    Thousands of rounds

I’ve played thousands of rounds with the obnoxious ads for free. It’s 3:1 and I feel like the game plays me harder the more I win. I just played a 17 round classic. I shot the moon first round and they wouldn’t let me do it again until the last round. The players actually passed me lots of low hearts. When the game is matching your level of play it makes you better. If you like hearts you’ll like this game. I’ve played for years and every hand is different. The app is great if you wanna practice new strategies. It’s layout is simple and easy to use. It was the first hearts app I ever downloaded and I’ve never needed to look for another one. The only thing I want is the option to take 26 points off my score or give everyone else 26 when I shoot the moon while playing on my iPhone. The free iPad version has it in its settings but not the iPhone yet.

    Love the game, but...

I’ve been playing hearts since I was a kid, almost 50 years, and I’m pretty good at it. The AI on this game is frequently very stupid, no matter the difficulty setting. Just now it had the option of playing the q of spades on the leader and it didn’t. Sometimes it goes into a phase where the deals do not seem random. There will be game after game where I cannot win. A random deal with an AI should not lead to a dozen or more games in a row that cannot be won. In the multi player game, there should be something done about the trash talking and bullying by many players. It makes the game less enjoyable to see that going on. Personally, I do not engage it I have seen others get quite upset. There should be a way to report such behavior and to get people banned or at least suspend for a time.

    HELLS 500

I love this game! It is my addiction! I like that you can pass the Queen, it adds strategy. Allow opening lead to be either a club or a diamond I would also like the freezing in the app to improve which has caused me to be booted more than a few times. Also, if a player leaves the game then ends up winning the game, there is currently zero points awarded or subtracted. I think in that case, the 2nd place person should get 15 pts, 3rd place should get 10pts and last place 5pts or zero (whatever your thought is). When someone leaves a game before it is over, there should be a 10 pt penalty! There should be no penalty charged and no points lost if the game glitches before it ends and people get booted. If a person goes into stall mode b/c they are loosing or feel a player shouldn’t have stuck them with the queen, that staller should be booted if they don’t play within 7 seconds AND they should be penalized 10 points. This scenario is the most frustrating when playing hearts in this app. Lastly, if you win like 10 games in a row, you should provide a 50 point bonus for that unbelievable achievement. Add comment “nice title”, “good play”, “sorry”

    A real Ace Hole

Great format. I mostly do “Multiplayer” against other online combatants. The hands are fair. The players are generally very skilled. My only complaints are slow play, people quitting in mid-game; and intervening ads which delay my being able to play continuously and quickly. I am sometimes dropped because I couldn’t get back to the game, having to fight through too many ads. We should be allowed to pay to eliminate all ads. Also, I play on another site where if your play is too slow the computer makes the play for you, whether you agree or not. Don’t be deterred by the negatives. This still my favorite Hearts site.

Make this electronic game more like an actual hearts card game:

In an actual Hearts game with cards, after a trick is played and the four cards are laid face up in the center of the table, the player who takes the trick takes those four cards and turns them FACE DOWN in a pile in front of him or her. Then, while the game progresses, each player is only able to see the cards he or she has taken. In this manner, to successfully “shoot the moon,” a player has to remember if any of the other players have taken a heart card. In this electronic game, one can not only clearly see how many hearts each player has taken, but one can also look at the actual cumulative score as the game progresses. This is not possible in an actual hearts game with real cards. Suggestions: 1. Only display the hearts count of the person playing the game. 2. Only display the score count of the last hand tally, then update the score AFTER each hand. Eliminate the running score count.

    Pretty great

I really love this app, but there are 2 issues I feel should be addressed. First, when you are playing in single player on the hard AI setting, they almost always give you the Queen of Spades. To me, this is wrong. The difficulty should be in the AI algorithm, as opposed to simply giving the actual player a worse hand. Second, from what I can tell, there is no way to block, mute, or report other players. When I was first learning to play, I was spoken to by several other players in a vulgar, insulting, and almost threatening manner. Though I have improved, I have continued to watch other people face the same behavior. There’s nothing wrong with talking or complaining (especially when other players could clearly block a moon and they don’t), but there should be a way to avoid overly aggressive players or at least mute them/ the chat. Add to this the fact that these players do this in “casual” games, and that makes it even worse in my opinion.

    Need help.

I have tried to add feedback and get help in the app. It says I need a mail account. I don’t know how to sign up for one since I use gmail on my phone, not Apple mail. I wish there was an account tab where I could put in my email for this purpose. We use the app to play Hearts with my partner’s senior citizen parents. It’s the best app we have found but the problem is they can’t always figure out how to escape the ads between rounds and eventually one of them often times out. Alternatively if someone loses hold of their phone and accidentally hits the “boot” button on a player, they are immediately booted. It would be helpful if there was an “Are you sure you want to boot this person from the game....” pop-up, OR (even better) if you could re-invite or re-add the person back into the game instead of having a random person (or Watson) added to the crew. I’d love help with these issues instead of airing my frustration here. I wish I could write the company myself. Sorry if this is a negative review. We love the app when it works but tonight, for example, it was a problem and we had to restart 3 times and the third time we had to stop because my partners mom’s eyes are so bad she was getting tired. Thanks for trying to help.

