    Gunstar Heroes

It’s the 1993 Genesis game, Gunstar Heroes just the way you remember it. Personally, this is one of my favorite Genesis games. The different character and weapon combinations make it so that no player will experience the game in the same way as another player. The game itself is a side scrolling run and gun. The stages are very fun to play through in all their 16-Bit glory and most have several bosses. The gameplay is smooth, the game is emulated very well and includes save slots and a rewind feature. The touchscreen controls worked fine for me, however If you prefer actual buttons, controllers are supported. I recommend this game, even to new players who weren’t born in the Genesis era. After all, it’s free and you’ve got nothing to lose.

    Gunstar Heroes

The 1993 Genesis hit game that is considered to be a Top 5 game on the console and now I can see why that is. Even though I owned a Genesis back in the day I totally missed out playing Gunstar Heroes due to it coming out so late on the system’s life and I had already moved on with the PlayStation console. But now having played this mobile version, and what a great one at that, makes it so that I want to break out my old Genesis system and find the cartridge version of Gunstar Heroes to purchase to play it “old school” or as they say “retro” gaming. Ah nostalgia.

    Love the game but!

I know this is way off topic but I just love treasure games, and I would really appreciate it if you brought Alien Solider to the store! I’ve always played gunstar superheroes on my gameboy advance and getting the chance to play the classic on my iPhone is just great! But it’s a bummer that alien soldier isn’t up here anywhere.. but hey, at least there is gunstar heroes!

    Came here to ask,

Great game but I came to ask, which controllers are compatible for the ‘Sega Forever’ collection? I know that for Sonic that 8-bit dos gamepad is fine, but I’m talking console controllers. Which ones are compatible? Also, can I use those controllers for three button ABC SEGA games? Please reply ASAP. Thanks!

    THIS GAME IS AMAZING

This game is one of the greatest games from when I was younger. I’ve been waiting so long for them to update it and here it is once again. It’s so great to see this game and many other classics on the App Store, definitely a game you need to try!

    Definitely on my top ten.

This game is fun and frantic and I love it. I see now why so many people adore this game and it is definitely one of my favorite genesis games.

    treasure

treasure has literally never made a game that isnt 5 stars. the only thing making this app 4 stars is the controls. touch controls are notoriously bad for platformers. run n gun makes it worse. other than that, its a treasure game and its free. no brainer.

    Awesome! Except..

This is amazing. My childhood on my screen!! Only thing is that I can’t save! When I click “sign in” it just loads and won’t allow me to sign in. I can’t lose my game so I keep having to restart.

Plays Worse Than an Emulator from 2001.

YIKES, Sega. First of all, Gunstar Heroes is one of my all-time favorite games. When I discovered that it was available for my brand new iPad Mini 5? I was ECSTATIC. I bought an 8BitDo controller for a retro experience, downloaded the game and prepared feel like a kid again. Only to have the game run like garbage. Constant stuttering, poor support for my controller, it really just bummed me out. I even paid the $2 to unlock it from ads and I still got ads for other Sega titles. These issues don’t seem to be limited to just this title, either. I downloaded pretty much every Sega Forever title and they all run poorly. I’m very sad. Very disappointed. Asking for a refund on my purchase from Apple.

    Multi player not working

A great game single player, just like the original. But multiplayer doesn't work. It says either "invalid room" or if you can get past that part, the screen is just stuck on displaying the black before title screen. Like "sega" doesn't even appear. The whole reason I bought this game was to play multi player with my brother. Very disappointing!

    Poor MFi Controller Support

I am using a SteelSeries Nimbus on an iPad Pro 2018 running iOS 12.2 and the controller support is poorly thought out. The B button is used to fire the weapon, but it also activates the “rewind” feature when you hold the “B” button down for more than 3 seconds. The fact that the “rewind” feature is actually set to “R2” in the control settings makes no difference and the “R2” button actually does nothing. As is, this game is unplayable on a controller. Also, you are unable to select the “Menu” button located in the middle of the controller for “pause” and are forced to use one of the other buttons on the controller. “Pause” is set to the “Y” button by default. I’ve noticed the same button issue in other games by Sega. The MFi controller support needs to be overhauled. If Sega can fix these issues this would make playing these games much more enjoyable and I’d likely purchase all of them since they bring back memories. But with the poor MFi controller support I can’t bring myself to actually buy these games for now.

    Gunstar Zero- play the original

Play the original. This game on a cell phone with onscreen controls is terrible (like all game that need you to have your thumbs cover 1/3rd of the screen). I was crushed by the giant broccoli! Even the previous cell release had better controls. As does the AT Games hand held Genesis (w/SD ability), or any other number of ways to play it. This game needs a real controller on a real screen. Period.

paid version ADs still block game

I paid for the non ad version and it still has ads for SEGA games that block my view when I play. I can’t see the enemies on the bottom of the screen. Truly a bummer because I really love Gunstar Heroes and wish I could play it again but I lost my GBA long ago and now this version is driving me crazy cuz I can’t see the enemies. Terrible AD placement.
