STILL The Best Pirate Game On App Store!
UPDATE: With the newest update, my expectations have, indeed, been exceeded! 3rd person boarding and land missions are absolutely bonkers! Been on since day 1 and I hope this game NEVER dies! ORIGINAL: Supremely bummed to see my original review missing :( . Anywho- this awesome pirate game is the best all-round free-roam pirate action RPG on the App Store! At first glance, simple mechanics and mission chasing are abound! However, what most fail to see is the actual depth of the game. For starters, it's a social game that allows you to play with other people cooperatively or anonymously. You can also upgrade your crew AND captain. There are mysteriously powerful artifacts to find, mythical sea monsters, and a budget for all of it..so venture wisely. Otherwise, the graphics and camera angles matched with the realistic sounds give this game movie-like qualities...just zoom in on deck and sail for a while with your friends, it's a blast! Then cooperate in pirate battles...it's a literal blast! Sixth Star!!! The 6th star goes to this game because the developers have gone above and beyond providing excellent customer service. They have responded to requests at lightning speeds and NEVER have I felt so appreciated as a customer and now a big fan! THANK YOU Herocraft!
Very good game!
This game was very addicting for a while, there’s a lot to do and many storylines to play. I’ve been playing this game for a couple months now, and just recently I got an iPhone 8 and with the most recent update the buttons don’t align with the screen. The buttons look larger than normal and I can’t even hit the ones on top or bottom of my screen. I noticed some other people had problems button sizing/UI with the iPhone X, and supposedly the new update fixed it. However, I have the most recent update but my iPhone 8 still has button sizing/UI issues. Please fix this soon, the game is already amazing! Update: The issue has been fixed, I really appreciate that the developers actually respond to reviews and fix problems!
I should delete this game...
I’ve played this game too much - because I love it too much and it has cost me many hours of sleep. The storylines are entertaining and interesting and worth the pursuits. If I had a criticism it is that the pop-up windows can be accidentally dismissed so easily. The windows that tell me about a certain event or give me information after completing a quest, pop-up when I have my fingers on the screen and since you dismiss them by touching any part of the screen, they go away so fast that I rarely am able to read them. Maybe if you had to click on an “X” to dismiss the windows it might alleviate that. But otherwise I love this Pirate Sim - it’s the best one out there for the iPad that I’ve come across.
One of the best Pirate RPGs out there
This is the coolest pirate game I have ever played. It has so much more content than the other pirate games out there. It is kinda like The Pirate: Caribbean Hunt, but with sea monsters and magic crystals. I love being able to board other ships and have an epic fight against their crew, which is one thing The Pirate was lacking in. I would definitely recommend this game to people who like pirates, ships, or both! I would like to thank HeroCraft for their great customer service. They have always been very quick to answer any questions I had about the game. See you on the high seas! 😎
Excellent game and developers!
Game review: Has the graphics of Assassin's Creed Pirates, the trade system of Tradewinds 2, and the combat mechanics of Sid Meiers Pirates! Needs some work fixing a glitch or two however great game! I only have one complaint and that's when you jump maps or have special quests it's quite annoying to have to deal with third party combatants! Please add more storyline and maps! This is a great game worth every penny! The developers are pretty awesome they actually read the feedback they get in the reviews! Top notch attitude that made my day! This game and the developers have earned my 5 stars for good!
OMG. I heard a Korean voice....in Atlantus port at eastern sea.
Hi? I'm korean who just bought this beautiful pirate RPG game. First of all, I want to thank developers for this amazing game. I mean... it really makes me feel that I am a captain. This game is a GTA game in pirate world!! I'm not kidding. I can choose who I follow and what I do!! And you can enjoy this for just 3.99$. It's also great there is no internet connection needed. Truely amazing job guys. Anyway, in Atlantus isle port at eastern sea.... I heard familar woman's voice who were selling fishes. She was exactly Korean. It was a surprise for me cuz this game has no Korean subtitles..... sad.... If my country people know this game, they would love it. I'm pretty sure haha. I hope that this game will remain paid app. Don't convert this one paid&play free game into Free download + in app purchase mixed game.... It will make this game ugly. Thank you again. and I will wait for another update~ bye~!!
Morale meter
This has got to be the greatest pirate action game I’ve ever played. Definitely work the price. I have played lots of similar game but no compare to all the things you can do in Tempest. I’d give it 10 stars if I could. One comment though, I noticed in my game that my crew morale meter has stopped working. The game still informs me when crew morale is very low but the meter itself has stopped moving completely. Not sure if this is a small bug but just wanted to ask!