    Good Game, Could Be Better

I love hearts, one of my favorite card games of all time. This is a great app, simple and easy to use. However it gets only 3 stars for one simple reason. The rated games seem to only go to 50 points. 50 point games only ruin hearts. It removes most of the strategy from the game and turns it into a game of duck. For instance if someone shoots once, you’re probably going to lose. If you eat the Queen once you’re probably going to lose. I’ve played hundreds of times ranked matches and if either of these previous conditions are met it’s something like a 95% chance of losing. Isn’t playing hearts supposed to be about strategy and manipulation of the outcomes of each hand? With the way it’s set up now in ranked there is 0 of either. In a 100 point game you CAN eat the queen more than once to stop someone from shooting and still win with a high probability. The same goes with someone shooting. With 100 point games you can be dealt a bad hand or a few in a row and STILL recover to win. In a 50 point game LOLOLOL. All you’ve done by making ranked matches 50 points is take almost ALL semblance of strategy out of the game and make it all about luck of the deal. You’re not ranking ability of the player, but luck of your dealing algorithm. Please please fix this. Allow for 100 point ranked matches and 3 stars will EASILY become 5. Until then you’re lucky to get the 3 you got.

    Awful multiplayer and intrusive ads

I️ get you need to monetize apps but holy cow is it awful in this app. They happen after every round, some play music or audio which should be allowed to be toggled off, and the x to close the ad is tiny and in a different random corner so you always look for it in the top right but your thumb has been sitting on it in the bottom left. Should be required to be in one and only one spot. And if you miss click you need to close out the entire app sometimes. It took an hour to try to add my girlfriend so we could play on a car ride home and even that wasn’t enough time to figure out the adding someone else online. There’s no search feature or even find local via WiFi or Bluetooth option so I️ honestly have no clue how to add her without forcing to log into Facebook that I️ don’t want to do. Also I’m too lazy to update to iOS 11.1.2 so sorry for my I’s being I️

    Could definitely be better

I see a bunch of players complaining about the single player, but someone needs to complain about the multiplayer side. Especially the ranked games. The amount you win/lose is completely random and unfair. I have been placed 2nd, 3rd, 4th and each time, I get - points. Which is completely fine, but each time, I’m the one who loses the most out of the other players. I get -8 and the other two players get -6 and -7. Now on to where I win... there was a time where I won 32 points. I took 3 points the entire game. But when I won the game with 0 points, I only won 24. What is up with this ranking system?? It’s totally bogus and unfair to good players. Something needs to be fixed! Oh, and I am starting to see a major issue with this game acting like a malicious virus. Closing the game to open the App Store when you haven’t tapped the screen anywhere.

    Multiplayer game

I have been playing the single mode for a long time and recently started playing the multiplayer online game with real people. But I cannot figure out the scoring when the jack of diamond option is on!! I understand it subtract 10 points from the person who takes it in a round but I followed up a game and noticed my opponents are getting negative scoring even without taking it! I couldn’t figure out what I am missing! Obviously I keep on loosing :( I tried google the issue in every possible way but the issue did not come up in any search. I know it not a developer issue but just understanding the game, which I thought I did after playing it for so long but this drives me insane! The app review is the only place I thought maybe I’ll find some answers.... Please respond! I want to keep playing the game but without this key understanding of this mystery I’m lost...

    Not bad

This game itself is great. The problem is with the players. Too much quitting, and penalizing people for quitting after someone else already had. Only the first quitter should be penalized. There are three game rooms, but only one ever gets any action. I’m not sure why the other two exist. Seasoned players often face noobs, which is frustrating. The rating system should apply to rooms, so people can play against players of equal ability. And with the chat, apparently anyone can be banned for any reason without explanation. I’ve been banned from chat for nothing, and I’m pretty sure it’s because someone reported me out of spite. When you are banned, no reason is given, and no recourse is available. If the admins are going to police so strictly, at least give a reason for the ban. Ive asked for explanations in the past, and received no response. It’s pretty frustrating.

    ...

Seven years ago I reviewed this app (which, I believe, was under a slightly different title) with four stars, saying that the AI was good and the banner ads unobtrusive. Well, time has not been kind to this game. I wouldn’t have guessed it was a Hearts game I’d played before, except for the little “cloud” icon showing it was in my library. The look is different, the feel is different, the use of ads much more aggressive. Look, I don’t mind ads for a free game, but the worse the game, the more irritating I find the intrusive ads. And in this case, the game just feels shoddy. The biggest problem is how slow and unresponsive it is. I have to hit cards multiple times to select them, sometimes they hang up for a few seconds before playing, there’s nothing smooth about the way the graphics unfold on the screen. And my iPad is only a year old—it’s not an outdated technology issue. I’m not sure how good the AI is at this point, but it’s hard to care when the rest of the app is a struggle.

Ads are Super Obnoxious and a Rip-off

The ads are ridiculous. It’s not so much that the ads themselves are obnoxious. That’s business; you develop a nice game app, you capitalize on it. What’s obnoxious about it is a number of ads have such a small and narrow precise point (X) in which to kill it (once the X becomes available) that more times than not you end up inadvertently clicking on the ad. You then have to click back out of the app store, which takes you to a Safari window for the product that was being advertised; then you can click back to the game. This is super annoying for the user and a huge ripoff to the advertisers who, more than likely, are paying a premium when someone clicks on their ad. By making that kill spot so small and precise no doubt they get tons of unintended clicks they have to pay for; clicks from people like me who have absolutely no interest in the product they’re selling. Otherwise, it’s a great game. If the developer would do something about the ads I’d give it 5 stars.
