A good game but I have two suggestions
So overall this game deserves 5 stars, with or without the recommendations it is an excellent game in all ways with no faults that go under the radar and it definitely deserves a try, it is an excellent game if a little tedious but overall, yes, 5 stars unless you want to nitpick every little tiny mishap that happens, now onto the suggestions. For one I would like to see even re-runs, it feels bad to have missed out on things that look really neat and that I would really enjoy to have on my reef all because of a lack of time, even if we’d have to pay splash bucks or something for it I would love to have a chance to continue on an event I missed out on. Now this is more of a personal suggestion, I think you should add comb jellyfish, they’re overall neat animals but grossly underrepresented in media in general, and they’re very interesting as well, being the largest living animals to use cilia for movement and all that, anyways with or without these suggestions the game is excellent and does deserve a try if you are thinking of downloading it.
The BEST Aquarium / Fish tank / Underwater game!!
I went through a lot of games before finding Splash. Many were limited in their intricacies of game play. Splash has beautiful graphics, calm music, soothing motion and engaging but not impossible challenges. It is also rewardingly educational! An unexpected bonus as I came to play but have learned more about real fish than I was planning to while really enjoying the gameplay. I especially appreciate the safe feeling while playing. I happen to be terrified of sharks so finding a game I can enjoy the beauty of the underwater world while not hearing or seeing threats is so pleasant. Underwater games can tend toward oppressiveness but Splash managed to create a cheerful scene while maintaining a realism that promotes knowledge of real fish types. Thank you! I hope to play many more games by your team!
Great Long term Game
IM AT LEVEL 28 and my game is crashing. I pay for Chloe, I want a new Chloe at the end of the month for this inconvenience. I wouldn't even categorize it as a ”game” more like a relaxation tool. It is peaceful, I appreciate that the fish never die. Meaning there's no urgency to come back every hour or so. That's how games lose business, no one has time to keep up with fish that die every hour. The fish are there when I log in and out. Thank you for my mini aquarium! Suggestions As I have read on most reviews including Facebook etc, Please do RE-Runs! Allow us to pick up where we left off. You do a new fish once a month for 10 days or so. Maybe Re-Runs can be every 2months or so for 10 days. Please do. I'm noticed that releasing epic fish have the Worst gifts to offer. The only reason I release them is for thriving and missions. You would think since they take the longest to release and are the hardest to obtain I would get a conch shell or a epic stone. Or even a blue uncommon gemstone. Nope it's just more fish stones, nothing special. Always a disappointment when releasing epic and rare fish. Surprisingly the uncommon fish will give you the most of what you need. Thank you it is a lovely pass time.
Updated review.
Cons: -You still cannot get the rare gems to open up reef space for plants and the purchase price is ridiculous. I’m sorry, I’m not paying $25 -$50 to buy enough reef bucks to open one or two slots. Not happening. -The clams used to be challenging and gave EXCELLENT prizes. Now all three are way too easy to “tag” and they give lame prizes. Pros: Fun, informative(teaches real information about actual underwater wild life) and is addictive. You can also play for free quite happily. Leveling up has gotten better and you can earn an adequate amount of coins. You also get 1 new mission every 24 hours after completing a previous one. Suggestions: I still think there should be a way to buy keys. If there was a way to buy keys (at a reasonable price- such as 50 cents per key, and you have to buy them in batches of 10) I would gladly pay this amount. Also, It might be a good idea to make a way to earn or buy (again at a reasonable price) the rare gems needed to open up reef space. Overall I am very happy with this game. I play it continually throughout the day and it’s even one I play with my small child because she gets to learn about fish. Keep up the good work guys!
Beautiful, fun and informative
Not sure who loves this game more, me or my cats. They come running when they hear it. This game is beautiful and adaptable to your play style. You can check in on it once a day, feed the fish and watch them interact or go all out and compete with your friends to finish missions and unlock new content. Each fish species has a different personality that matches it’s real life counterpart. Some will chase other fish, some drift along the bottom singly, others school and so on. Each fish has a quest and when you complete it you unlock a page with information about the real life fish. Unlike some games the fish do not die if you don’t check in and there are no annoying ads.
Awesome Support and Game!
I’ve been playing this for quite some time now. Often, when I max out a game (levels) I get bored and quit playing. But not this game! It’s relaxing and fun to see all the fish grow and release them to the reef. The information on the various species is spot on and terrific. Support is AWESOME! I rarely find support that is responsive, but support in this game goes above and beyond! I dealt with Bryce when my game wouldn’t load. At least twenty emails went back and forth in the month it took to finally get everything squared away. Bryce was courteous and helpful despite my end of the game not loading as he saw it on his end. Kudos to a fantastic game and even more so to support that actually cares about their customers!
Great game only one issue
So this is the first time that I’ve actually sought out to search and review a game in the App Store and it’s because of a few reasons. First of all, this is a great way for me to actually have and take care of fish without the having to feed them everyday and clean a tank out. It’s commitment without the commitment which is perfect. Second, it relaxes me. You literally feed, release, and then make more fish. Super easy and thoughtless. Third and perhaps most important is that when I updated my game, something happened and it took all of my coins away. I mean like a large amount. I sent in the concern and within a few hours my coins were back with a message on my account. I mean I don’t know how much better it could get with response time and actually taking time to help me. It took a long time to get those coins! The ONLY reason that I am not giving this five stars is because I think that getting the items later on in the game becomes harder if not impossible to keep getting these new shells and I’m spinning in circles waiting for the other fish to drop them. That is the only thing I have an issue with. There are no bazillion ads that you have to deal with or annoying this or that. Just simple and easy fun. :)
Only 1 problem...