Great game with one issue
Definitely the best pirate-themed game for the iPad (by a large margin). Picture it as a very polished Sid Meier’s Pirates! but with 25x the missions, stronger graphics, a fantastic score and 100% less redundant ballroom dancing. So why only 4 stars instead of 5? In a word: land. This game has about a half dozen land quest types (they rotate randomly). And its during these quests where the polish is tarnished. A prime example: on a mission to save an Emperor’s daughter, you run to a pirate haven to save her. Often, the haven doesn’t render until you’re in the middle of town where you promptly get blown apart or trapped in geography. Likewise, some trees don’t render and you’ll get stuck on them. Perhaps the most common issue is the camera panning 180 degrees in the opposite direction of a fight because of some object behind you that you’re stuck on. Additionally, your pirate will move a bit oddly through the land missions as if on rails (randomly). If the developers could fix the issues with land quests (giving them the same polish as the vibrant sea battles), this game would be an easy 5 star winner and one of the best games on the iPad.
Good game, bad DLC
I’ve been thoroughly enjoying this game. There’s always something new to do, with many factions and quests, ships to buy, and sea monsters to find. Quality has improved significantly since I started playing years ago. A minor issue: text sometimes disappears before I have a chance to read it, so I could really use a log of some sort. Unfortunately, I believe the DLC is not worth the money in its current form. Land battles are nearly impossible because my captain dies after 2-3 hits. The only possible strategy is a prolonged hit-and-run, which is no fun and still fails if I get shot by an enemy I can’t even see. Many of the new quests (especially Emperor’s Daughter) are blocked by impossible land battles. And the Pirate City just doesn’t really add anything to the rest of the game. Hope the developer will fix these issues, because the core game is a masterpiece.
Good Game, Disappointing DLCs
I am tempted to give a lower score, bing currently annoyed by the DLCs, but that would not be fair. It is a very good base game, and. Have gotten hours of enjoyment out of it. Sadly, the DLCs do not really seem very well-thought-out and are not similar to the base game. The land quests are just a bad idea. Melee combat is not very deep, already, and the DLCs add a LOT of melee, land combat. I don’t want to spend 5 minutes running through boring, procedurally generated jungle, doing nothing but running, only to then die in combat with a camp of 20 enemies shooting at me (especially since mobile controls are imprecise and clunky). Why would a pirate captain with a giant battleship full of battle-hardened crew be trying to heroically take out camps of enemies all by himself anyway? If the DLC had added more quests like the lengthy “legend” quests in the main game, a new faction, and basically just a new map with quests comparable to the other maps, it would have been perfect. PS. Also, who thought it was a good idea to make all of the artifacts and high level items you spent hours acquiring easily buyable in the new DLC? After I spend hours following a long chain of missions to get a fancy artifact, I don’t want to roll up into the DLC towns and see it just sitting there, for sale.
Great game
This game is very enjoyable. Endless things to do, great ships, and great concepts. It is short a star due to issues with the DLC jade ed. When trying to go upon shore, 50% of the time I get put underwater and controls are useless, forcing me to close the game. My other concern is the quests upon the shore. Cleaning out the pirate camps of 6+ pirates with my 1 character is impossible. I would think that you would be able to take some of your crew with you, but you don’t. The paradise locations are do-able because at the most you face three skeletons at a time and they don’t have pistols. But 6 or more pirates with pistols against one it... lets just say I will not be able to complete the main quest line for the dlc.
Great game but riddled with bugs
Awesome pirate game with a lot of fun quests but it’s full of bugs that I hope get fixed soon...I’ve looked online and it seems everyone is having the same issues...the kraken stew quest never seems to end when you have to sink the seekers, I’ve sunken at least 40 of them and there’s no end in sight...same way will tall-tell tongues quest, sunken numerous ships and nothing happens!!!!...it’s getting to the point where I don’t want to play anymore because all I want to do in complete these quests but little to no one can figure them out!!!...pleeeeeease update
Easy, Repetitive, and Boring.
The game on the hardest difficulty is rather easy. As long as you have ammunition you can’t really lose the fights, other than the beasts which seem broken or are designed to be too hard. The Ghost Captives quest allows you to easily get the Battleship II (Best Ship) with the starter ship. After you get the Battleship II which only takes about 30 minutes you just travel around and kill ships that are easily outmatched, such as killing 6 other ships solo and taking no damage. Most of the game is sailing in the world map and doing the same quests while the other half of the game is following enemy ships and just staying out of their cannon range. Objectives do not need to be read as the quests give you waypoints on exactly where to go. Never figured out how or where the multiplayer was after about 4 hours of gameplay, but I assume its part of the DLC which I did not buy. Not worth the money for the game.
Buy this buy that buy this buy that
This game is littered with micro transactions and dlcs that cost money you wouldn’t expect this from a 4 dollar game and it gets boring and I’ve played for days and still don’t have enough money to get a new ship and I’ve done several quests. This game is a waste of money i don’t even know how this is fun. If you the developer apologize to me I will respect the game but I hate the game it’s terrible with gameplay and how do I get more money in the game? Of course micro transactions.i want a direct apology from the developer to the waste of money I spent then I’ll tend to respect you and the game but if there’s no apology I will delete the game and play games of your competitors and I will disrespect your content. Again I WANT A DIRECT APOLOGY. For this
