    PLEASE READ AND REPLY!

I have never gone this far to rate and write a review about a game before, but this is different. This game is truly incredible and believe it could be a lot better if it wasn’t lacking certain things. First off, I got the game and immediately fell in love with it. Every time I play it’s incredible and it’s difficult and fun and strategic all at the same time. With that being said, I was really enjoying everything about the game. The only downside I have about the game is when I finally finished the final boss, I was looking forward to new planets to travel to and new enemies and new bosses to battle as well. Once I defeated the boss there was none of that...it was exactly the way it was before except the planets were switched in order. That really hit me hard, because this game has so much potential and it’s truly a great game. Please if you could make it where there are many more places to travel and bosses and enemies to defeat, as well of being more classes to use and more stuff to purchase in the shop and other things like that. The game itself is truly incredible and I thank everybody who has made the game and worked hard on it. First time I ever rated a game hoping you guys will hear the fans out. Thank you!

    Love this game!!!

You guys did a great job with all of the mechanics in this game. I have completely beat this game and all I’m lacking is the achievements. I would love to see you guys go above and beyond in the next few updates. I personally feel like this game has so much potential and with a few updates it can be one of the better games in the App Store. I think some new ranger weapons would be very nice and I think the priest should have a weapon type that scales off of magic kinda like how the other classes are. Also new planets and enemy’s would be amazing. It would be cool if the next planet you added was created to be a holy type world, because right now the only holy type is the boss in he side quest on the ice planet. Also I believe if you added more element typed weapons it would increase the games replay value. I’ve spent the last couple months just playing this game because there not any others like it in the App Store so you guys really have something special here I hope y’all run with it and make something truly special out of it.

Easy to understand and simple yet satisfying gameplay

I’ve been playing all the time recently, just because this game is so addicting. You’ll constantly find this game doesn’t play around. You’ll need good luck and strategy to succeed in this game. I do have a complaint that I’ve been facing throughout my experience though. There are 3 spirits in this game. One revives you, one give you extra cards, and one gives you extra money. They appear once you die, open a chest, or clear an area respectively. However, they cost real life money. This is ok, and I understand why this was implemented. Yet, I ask for the developers to change something about the system. Please add an option to turn them off, or at least change it so they can’t appear when your offline? I play online and offline, and I watch the ads when I’m online. But I’m not watching ads or paying money for these spirits offline. It annoys me to no end. Please fix this when ever you get the time. Once again amazing game and I hope it only gets better

    I love this game

I have quite honestly fallen in love with this game. The art and story are extremely charming. The concept is not difficult to grasp but there is still a decent challenge to it. There are older reviews complaining about ads, but if that was a problem before it definitely isn’t know. I’m used to other games having an ad pop up every time I complete something, but in this game the ads are not excessive. There are a few optional ones (opening mystery packs and reviving) that you can say no to without any negative consequences to your game. There is sometimes a random ad when going into a new room, but those are really rare. You can definitely play the game without paying anything, but if you really dislike the few ads there are its only a few dollars to get rid of them forever. The only real issue I’ve been having is that sometimes the ads won’t work when I am trying to open a mystery pack, but that’s not an issue with the game itself, it’s just a glitch.

A challenging and satisfying game with a lot of replay value

Don’t be fooled by its kiddie graphics; Void Tyrant is a challenging and rewarding play for seasoned gamers. So much so that your first run-throughs may involve you dying quickly as you learn the somewhat-deep strategies and work to unlock the early game perks. VT’s pacing felt slow to me at first, which I now feel was due to inaccurate assumptions about the game. This is not about quickly hacking and slashing your way to the boss battle at the end of each world; each enemy has the capacity to kill you, and each encounter presents it’s own challenge. This built-in difficulty is multiplied when you realize healing mid-world is very rare and the end bosses are always challenging. The game has managed to stay fresh for me over my initial two-dozen playthroughs, due to a combination of rouge-lite elements (like randomly appearing characters and opportunities), as well as getting a bit farther each time—which is a really rewarding experience. Oh, and unlike many mobile titles, the devs here have really made the overall user interface and experience smooth and enjoyable. There are even a surprising number of ways to customize your experience, which shows to me the value of play-testing. Surprising and appreciated! All in all, I am glad I kept coming back to VT and got through the initial learning curve. I can see myself playing this in my spare moments for a long time to come. Thank you for making such a great game!

