This game is a lot of fun to grow in especially if you are lucky like me and find a good alliance that chats and has fun together, though it does offer very useful in app purchases, this game is in now way pay to play or pay to win, everything is obtainable and nothing is too hard to obtain to the point that you almost have to buy it, you can just sit back and build your castle in your free time rather than constantly have to worry about missing a key event or an attack or raid, all the events in the game last for several days allowing every one no matter their schedule the chance to participate and they all give very generous and very useful rewards, it is extremely easy to understand and grow in and I definitely recommend it

This is a great game to play. You make friends and all, no info tho about you. One suggestion: In the game, you can only build one thing at a time. What if you could buy slots, so if you buy two, you could build three different things at once. Or, how about buy slots another way: when training soldiers, there are 3 slots, and you can unlock more. If, let’s say, you need a mace man and bow man. You could put mm in first slot, and bm in second. Mm would train first and when done, bm would train. I think that would be nice to have with construction. You are about to be done for the day, but instead of building one thing, you could build three. Ok, if you don’t know the game, that was probably confusing. So, all in all, GREAT game, have fun, and here’s a tip: join an active alliance. A good one.

First you start building, try to find an alliance for protection near your castle. DL Line App for alliance communication, build each castle and outpost quickly, obtain Castilian and commander pieces, contests; in app purchases for rubies to buy game related items and build your castle in green add your 3 outposts and other worlds such as Ever Winter, Sands and Fire. Find and conquer resource villages. Make player vs player hits and defend pvp and non player incoming attacks. learn how to attack and defend your fortresses. Conquer other non players to win rubies, resources and pieces. Lots of contests. This is a longevity game that takes time to learn and build. Easy, fun, alliance and personal wars, strategy at its finest.

This game is probably one of the best apps I have owned. This is one of those very few games you find that has great developers that always fix issues and will even give you gifts if it’s a big screw up. This game is not pay to win at all so if you want to be the best all you have to do is put time and effort into it. I do spend money on rubies when there is a 150% or 200% mark up only because I see it as a good investment later on as I grow my account. I have played on and off but have gotten back into for about a year now and it’s still the best game I’ve downloaded.

I cannot believe what I have read in reviews. I have 4 castles, all at the top level 70, and since I live outside the U.S. now, I cannot make any purchases from the game. Even challenged my self by not going into the 3 other Kingdoms. And I still made it to the top level! You do not have to spend money to play. There are plenty of offers to buy, but you do not have to! I do have to delete the game each time there is an update. Problem, Apple App Store. Sometimes does not show the up date but delete, then reload from cloud. Everything works.

This game is great without a doubt I have had an amazing time playing it with fellow friends and alliance members and it is a fun experience. However this game is a subtle pay to win game. People with the cash buy the better commanders, casts and armies/ tools to better their opponents. With new events coming in such as beyond the horizon this game has tilted the scale even further towards pay to win players. These people can simply buy whatever they need win the event and collect the new relic buildings and build items in order to further expand their power. I come from US2 and one or two groups literally own the entire server and it’s ridiculous. Good game studios continues to do this crap in all of their games though and that is what will be the downfall of the game. One more note, the lack of pvp in this game is terrible. Everyone either protects each other or has some no hit policy in store that constantly results in any one alliance getting out of hand to be put back into a peaceful utopia. It’s a war game not build your castle simulator everyone should be fighting, but as I said earlier no one wants to fight because they will only lose what they have paid for. Overall not a bad game but everyday it slowly gets worse and the developers aren’t helping with their new ideas.

Don’t get me wrong this game is great through the first twenty levels, but after that, it slows down significantly. Construction becomes A LOT more costly and takes much longer, sometimes even a couple real world days. To evade this you have to buy items that cost rubies, which are not very common to get. Rubies are that currency in a game where you have to buy it to have fun and do well, and empire is no exception. You may however meet many nice people in alliances but that doesn’t change the gameplay. They can send you resources and defense but these take time too, and if you want to speed up the process significantly, you guessed it, you need RUBIES. You also need rubies to be able to build several buildings simultaneously, and you need them to heal special units. You even need them to buy a bakery which makes you produce food faster therefore allowing you to have a larger army. Anyways what I’m saying is the game relies too much on rubies which are hard to get unless you buy them (which I have never done) but if you are looking for a game to play for a week or two, maybe even a month, then yes I recommend this one. But if you want a long term game then go look somewhere else, sorry.

