    Population and Communication

After playing FoE (Forge of Empire)for several years (5+) I have grown accustomed to certain similar aspects of the game.
One aspect is needing workers to produce. Unlike FoE, where houses provided many people, RoC's houses provide 1-2 depending on size. Although some players do not approve of the limited population and non ability to do everything at once, I like the idea of strategizing what is more important to produce. Troop training, goods, or food. Usually it's that order.
Now I come to the area of the game that I, as a team player, have a request of developers. Communication. Although there is an alliance chat box where members can communicate as a group, there are certain things that officers may need to discuss privately. In FoE there are private message threads where you can privately chat to single individuals or set up a message thread for multiple people (like officers) to discuss alliance matters. The private messages can also allow recruitment of players by officers to non alliance players via an invite message.
In closing, I understand this game is still young and the devs probably have a list of things they plan on implementing. I look forward to seeing what is next.

      Feedback

Really well made base-building game with excellent progression and mechanics. There are a couple of things I would like to suggest. As a lower level player, you unlock more buildings at quite a fast pace, and its very difficult to keep your base organized and efficient. I think a base editor button would be great because current you have to stash each individual building which can be grueling, and there are occasional glitches where you place all your buildings only for the game to tell you that you havent so you have to leave the screen and lose all your remodeling. The other thing is the combat. While the progression and quest lines are great, the combat itself is pretty lackluster. Perhaps more dynamic battlefields, or customizable troop models could make it more enjoyable, but for now it’s basically 2-3 unit types on every single battle, with no real strategy involved. Other than that this is a fantastic game and I cant wait to see this game grow overtime.

      Civilization Phone Edition

So, when I play a game like Civ, I either feel like my favorite ages go by too quickly and if I want to experience it again, I have to play a whole other game and do the same thing over and over again. I have been playing for over a month now, and recently got to the Classic Greek age, and I really felt like I earned it. Made the resources, invested research, etc, and felt like I earned every bit of progress I’ve made. It makes me excited about the future of this game. The only thing I feel like I would like to do, but can’t is this, when you get Egypt (and eventually China, but I haven’t gotten that far) why is it that you can’t trade at port for their products? When I was in the Macedonian age I wished that I could buy them, and now that I’m in the classic Greek age, I wish I could sell them. Was this a game balancing issue or is this just as of yet not implemented?

A very beautiful and relaxing game!

I actually love this game!!! The pace is very slow but I personally like that, what really got me to write a review(which I never do) however was the gorgeous graphics!! There is so much beautiful animated background and character content! Like one tiny detail that I really loved when I noticed it, is the automatic little paths between all the buildings! It makes the area look so much more put together and organized, and the player doesn’t have to do a thing! The animations at every building while they are producing a product are so detailed and smooth. There are several distinct unique villagers that sometimes wander around, making the space look lived in. It’s a really really beautifully designed game, and I could watch that animation of the waves and gulls all day long.

      Very well made

Now that I’ve logged about a week in I can give a good review. This game is extremely well made and the concept while applied to many games all over the App Store offers a unique take that is refreshing and relaxing. Multiplayer seems like a side benefit as opposed to the main function taking away the disappointment of being smashed by pay to players. The art is fun and humorous, and the combat system fair and balanced by no means a strategy game in that regard more a means to an end allowing you to focus on the growth and thriving of your civilization. This game is a must play for all build your city and travel through the ages players who don’t have hundreds to spend but are dedicated to their games. Easy 5 stars

      Great game needs minor improvements.

Let me start off by saying I love this game and it’s concept! I have been addicted for a while and am excited to see what future updates hold. One minor problem I do see is the output of farms. For example the rural farm at level six with max happiness produces 6400 food per hour for three workers. That is essentially 2133 food per hour per worker. Now take the rural farm at level seven. With max happiness it produces 6900 food per hour for four workers. That is essentially 1725 food per hour per worker. So even though I spent time and research to level up my farm, it is essentially less productive now. I see two possible fixes, either reduce the amount of workers necessary to operate the farm as you level it up, or increase the amount of food that is output. Because of this I also find my self constantly low on food, while producing vast amounts of gold that I have no use for at the moment. Once again I do truly love this game, and I’m sure you guys will work it out one way or another. Thanks for your time and for the fun game!

      Good game

Fun and balanced so far (I’ve only made it to the bronze age). I like that it doesn’t have advertisements and videos every step. I like that I can speed things up if I want but I don’t have to if I’m willing to be patient. The only thing I have disliked and this was huge for me was the wonder donation system. I love the idea of donating to get puzzle pieces and building a helpful community. But this won’t do that. With only awarding pieces for the top two donators it creates people trying to quickly donate right at the end to close out the wonder and get the prize. They snipe right at the end or just don’t donate. I hate that you have a chance of donating and losing all the research. It is so valuable a commodity that i’m not going to donate it if I have a large chance of losing all 10 research points (an hour a pop) for no return. Maybe add more puzzle pieces to the wonders but everyone that donates research should get something in return. Not just the top 2 and all the rest lose out. It creates an abusive community, not a helpful one.

      Actually, not bad.

It is only a little greedy. Definitely easier with real money but playable otherwise. Unlike similar games it does not become a slog in mid game. Things slow down, sure but there’s something to do every few hours. Paying real money also does not give a massive advantage, just makes some things go a bit quicker. I would have preferred to just pay some money once for a “premium mode” but that’s clearly not the most lucrative proposition. The lack of multiplayer is a welcome choice. I only wish the battles were more tactical. There is no unit control and positioning does not always work. Cavalry sometimes decides to fight melee units when the path to ranged groups is clear. Powers don’t always work; I’ve had summons get stuck in deployment. Furthermore, a stronger Rock Paper Scissors mechanic would have been good. And, I would encourage more skill-based approach. One should not be immediately outclassed by not having the troops upgraded. The combat is not terrible but it gets stale pretty quickly.

