    Love this game!

I hate to say this, but I’m addicted to this game! Before real life kicked me around with time constraints, I had 10 cities! Finding a good fellowship is sometimes a challenge, but once you do, it’s a blast. There are no other players raiding your city and stealing your goods, either. Not a fan of games like that. Tournaments are weekly and important to the growth of your city. Fellowship Adventures are fun, but sometimes a challenge to coordinate. Graphics rock! Events are great because you get time and supplies boosts, plus needed spells. When you first start the game, it looks simple. It is not! Makes you think! There’s a lot to know about this game and thankfully, there are resources in and out of the game that help. Plus, some players are a whiz at this game. You can play without buying boatloads of premium currency (diamonds) and that’s a challenge, too. I love challenges! A couple of complaints are these: in-game chat is not stable and is frequently out of commission. Messaging is better and is *finally* available on the app - took them long enough! However, messages only last so long. Emojis are finally available on PC, but not the app. Anyway, we’ve had to resort to an outside gamer’s chat app to hold information we need and to chat. Next request for the app: please make it so you can apply KP to other’s Ancient Wonders! As with any game, there are good and bad aspects, but overall, this is a fantastic game!

    Great game! Enjoy the journey!

I mostly play on mobile (iPad & iPhone) and use my computer for manual fights when the enemy squad size equals or exceeds mine. I’ve been playing for about 4 months & the Ancient Wonders & chat issues in other reviews must have been fixed before I started because they both work great - especially love being able to provide AW help from notes. I’m only in Chapter 5 but have learned lessons that I’ve used to start a couple more cities. It’s really hard in your first city, but taking it slow & enjoying the journey will make your experience so much more enjoyable. If you build/scout too fast you’ll forever be short on troops and goods. If you want more time in the game like I did, start a new city or two. Fellowships also make this game great. There is a wide variety so you can find one with like-minded players. The benefits of being in a 10+ chest/spire-focused Fellowship were huge for me. But you have to put in the effort. Others really want the social connection or relaxed/time-limited play. Move until you’ve got the right balance for you. Finally, I have spent no money so far and know of many others who never do. I am likely to buy diamonds at some point to support the development team but if you focus on enjoying the journey vs getting done you won’t feel the need for speed and spending.

    For the patient

Great game that holds potential, but at the moment progresses so slowly that it's really meant as a check-in-once-a-day or for the very patient. The positives: pretty game, city-building, player-directed research, interesting world map with scouting and combat, and definitely some fun content. Great stuff, but... The negatives: combat difficulty skyrockets way too quickly, slowing world expansion to a crawl. Not enough to do in the game, which is frustrating, as I really wanted to delve into scouting and expanding, research and city-building. City squares must be earned or bought, which is fine; however, the rate is far too slow and expensive. The player ends up with an overcrowded area and nowhere to place buildings. If they fix this game, it will be awesome. I really hope they do 😊

    Superior in all ways!

I’ve been playing this game on my iPad for nearly a year. I was disappointed at first because I didn’t have all the features that pc users had...but the developers have been working hard and delivering on their promise to make more available to mobile players. This week, we’ve participated in an incredibly fun challenge that has brought everyone in our fellowship together to meet the goals of the challenge. If you want a game that never gets boring, has amazing graphics, wonderful prizes, etc, etc., elvenar is your game. Thank you developers! Also, a note about 💎...they cost real money, but you will never feel like you have to constantly “pay to play”...you’ll buy some happily, and use them with a smile!

    Good but could be better!

I enjoy playing the game. The quests are manageable and require tactic, sure they take time but it’s cool because you don’t have quests that are leading you on to something you may not even care about. Building the civilization is fun and a good way to unwind. However, it takes forever to get through providences because your army does not level up as easy and as fast as you go through the open providences so it can take weeks for you to complete one Providence because you have to level up so much stuff in order to be able to level up your army and even then the army may still not be big enough. Also it is so difficult to set up your village when you have to keep adding stuff but have no efficient way to rearrange anything you already have set. I could make space for more of the buildings I need if I could completely rearrange my base but I can’t. It would be a good idea to have a reset button where you can rearrange your buildings so they fit better! Overall this is a fun game but needs just a couple tweaks to be even better!