I like the idea of the game but I think the gameplay and HUD is pretty far off right now. Everything’s crowded on the screen. Also let’s talk about the money part of the game. First of all it has IN YOUR FACE offers. Every time you open it there’s a couple new “limited time offers” that aren’t limited at all because they come right back every time you log in. But I’ll usually pay a little bit for a game since I like to support the game and receive a little upper hand when starting it out. So I bought a couple offers including the starter pack. Both of which included new troops. And unfortunately you can’t produce enough food to keep these troops for very long. What a dirty trick for this company to pull... so now to keep my new troops I either have to spend more money to level up faster in order to support the troops, or I have to just let them die and waste the money I just spent... and so I thought instead I’ll just build more farms and raise my food production. A few farms in and it says, sorry but the more farms you make, the slower the new farms produce. Are you serious? This game is full of constant money traps. And disrespectful offers that set you up to either spend more money or fail

I’ve played for years. It has been fun, its is fun. But The developer sucked the life out it. The cost of is ridiculous. Because of the high cost nobody wants to pvp. For me pvp is the best part, but the high cost to play/rebuild makes people join the big pay for play alliances which have rules that frown on pvp battles. These Alliances have one hit rules, which discourages rivalry. It’s too costly and predictable and makes trying to gain power without being a absorbed or affiliated with these alliances impossible. The game is great if you are looking to make good friends and chat. If you like doing events and missions this game have plenty. But pvp is dead unless you like hitting small castles and pointless hits. The only suggestion I can make to the developers is to focus on making PVP great again.

The game is a subtle pay-to-win. You don’t succeed unless you buy vast amounts of rubies, and then they only allow you to heal powerful units with rubies aside from the basic ones you recruit. Way too many pop-ups, and you can’t delete ruby ads in your inbox. The game is also idiotic on notifications: losing 5000 troops to starvation is not worthy of Notification Center, but you DO get notified when there are $250 worth of troops in your hospital to heal. And bc there is limited space in your hospital, if there are more wounded than hospital space available, the game prioritizes the ruby troops knowing you can’t pay while kicking out the troops you can heal with coins and time rather than your money in your pocket. Play at your risk: you’ll find all the clever little tricks that GG uses to borderline scam you.

This is a great game, I have expended hours and hours playing it. Because I change phone I stopped playing it for a while. Now for some reason it will no longer recognize my account even thought it was link to my Facebook account, when I try to restart the password it says site under maintenance please try again later, and that’s the message I always get. It is frustrating because it does recognize my email (I keep on getting email with events notification) but again, now every time I try to play it will start from the very beginning. not to mention that I only spend 2 years playing this game, on which I bought a few rubies to get my kingdom on the right path.

This game is PAY TO WIN. If you are looking to pay up to 1k per month to be good then this is the game for you. In the low levels of the game before you hit legendary level players are even because they consist of free-to-play players. All of the Pay-to-play players can easily hit level 70 within a month. This makes the game enjoyable for the low level players because they do not have to worry about the pay-to-play players in the game. As soon as you hit legendary level you can be a target of Pay-to-play players who can spend as much money as they want on anything you could possibly get in the game. This makes it so there is a huge disadvantage for free-to-play players because there are huge limits on what can be won in the game. Thus making it impossible to keep up with the Pay-to-win players. Take for example the new Master Blacksmith update. GoodGame studios is tell you that they are “balancing the game” when in reality the Pay-to-win players can just buy everything through the multiple in game purchases while the free-to-play players, who had a glimpse of hope to keep up with the Pay-to-win players, have no shot now because everything costs 10x MORE!

Beware downloading and installing this game. They claim FTP but have made so many changes to this game to make it budget-friendly. They have also recently decreased the amount of content you can get for free to either force you to buy or force you to quit. There is no more in between and playing events for free in order to be more selective on spending. THIS GAME IS NOT FTP FRIENDLY, so please do not expect it to be anything other than a place to waste time and money. Everything takes a long time to do. Goals are not accomplished easily. That is not a complaint, because I knew this going in as a returning player. What I did not expect was for GG to limit my FTP options so much that it is virtually impossible to play any portion of this game without spending $15-40, at minimum, for every event (occurs every 2-3 days) plus investing $50-$100 per international event (occurring every 5 days or so). Basically, if you want a reasonably priced way to spend your time, THIS IS NOT THE GAME FOR YOU. You need to be a millionaire or have a lot of excess money to play at a competitive level.

The developers have created small differences in its in game equipment that make it easy to mistakenly place very similar game equipment together that when not matched properly you don’t enjoy the bonus which the purchased equipment are intended to provide. The only way to undo the “mistake” is to spend rubies which cost real money. This small practice is DESIGNED to confuse the players and extract a little more money from you. It’s a choice to play the game and it’s a choice to spend money on this game. Given the deceptive design in a game which is understandably designed to make me spend money I find this to be a greedy over reach. There are plenty of features that induce the desire to purchase in game bonuses to improve your position and strength. But to design the game to confuse players to extract more money is over the top. I spend money in this game to be a good player but spending money when I’ve been tricked causes me to not recommend this game.