    Addicting , but VERY tough

This game, it takes a while to really get into it. The mechanics are pretty simple, like a game of rolling dice, with the highest number winning the attack. The card variations are unique, and interesting enough to keep me engaged. Although this game is tough, once you are able to form good strategies with your deck, you can easily get to the second/third planet every time (with luck on your side of course). However, I feel that the final boss is a bit too overpowered for where he is. To get all the way to his lair, and then fight two equally challenging phases is quite exhausting, especially if you are already weak from the past enemies. I was able to get his 2nd form down to 70 health, before I finally fell (which was very frustrating). The runs last at least 20 minutes if you have a good build, which means that getting back is quite annoying. I also think the RNG is heavily lenient towards the enemies when it comes to making risky plays. They will be at 9 attack points, and still survive most of the time without shooting over (with me failing more times then not). That being said, this game is entirely built around luck, so if you don’t like those games, DO NOT get this one. Finally, the ads are sort of an overkill, with at least 3-4+ in each planet (depending how you choose to use them). Anyways, good game !

Addictive deck building adventure - one suggestion

I went searching for deck building games, and saw this one, after playing a few runs, I decided to pay the $5 to get all three spirits, making the game advertisement free, worth it, if you enjoy the play other than the ads. I’ve spent maybe a total of $25 on any iPad games in 10 years, and I don’t regret that 1/4 of that went to this game. Since purchasing, I’ve beaten the void tyrant twice with my knight, and am working hard to beat it with the priest or duelist now. I’ve unlocked and fully upgrades all of the town buildings, at for two wins. (Are there more upgrades available as you beat the void tyrant more times?) One suggestion that reduce the frustrations of short runs due to mistaken taps, or early losses. Add in the ability to restart an encounter before dying, charging half our money or something like that. Many times I’ve accidentally discarded a card I meant to play, or didn’t realize I had a condition giving me damage for playing a hand card, and lost early on accidentally. Rather than using up the spirit for resurrection, it would be great to just restart that battle for a price.

    Please fix bugs

The game is great, but I ran into problems in the endless mode after the final boss which ultimately halted my run. After getting onto a tile with a chest, I watched the advertisement for the extra reward. I decided that should be a reasonable place that the game will save. I closed the app and returned later. When I did, the game treated me as if I am still inside a battle or as if I am still dealing with that chest. There was no cards to play, no arrows to advance, and no chest on the screen. The only thing I could do was to restart and choose the option to forfeit my run. I did that, and thankfully the boss’s gem registered, but my earnings were not. I collected 5000 coins during that run (watching all those ads willingly!) and it went into neither the coffer nor the statistics. So now, the game increased in difficulty and I’m short of that 5000 coins which I collected for nothing. This is seriously frustrating, but given that the game has launched only recently as of this review and the fact that the game was enjoyable, I decided to give it a fair rating. I hope this helps the developers in fixing the problem.

Love the game, but it could use some improvements

First off i’d like to say i adore this game. It’s fun, addictive, and just really good in general. But there’s one thing that bothers me. I feel like the randomness of the battles is too much. I get that the randomness is part of the game and all of that, but it just seems to get in the way of the element of strategy at times. I sometimes feel cheated on when i take one risk and all of a sudden i die from it. It just seems really unfair since it happens so frequently and can end a whole run just like that. Another problem is the fact that the player doesn’t heal after a battle. Healing seems necessary since damage can really build up over time and make the game a whole lot harder, along with making risks a lot more, well, risky. There is a much higher chance to die from that risk since your health is low. That level of risk seems too high, considering the fact that sometimes you’re forced to take that risk since luck was on the enemy’s side. Anyway, that’s all i have to say. I look forward to seeing new updates and improvements on this great game.

    I like this game, but...

