even if you are in range. The enemy gets to shoot at you no matter where they are, but you have to aim like a castle piece in a chess game (only in straight rows). The turns are bizarre and follow some sort of odd initiative formula that is ill-conceived and inadequately explained. You have cards with weapons on them. The option to move your guys is an actual card and its also a choice on the weapon cards. Whether there is a difference on which one you choose is beyond me. You have the option to equip a weapon during your turn, however you can fire your weapons without equipping them. What actually equipping them does is beyond my comprehension. Sometimes a weapon has ammo, sometimes it seems to have unlimited ammo. The game says you can skip half of your turn for a bonus. The bonus is you get to “go first.” How skipping your turn allows you to go first makes no sense to me. The whole game is a perplexing, befuddled mess and it plainly struggles to explain itself to you in the tutorial. Anyone who plays this game or even spends money on it is either smarter than me and figured it out or just really really loves The Warhammer universe. I deleted it.

It’s a decent game but needs a little work

So all in all the game is there. Especially compared to, say, warriors of water deep or other games that feed off of a major brand of fandom. This definitely owns up to its 40K roots and it’s definitely fun with something there for anyone that has patience and the IQ to figure things out naturally and on their own. The only trouble is that the resources are not only very finite, but they’re needed for just about everything. Granted it’s easy to disassemble equipment for parts, especially the terminator and scout armor decks as it’ll be a hot day on Fenris long before you get the gold to buy those sets -without- paying to play. Bear in mind, getting gold is easier in the multiplayer but the grind to get -to- the multiplayer is long, arduous, and if you’re a guy that plays the game, “I win,” then you’re not gonna be very happy. All in all, it’s a good game, but come prepared to spend money to have fun after a couple weeks or so.

    Nice but flaws

This is a great game however they need to address some flaws. 1. Multi player is not balanced at all. You enter and will play against someone with much higher cards and levels. Why not some kind of balance. I.E. buff to the weaker player to make a fair match? 2. You really have to spend money to compete in PvP and the high end missions. This is because the amount of coins you get is to low and you can not pick cards to upgrade. You must get the cards in a drop and there are a ton to get. I would like to see more coins for replaying missions on a hard mode of some kind. Also a way to pick a card to,upgrade. Like I like this hammer. I give up the the next random card of equal or higher level to get the card I need. Good game. But needs a little more i think.

This game gets impossible very quickly

At level 5 in the campaign, it is impossible, there is no way to beat it unless you want to spend a lot of money on the game. I bought the terminator pack which is really good yet still it is impossible to beat level 5. Once you think that you are about to beat it, 3 over powered guys come in and absolutely wreck you. This game would have been better if it was easier. It is impossible. This game is really a pay to win game. Once I got the game thinking that it would be easy, it was at the start. Later in the game is where it gets hard. I think the developers of this game really need to make it an easier game and not a pay to win game.

Too expensive, scales unevenly with mission advancement

No way to progress or win without spending a fair amount of money. While every business is out to make money, I can appreciate that, this game offers no way to progress or earn more credits apart taking on new missions and completing any bonus objectives that you haven’t. I’m at the point in the game where the enemies are so numerous and powerful that I am simply destroyed. I have spent $40, which was mainly for credits used to upgrade my team and a few boosters. I am not going to continue to play a game that requires such an investment of money to stay reasonably relevant for a short time. The game IS FUN and I enjoy it. But the lack of repeat mission playing for any real benefit (yes, you can get forges for a card) but no credit of experience to raise my levels is a gross overlook by the developer. The idea is sound, fun game, looks good and lots of strategy. But the difficulty scaling coupled with the amount of money needed to upgrade units to the next tier, for me, takes away too much from the game to continue playing. Scale the difficulty better, allow missions to be replayed for credits.

Why have you ran this game into the ground

Devs. Have you played your own IOS game? The necron campaign is unbeatable. Why because you have infinite spawns and endless enemy pulling 450 hp health boosts. So you’ve taken away the strategy and made it ridiculously impossible so people will dump money into the game. you HAVE GOT TO LOWER THE HIT POINTS ON THE BOTS AND GET RID OF INFINITE SPAWNS!!!! Listen to your customers for the love of RUSS You removed the legendary card for winning the challenge mode and increased the total number of cards thereby decreasing the odds of getting a Legendary card. This game had soooooo much potential now it’s barely functional. You can’t even find multiplayer’s anymore. I don’t think anyone has beaten the Necron campaign. There are no videos on u tube no reddit posts, just non stop people complaining. Seriously what’s the business model here.

    Major paywall after 15 hours

This game is really fun for a while, then you just cannot do anything. Multiplayer never has anyone on. Challenges are super hard/require multiplayer wins to play. Missions can be played but after so many you just won’t be strong enough to do anything and there isn’t a way to get stronger. You could log in every day for 3 months and still not have made any meaningful upgrades. Essentially to continue you have to spend hundreds of dollars to upgrade your people. To put it in perspective, It takes roughly 200k credits to fully upgrade 1 marine. You get a max of 300 credits per day average if you watch 5 min of ads and get the daily login. It will take you 700+ days of daily play to upgrade 1 of your 6 marines regardless of how much extra you play. Great great game, would love to give it more money, but even $50 is meaningless overall in unlocking more gameplay. I really hope the devs make some tweaks. Even a monthly subscription would be fine just like all my other games, I realize you need to make money. Also wish you could restore purchases. I’ve played this game twice and don’t have any way to restore my original purchases.

    Normal GamesWorkshop greed....

This game is like anything Games Workshop is about these days, destroying a good idea with greed. Bad enough they try to charge $30 for a 29 page “book” online, now they toss out a “free” game that you cannot get past the first stages on if you are unwilling to spend money to buy the power ups the game fails to give you so you can play. You cannot play this game and get anywhere with it without spending more money than the game is worth. GW needs to stop trying to rip people off. They should at least be bound by law to tell you that this game is not free and is a waste of time if you want to play a game without constant pressure to spend money on a flawed product. Great idea, failed application. As to the assumption that that somehow multiplayer helps you get over the pay wall and such, well in the few months i had the game i could never connect to multiplayer, once. I tried two or three times every log in and it never worked. So do not slam me with your bs about how it helps. This game also rips you off and the developers do nothing to fix the charge errors. Hey as long they are lining their pockets with your money why should they care?
