Great game but
I like music but usually turn it off after a while to just have game sounds. But there are VERY few. All the little factories need sounds. Not too loud or complex just something location based. It’s weird to not have anything. Other than that I wish there was a way and maybe there is to pay to remove all adds and just have permanent speed increase or something. I understand why adds are necessary due to to free to play model but I would prefer a pay to opt out option that gives me a permanent boost. Instead of adds to get items. 5 stars for sure with theses little changes. Also iPhone X support would be much appreciated.
To many pop up causes unresponsive ness
While playing through the tutorial to many times after completing a mission that it lock up the controls and I’m unable to do anything. Currently I’m stuck in a part where “bob” shows up after I’ve completed a mission. Once I select my reward to progress forward. He shows up and my screen becomes locked. What’s his face pops up to tell me to build a work shop, but I can’t even exit the reward screen cause it wants me to click on bobs store. Which I can’t do cause I’m still in the rewards screen. And I can’t exit the rewards screen cause it wants me to click on bobs shop. Very frustrating I was really starting to enjoy. I would say don’t have it lock up anything at all. Just leave a stupid number bobble that would show me I have a new mission to complete. And if you want to get really fancy. When I click it, could take me to where I want to go (still don’t lock me up) Update: I can’t play the game now. I was able to get past the lock up, but now none of the people are doing anything. I tried turning off structures and now my whole population is idling. I can’t get them to do anything.
Mired in bugs
Conceptually, this game can be really fun. The humor is on point, and the cartoony art style is great. Too bad it's bogged down by so many bugs, and absurd building requirements. Once your population gets to about a 100, you're basically at a standstill.... Even if you pay for credits to open up rare crates, you'll be lucky to get a few, say, lighting panels you need to build that much needed oxygen generator. Unfortunately, building another now requires 10 panels. And I'm not sure if the game is supposed to progress even while you're idling (I'm guessing it is since I get attacked when I'm offline), but it seems nothing else does. The 10 bread requirement I needed to launch the next expedition hasn't decreased at all in several hours even though I disable all the other buildings except for those needed to make the bread.... I want to continue playing, but so far, I don't see any updates that make it worth my while. Such a shame... because this game had real potential to be excellent.
Pros & Cons
The game and Concept of the game is amazing the humor is hilarious, and the progression is easy enough. However there are several small bugs and kinks I find. A. Workers, workers in my opinion have their priorities mixed up. The should focus on staffing your building and then doing hauling. I wish you could set the order of priorities or assign jobs to people. Workers would work in buildings, haulers would haul items to houses and buildings to fulfill their requirements, and builders would haul items to buildings and then work on constructing them. In the current game you have everyone working on hauling and no one ever works in your buildings. B. For quests the requirements can be a little ridiculous. For example requiring 500 bread to build a juice factory is a little absurd and is possible but takes forever. I like the Idea but smaller requirements would be nice, like 100 bread instead of 500. Also because no one works in your buildings you never have any production which makes filling orders much more difficult. C. You need rare components to construct buildings. The only problem is that the ones you need are so rare that you can't progress at a reasonable rate because you always get stuck on a certain quest or population level where you have to wait word multiple weeks before you scavenge our fight for the parts you need. These are things I think need to be worked on or implemented.
Very addicting and fun... BUT
AI is completely broken. I don't know what makes them tick or why they do the things they do, it's not made clear at all. I have a completely empty house and I have absolutely no idea why. I don't understand why my factories, no matter how many workers there are, just stop producing or suddenly produce at the slowest rate possible. It's incredibly frustrating. And now I've hit a brick wall. I'm supposed to be expanding, but I've run out of blueprints. The only way to get blueprints is to do space battles or find them in chests. I've come to a point in battling where I can't go any further because of the difficulty, and every chest I've opened has yielded no blueprints, no matter how "pristine" they are. Overall it has potential, but the ai needs a LOT of work, there needs to be a better explanation for things within the game, and there needs to be more ways to get blueprints.
Needs improved UI
The game’s style and gameplay is the kind I really enjoy, but there needs to be improvements in the user interface. The game would feel more comfortable if you could switch between tabs, like opening the shop then tapping the missions tab to open it instead of closing and opening it. I would also like to get on with the story without collecting my reward from the previous mission to do so. Other than that are major bugs. Sometimes I open the iPhone’s control center or notification slide, and once I renter the game I can’t tap on buildings, menus disappear and I can’t build, only slide the screen. I would also like the game no not burn out my battery so quickly. You also have some grammatical errors, one being too and to. This is an enjoyable game, and I hope more than what I listed here would be achieved.
Still quite buggy
There seems to be a glitch in the store where you can buy an item that’s already been purchased and it deducts the money before it tells you that the item has already been purchased. Also, if there’s a lag between when you put something up for bid and when it shows up in your store; if you click the same store then put them another item in there you lose the first item. Also if you complete a mission before the story asks to complete the mission you can get stuck; for instance the bug mission asked me to destroy a hive after I destroyed one and I can not progress until I build blasters - a few weeks from now. There also seems to be a big disconnect between space missions and moon building. There isn’t much of a beginner level on base sacking.
Great potential, could use some work...