    Cool city builder

This is a port of a game you can also play for free on your computer’s browser. The browser gives you access to a few more features, but in my opinion that’s far outweighed by the convenience of having it on your phone, since that’s always with you and accessible any time, which makes it much easier to produce Supplies regularly Pros: 1) Choice between Humans and Elves (mainly just a different look) 2) Can immediately join a clan and talk to other players, who can help get you started 3) Organize your city however you want, as long as roads connect necessary buildings to your Main Hall Cons: 1) Very limited space. Expansions are few and far between unless you buy gems, which greatly restricts base-building creativity 2) No option to manually fight like in the web browser (I don’t think this will ever be added since it would take a LOT of reworking) 3) You have to be patient when it comes to the PvP battles. It takes a long time to train enough units to fight, and you can only send in so many, so you get to points where you can’t win until you get a certain upgrade To the Devs: This game desperately needs a base designer mode. There’s so little space and every inch is filled, so it’s IMPOSSIBLE to redesign my base. I can’t move anything, which is an enormous problem because when you upgrade buildings to certain levels, they get bigger and require more space. Find a way to make an edit mode where we can start from scratch and place things down

Great game, love getting to know other players

The basic foundation of this game is fantastic and the graphics are outstanding. There is a real sense of community among the players. As with real life there are always personality conflicts but easily controlled in-game by building a close-knit fellowship of other like-minded players. Loads of fun. The only negatives I have is that the developers sometimes seem very out of touch with the players and often develop non-important parts of the game while ignoring or drag their feet on the most needed updates. Certain key parts of the mobile application have never been developed at all, which leaves mobile players disconnected from important aspects of the game. I wish the developers we’re more in touch with the needs of the players but other than that the game is fantastic and I have been playing for three years.

Getting through the upper levels of the game is unlikely

I have had a great time playing this game for a long while and building my city. However, now that I am only a couple of levels from the current end, I have given up trying to advance any further. The major problem stems from both significant game limits on resources you can make in sufficient the amounts (a restriction Elvenar puts in place), the fact that you lose 10% of these resources every day (again a Elvenar rule) and the fact that very few other players actually willing to trade resources that you and others need at a fair price (if you can even find them in the trade window!). At the rate I could accumulate the needed resources it was going to be essentially impossible to proceed further in my level. It’s a shame that one can not progress without an absolute dependence on the good will of other players. Thus, all I can do now is just maintain what I have built and try to help fellowship members. I expect to be playing a lot less.

    Not sure yet

I just started playing this a few days ago and I’m not sure I’m going to keep it. I’ve played several of these types of games before and this one is by far the slowest progressing. That’s not what really bothers me though, it’s the fact that I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing and there’s really no explanation in the game. It’s frustrating not knowing what all the items are for or what exactly I’m supposed to be doing. Things are not labeled at all and as far as I can tell, item costs are also a mystery in most cases. Reading through the other reviews, it looks like you’re supposed to find all this stuff out on your own using the forums or their wiki, which I feel is just lazy on their part. It can’t be that difficult to label stuff and say exactly what it does, where you can get it and how to use it! I also don’t understand the point of having to progress on the map and fight or negotiate, I could do without that part altogether. I just want to build an elf city!