      NEEDS FIX ASAP!

I don’t usually write reviews but this one NEEDS to be seen by the developers. I really love this game and have been playing it to kill time for about 2 months. I am nearing the end of the Minoan Era and need one more battle win to advance to the Valley of The Gods in order to go to Ancient Egypt. However, there is one problem; my army is fully upgraded as far as the game allows me at this point in time but there is a battle at Cavernous Outcrop that I have been held up on for a while now. My commanders are both at max level right now and my army is always at full capacity and I have tried every strategy imaginable but I just can not win and advance in my missions which makes the game super frustrating and makes me want to quit playing. The enemy seems to not only outnumber me, but also seems to have stronger units than me. Other than that, this game is amazing but if any developers are reading I would really love to see this fixed.

      Great game

I’ve played Forge of empire and I really liked it I hade high hopes for this and it delivered. One thing I really like is you get rule an army and be like a general but I do wish they expand on this and add like military tactics or natural obstacles that you could use to your advantage. Another thing is troops while I’m ok with the troops we have I think cavalry needs a buff at the moment I only have 4 cavalry men and nine infantry men as well as 8 archers per regiment and I think you should bump up the numbers of the cavalry to at least match that of the archers. Next civilization I think after you have the Roman Empire you could do the Byzantine empire or the Rashidun or Umayyad caliphates or my even the Ottoman Empire all in all great game by lacking in a few things I forgot to mention that I’d like a better map too I like the one in forge of empires but this one looks unrealistic

      Great for kids

I’ve been playing this with my kids & have enjoyed how simple and “vanilla” it is - others are too complicated and/or war oriented for them to enjoy (I’ve got girls so they actually object to the battles altogether and dislike that they’re required in order to progress). It is slightly irritating trying to organize your civilization when you can only see a few structures at a time and don’t know how much room to leave for things like cultural monuments that will increase happiness - leave too much empty space and then you don’t have enough land to put necessary/bigger things like barracks that you need in order to progress, but don’t leave any room and you can’t strategically place monuments and you end up with a bunch of apathetic citizens …which my girls also dislike.

      Great so far!

I have never written a review for a game, but just had to for this one. Thank you for creating a game that I didn’t have to delete after a few days because goals get ridiculous so fast. I hope this continues as I get further (end of Bronze Age). Don’t mind spending a little, but not going to spend a ton of real money on games. Graphics are amazing, no ads, and no glitches so far- props to developers! Update- now that I am in next era the amount of goods you need to do anything is too much for the amount of workers you have. It is impossible to make food and goods and upgrade army. Please reduce amount of workers per job or add villagers with each home upgrade. 1 worker per home after many upgrades is unfair. Please fix, I don’t want to delete, I was enjoying it so much!

      Disappointing but solid empire builder

I played Forge of Empires for several years (quitting mainly so that I could regain my life), and I don’t really understand the point of this game in Innogames’ portfolio. Maybe if I hadn’t played FoE for so long, I would like it. Here are the gripes: so far, there is a constant tension of having too many buildings and not enough workers to keep them running. Maybe folks like that sort of resource dilemma, but it’s not my cup of tea. Why should I build 2 more farms for the questline when I can’t even consistently run the 3 that I already have? Another is that it is buggy - mainly, trouble with server disconnects (which don’t happen with the many other app games I play) and incidents freezing. Also, if FoE is Formula One, this game is a tricycle. It’s very slow paced with very little razzle dazzle. Finally, and this was my coffin nail, you have to have blueprints for every level of wonders you level up. Again, coming from FoE, this a painful delta. It does have nice graphics, no ads, and no constant badgering to buy IAPs. If you want a vanilla empire builder, this might be it for you.

      Can’t Progress? No PvP?

Game runs smoothly. Love the detail and UI. No crashing for me. However... I researched the first technology for the Bronze Age, but the game isn’t letting me accept it, so I cannot progress any further! Please help! Other than this... Interesting how you research with a currency and don’t necessarily have to constantly log back in to research something new. You can just stockpile the currency over time. But as a civ game... picking your own empire? Battling other players? No territorial disputes? No worldwide map where you’re surrounded by other players like you? Maybe I just haven’t gotten late enough in the game to tell. If these ARE features the game has and you just can’t access then early, then they have to be advertised to draw in more players. Otherwise... if it’s not a PvP based game, devs gotta add this. It could make this a gamechanger. What I DO like is the trading aspect which you can apparently unlock later on—that’s a fun and completely necessary addition to every civ based game. Now imagine how great it would be if you could have a roster of enemy players and a roster of allied players that you trade with... that would make this game sick. But for now, it’s really lacking that social content to make it exciting and the progression. 2/5. Not quite there yet.

      Major flaw with food supplies

Accumulating food is waaaaayyyy out of balance. Starting to make the game unplayable at the end of bronze, but specially after getting to Minoan. It takes way way too many workers to produce food, either give more workers per house or reduce workers in farms. You probably want to encourage players to spend money, right. You are obviously not looking to make money via ads so you need us to pay up. Well it turns out some of us are willing to pay *if* what we are paying for seems like a worthwhile value. If you make the game too slow, too expensive and too unplayable, you are *guaranteeing” that I will never ever spend a penny. Be more generous and you might actually make some money. Edit in response to developers: Sorry but I’m not an idiot. You built the game to incentivize people to buy gems. I’m telling you that you are the ones missing the point. I spend all the time on games that make my purchases worthwhile. You could be getting my money if you were no so greedy. Please stop answering reviews with meaningless sales platitudes. It’s not customer service, it’s insulting. I’d rather not get a response.