The initial setup of the game is great. I prefer the building aspects to the space combat which seems like an afterthought. Update: Watching ads seems to have disappeared. Things are now going exponentially slower. Current issues: The lack of ability to move buildings is a two edged sword. It forces commitment to your base setup but initially you’ll keep finding better methods which results in a restart. It’s faster to create a new game and rebuild your base correctly than wait for the special items in game. This is super frustrating. Watching ads to speed up buildings seems to be on an internal timer. But the button doesn’t disappear so it’s hard to tell when you can use it again. The game seems to be poorly optimized for older phones. I’m currently using a 6plus and I get tons of freezes, hang ups, glitches, slow downs, etc. Special items seem to have an internal rarity. The fans and scopes for water and houses respectively drop way less than the others. Pre-planning your strategy for these 2 buildings will help in the long run. Overall having lots of fun and I think the game has huge potential. I’m pretty excited to see how they expand this game in the future.
Fun, but needs work
I truly like this game! However, the pace is almost unbearably slow. It’s been 3 days since beginning construction on a particular building and it still isn’t done. It seems that when not actively playing the game, nothing happens. There’s plenty of content as far as I can tell so I don’t get why the progression is so stagnant. There also needs to be some optimization because the game freezes on me while turning my phone into a radioactive lava brick. I also get micro transactions, while annoying, it’s necessary for developers to continue to innovate. BUT, because of the mundane progression it pressures you into purchasing pointless chips to get enough resources to finish a building when you’d assume a population of 72 would get it done. Graphics are crisp and smooth and the concept of the game is great!
Fun game, resource hog
Atari has created a winning combination of city-building with some of the less rage-quit aspects of pvp. You start with a small group of colonists and build a resource producing star base. Products you create help feed the colonists and build other, more complex, elements (cars, computers, blasters). The more complex elements also help improve you starbase and starship for pvp action. PvP action is. Dueling other starships starbases. At this time, winning and losing is just a bragging right. Wins reward resources, losses are just losses with no true loss other than pride. Unfortunately, the game will burn through a phone battery in a very short period of time. Your phone will definitely work hard and heat up. Lock-ups are a continual feature of the game, resulting in a frozen screen or phone reset if running the game for a extended play. The game has a substantially reduced build time when offline, and the colonists tend to eat the food stocks overnight. Most of the game in later play results in rebuilding food storage and running the app overnight to replenish...hoping to avoid a lockup. Atari is on a winning path. Refocusing effort to phone resource management and AI intelligence could make this app a true enjoyment. Three out of five stars...
Needs work
I love this game, but it really needs some work done. First off, I built a distillery two days ago, none of my population has worked in it at all ever, so maybe add a button to call workers to a building. Second, it doesn’t seem to run correctly in the background, I’ve played other similar games and when I went to a different app to let them farm resources it did it accurately, but this one every time I come back after many hours no one is working and I would have gained exponentially more resources had I had it open. Third, special items are a bit too hard to obtain, yes I’m aware you did that so people would spend money, but it could be more fair about how often lighting and optical lenses drop from expeditions or crates, Fourth, speaking of crates, my town no longer receives crates I can open without credits, again I understand you have to make money, but that’s just absolutely shameless. Last, my fusion core reactor is going excruciatingly slow, like it used to refill to max several times a day, but now I get one item per two days, and that can’t be right. overall I really do love this game, but if this stuff isn’t fixed I’ll have to stop playing.
Really enjoying this game! Killer bugs though
This game is great, it’s challenging and has many different aspects to enjoy. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because the bugs can be detrimental. If you complete an objective like killing the aliens before you get the quest to kill them it doesn't auto complete even though you’ve already done what it’s asking so you’ve got to wait to move the story along until you complete the objective a 2nd time. This also happened to me with to 2nd solar panel quest, I had to build a whole 2nd power building and expand it. Silicon mine changes what it’s asking for and then changes back but doesn’t keep any of the resources you spent. Devs, I’m out 5 circuit boards and have nothing to show for it, that is weeks/months of play I now have to put in to get those resources back. Any chance you can return those?
Can only get so far
Tutorial is "ok" but could be more intuitive. I'm on an iPad Pro and you can play part way through the campaign. If you claim the prize from the storyline objective and trigger the factory and merchant additions, it spawns multiple screens and stops taking input. You can quit app and restart. It will take you to the point before you claimed the reward and triggered the event. You can continue to play, but claiming the reward and progressing the storyline will leave you stuck in the same spot unable to click on the screen after factory and merchant dialogues. Seems several people have this problem. I've tried about 20 times during three gaming sessions. No luck and no fix. Even though I played for a few more hours tonight, it's getting boring not being able to progress the storyline and unlocking new stuff.
AI of workers is broken
I have 46 workers, and only 14 assigned to buildings. I constantly have my buildings full and none of my 22 free workers will go get them. The only time they work is when I build a new building... they will take the materials to the construction site, empty my other buildings and then just go dormant. My buildings will be full for upwards of 30-45 minutes wo anyone working. I just keep getting the prompt to build more housing space. Also, they are all well fed to happy. Honestly, it’s becoming too much of a hassle to bother with the game anymore, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Even when I see the workers carry product around, it’s horribly I efficient. They will take raw materials to a processing facility but won’t bring the processed product back to storage. It’s just too unwieldy to play, I’ve restarted my base multiple times and have designed my base about as efficient as I could for the beginning but nothing seems to make them work.