    Poor customer service

I made a purchase and because of a game glitch, was shorted on my purchase. Upon contacting support, I was informed that it needed to be looked at by the main office to find out what happened and to ensure that it wouldn’t happen to another player. Ok. I understand that. I can even see the very good business sense in that. IT’S BEEN 10 DAYS!!!! I STILL HAVEN’T BEEN COMPENSATED WHAT I’M OWED. In fact customer service has taken the route of ignoring my emails. So much for good business sense. Their reply.... Thank you for contacting the Elvenar support team. We will send your ticket to our Community Management team, which will review your case and get in touch with you shortly. We would appreciate your patience in the meantime. Have a great day! Kind regards, Fornadia In-Game Support And Thank you for contacting support and we do apologize for the delay. Unfortunately in this case we will need our main office to look and verify what may have occurred because we do show that they were received and added to the building but that it didn't complete. Unfortunately we do need to know why this happened to prevent it from occurring again in the future. Thank you for your patience and I do apologize again. Kind regards, Ælfwine Community Manager Update.... I finally received compensation for the glitch. A month later. While I was given everything owed, it was rather disappointing it took a month.

    Crash

This game would be fun and engaging if a player could play this game faster. This game would also be more intriguing if a player would automatically gain more knowledge points as the player progresses further in the research tree, and if Province battles wouldn’t become increasingly more difficult to the point that players can’t win. The Magic casting from the magic academy take hours on end to create spells. The magic academy was almost not worth the diamonds. Also the Military training, and production of tools, and goods take a great deal of time to complete. Although, the graphics of this game is phenomenal the bigger the players city gets the more often the game crashes. Overall progression of this game is increasingly and incredibly slow and the continuous game crash adds for even more sloppy game play. Given the amount of money that all player are eventually required to pay to continue playing this game, I strongly encourage the creators of this game to fix the bugs and or glitches that constantly cause game crash, as well as free up knowledge points, increase the amounts of Goods production, tool crafted in the workshops, reduce the time of magic casting, military troop training.

    Not as much fun

The changes to the game are proving detrimental to established players. You encouraged us to build Ancient Wonders. We did and enjoyed what they brought to the game. Since the changes over the past year were made, having Ancient Wonders only makes the game harder. My main city is in chapter 13. I rarely see pet food more often than every couple of weeks. The same for the fight boost buildings. This city is in a 10- chest tourney group that also gets gold in the spire. I am only able to do half what I was before the changes were made. I also have a baby city on a different 10-chest tourney group. That FS doesn’t bother with the spire. It’s a waste of resources. None of us are going beyond chapter three. What’s the point? Going further in the research tree only makes it harder to do anything. Having AWs only makes it harder. The game is becoming less fun and more work. Games should be fun and relaxing, not stressful. However, if that was your goal with the changes, then perhaps designing games isn’t really your thing.

Great game that is going downhill fast

This game is a wonderful gem that is a rare find in the mobile world, and by that I mean it truly is f2p and you can enjoy it with or without spending money (which has previously led me to spend money purely for the sake of supporting the game, which I enjoy doing). That being said, the developers have made a significant number of changes in recent months, and almost all of them have been downgrades for the game. Events are worse, prizes are worse, etc. What I cannot understand is that it cannot even be explained as a p2w move, since players would just be spending money to earn more of the same worse prizes. I really hope this turns around soon, because as I mentioned this game has been very enjoyable, but for now it is going in a very negative direction. For any new players out there, you will still feel the effects of the downgrades, because veteran players will have that much more of a permanent benefit over you.

    Continual crashes on older iPads

This game is not playable on any iPad two years or older. The game continually crashes and on higher levels the crashes are constant. The simple fact is that the game REQUIRES newer processors. Tech support refuses to acknowledge that this is the case. I have two different older iPads and this is the case on both of them. Conversations with other players with older Apple products have indicated that this is an ongoing issue. I cannot do quests anymore because when entering the World Map to fulfill quest requirements, the game immediately crashes without fail. I have updated the game and my OS and this has not solved the problem. Bottom line...take a pass and play something more stable. All of my other games work fine. Edit: l want to re-emphisize that tech support WILL NOT acknowledge that this game will not work on older Apple products. The solution offered does not work. I have restarted my iPad and the game still constantly crashes. I have +5 GB free space too. However, the saving grace is that l can access my game through a computer. As it stands, my rating stays the same as it relates to Apple mobile devices.