I really enjoy this game, I've been playing it for quite awhile. It's relaxing and my grandkids love to see all the cool fish floating around, I can't seem to keep real fish alive so I'm pretty proud of myself for building this reef. My cat REALLY gets a kick out of it. HAHA! Anyway, the only thing I do NOT like is the drop rate of the gems needed to open up new decoration spots. Of the 6 I have available at my current level, 4 of them require 10 of the same thing. There is only 1 species of fish that drop it and very, very rarely do they drop 1, even with multiple fish of that species, which is also hard to reach because the odd ball gem required to create THAT species rarely gets dropped by the one fish I need it from. That part is extremely frustrating. So, my suggestion to support is to either up the drop rate, or change the requirements for the decor slots so they don't have as many slots with the same requirements. I will continue playing and when I can't create anything else, or run out of challenges, I will start all over again.
Splash: Ocean n Reef building fun!
I'm having such fun with this little app. Very impressive ntm addicting. There have been a few glitches... i.e. Game wouldn't load for days, and for several weeks it was impossible to buy even the smallest amount of Splash bucks but they got fixed eventually. At present, Splash is the first app I open...and the last app I close before going to sleep. Just gotta collect my plant Splash bucks n edibles to keep up. So many of the critters cost so very much, plus getting certain gems n' shells are as scarce as game-playing funds are when living on paltry disability fixed income! However, you have a real nice game going here. Hope it's around for a long time...especially if Splash rewards become more prolific/Those rare shells-gems appear more frequently/Overall costs come down a bit__more inline with the majority of folks' incomes. Thank you kindly for this game. 😁
Coins and Bugs
As someone who constantly switches between apps, there is one bug in Splash, Starlight, and Flutter that severely impacts my satisfaction. If I exit out of the app for a bit and get back on it, a lot of times the screen will be frozen. I have to completely close the app and reopen it for it to work again. This is the reason I uninstalled the app long ago before recently installing it again. At the beginning it was a bit hard to get enough coins to be able to easily feed your fish, but once you ended up with a lot of decorations, it was significantly easier. An auto-collecting feature would be nice, but even without it the game is extremely fun! Otherwise, the game itself is very enjoyable and I love the educational side of it as well. The concept is great, just like all of Runaway’s games. Seriously, a sanctuary to rebuild a coral reef? Amazing. It’s insanely addicting.
Something Bad...
Ok so I know that I’ve had this app before and I absolutely loved it, for that experience I give it a full 5 stars. So I decided to get this app on my new phone along with Starlight and Flutter because I loved both of the other games so much as well. The one problem is I couldn’t even pass the tutorial! I hatched to fish, yes good, I grew them up let them go, fine alright. Then I get to the part where you have to open the Aquapedia and the app always closes, this wouldn’t be too too big of a problem if it wasn’t the tutorial and I could do something else, but it wasn’t. I tried about ten times. Then I tried to open a different app and then go back and it continued to glitch. I’m going to keep this app just in case the glitch will stop and I can retry, but this is sort of a big issue effecting my experience with the game. I know this can be fixed but this is what is giving you three stars. If you are reading this review as a recommendation to see if you should get the app, sorry you had to read this much, but also download it see if you like it. It’s a wonderful app and you should really try it. As soon as my game starts working I will edit this review to 5 stars but until then it stays at three. Thank you for reading this review, and I hope you have good day.
More needs to be happening in the game
It’s a fun game, but is in no comparison to the Flutter games, not because this game has to do with underwater creatures and that has to do with butterflies and moths, but because this game can get boring. It’s a game I don’t play for a long time, because there is only so few things you can do, and it can get quite boring. I would suggest there being more things to do even after you feed the fish. Things to keep me intrigued, because the goals can take a long time to obtain. There has to be more intrigue, and there needs to be more depth about the coral reef and just about the sea life, in general. Not that there isn’t information about the sea life or anything of that matter, it’s just that the gameplay can feel a bit claustrophobic, with not too many places to go. I don’t feel like there is the same quality in this game as there is in the Flutter games. Still, I have faith for it. Such nice a beautiful idea, to be able to help species flourish and to have your own coral reef. It’s just needs to have more of an oompf for me.
Game won’t open
I downloaded this game a while ago and all was fine, the fish were cute and it was relaxing....then I went a few weeks without playing it. Soon I checked on it again and for some reason, the game would not open. I’d see the intro screen then it would turn black and I’d have to close the app. I deleted it (luckily I saved my account info) and downloaded it again. This time, the game actually made it past the beginning screen and to the loading bar, but every time I try to play it loads fully then the app crashes and closes itself. I want to contact app support but the only way to send them a direct complaint (not through the game, because that requires the game to be able to load first) is to download a mail app that I’m not interested in getting. I hope the issue is resolved soon because I really did enjoy this game.
Bugs becoming intolerable
Updated review: Twice I have leveled up and not received an expansion key despite a menu popping up and clearly showing me that I just revived one. This is especially frustrating considering how long it takes to level up and that's part of the point of the game. I love the fact that they display real species information and do not have any of that weird cross breeding of invented fish in other apps, but this nonsense is making not want to play any more. It's also ridiculous that as you level up it's so hard to get the necessary gems to make the fish you have to wait days before producing your first fish. There is no incentive to watching adds either; do you seriously expect me to sit through another 30 second add for Botox if you only give me enough coins to feed one fish? Check out tap tap fish for a very well executed reef simulator. Fun game that suffers from annoying bugs such as some numbers can't be seen because they are obscured by their hordes and gems you need to level up new fish do not register as being collected which is annoying because it makes it impossible to level up certain fish like sea horses. Also any out of app menus like FAQ show up upside down which is really annoying.