This game is super enjoyable and clever... except for when it is obviously rigged against you. I will have turns where I use cards to put myself at a critical win, and then the opponent will just happen to also get to a critical win to tie against me just by luck without using any hand cards. Which may seem like I’m just blaming the AI, but honestly I’ve had it happen 3-4 turns in a row, causing battles to drag on when you should’ve won already. Bosses are especially guilty of this, they just get waaay more lucky just from random drawing than they should. I tried to not get annoyed by it, but I’ve been through a LOT of playthroughs at this point, and it keeps happening. I’m winning, until the boss goes on a huge streak of luck where they just get critical after critical. I don’t know how this could happen so often if the game AI wasn’t designed to rig the fights, so I have to assume that’s what’s happening. Like I said, it’s a very clever and fun game... until you get creamed because the game decides it wants to beat you and starts seemingly cheating

Great presentation but needs more control

So this game changes up the deck building formula by using a blackjack like system where the player needs to get as close as possible to 12 without going over, and the number they have over the enemy determines their damage, or vice versa. You also have a variety of cards which add damage and effects. But it takes too long to finish battles with this back and forth system and seems like there are too many systems and stats to keep track of. Also the blackjack system feels like the player has no control and frequently the battle slides into the enemy’s favor. It seems like they can play any card they want although it’s apparently limited by their EP level. Basically there’s a “black box” of what’s going on on the enemy’s end and it makes the game frustrating. However I do like that there are lots of ways to customize your runs with unique characters and armor to buy/find. I’ll keep trying it, because I love its style, but it’s slower and more convoluted than other deck builders in the AppStore.

    Wow

I think this is a great game! But I have to agree with everything Blueice524 has reviewed. Also There is a bug glitch when you get far in this game. I made it to level 21 and I got a chest and opened it. The game froze so I restarted it. Normally when you restart it would reset the room but all data would have been saved. It automatically killed my level 21 hero and sent me back home. I was highly upset because I was FINALLY beat my high score. I have my town fully upgraded, it gave me no opportunity to pass down ANY cards or perks, I got ZERO mystery packs, and I had AT LEAST 10,000 guldins that were basically STOLEN!! LEVEL 21 WARRIOR!!! I thought that was just so unfair. Also there is a bug glitch with the card “power surge”. When you get a combo of close to 20 hits or more using the “power surge” card, it will automatically freeze your game. I had 110 EP so I would often find myself trying to use/discard cards just to waste energy so my game wouldn’t freeze. Please read and fix all these problems. This game deserves 5 stars for sure! But it’s the performance of the app that cost you 2 stars from me. Please fix and I will give 4 stars. 4 because I’m still mad at you guys about my LEVEL 21 THAT WAS SO UNFAILINGLY DESTROYED!!! 😤😤😒😒😒

    Bad

Game constantly shoves advertisements down your throat. Every time you want to open a chest, unlock a pack of cards, or get a second life it’ll want you to play an advertisement, and then if you refuse it’ll play an advertisement as soon as you leave the area anyways. The game is basically pay to win just because it shows you advertisements so much that you just want to not unlock anything. Difficulty is unbalanced. I like hard games, but only when the enemies use strategy. It’s not fun when it feels like the enemies are cheating just to make the game harder. Drawing cards doesn’t feel like it’s based on chance at all. An enemy will be at 12 and I’ll use a knock down card to reset it and they go straight back to 12 again. Or I’ll finally get a 12 and they’ll match it and it’ll do no damage. Secondly, the first boss you fight is over powered. He has 2 cards that he plays together that each give him two more attacks so even if he only gets 1 point more than you at the start, both of those cards he plays will add on and make a total of 5 attacks and he can easily kill you in just 1 or 2 turns. Third point, it’s extremely repetitive. Die? You start again from the beginning. Win? You go on to the next map which is just all of the same planets in a different order.

    Fun, but short

This game has a pretty fun play through, once you get the hang of it it’s possible to beat the boss fairly quickly, so my three gripes I have about it are that 1) it seems pretty short (of course you can replay with a different character to upgrade the town), 2) there’s a bug where when I have tried to watch an ad to unlock a pack of cards or get more coins, once the ad is complete the reward isn’t given (I had to watch about 4 ads just barely before opening a pack, and most recently none of the ads are opening the pack, even though I’ve watched 5 ads which is why I’m writing this. 3) the story seems pretty lacking given how much time was spent on other parts of the game (art, gameplay). I’m pretty sure there was maybe a two paragraph explanation of why the heroes need to save the galaxy, and who they’re saving it from? Not super immersive. Fun overall! Would recommend, I’d give 4 or 5 stars if the ad bug hadn’t become an issue. Edit: dropping to two stars because all my progress from my (really long) last run was deleted. Not sure what happened there, I had finished and started a new run but my progress is all gone.
