Great adaptation of the annoyingly generic bubble shooter category

It might seem like those generic pay to win match the color of the bubble game but it’s much different than that. The gameplay runs like this. The bloons destroyed the town (somehow, this still isn’t explained.) and your set to repair it better than ever using bloonstones and money. You get these by playing shooter “mini games” where you line up a shot that bounces around the walls to hit the targets, the multistacked, multicolored, bloons. You can use different monkeys with special ability’s to wipe them out, and it also features a merge system where if you have two of the same monkey in your first three slots, you can combine them into a “mega” monkey. Overall 5 out of 5 go play it, and of course it features some in game ads and purchases, but this is to support the devs and its not pay to win, just some helpful rewards. So try it yourself, and see if you like it. Essay over.

    Another great game from Ninjakiwi

I came from Btd6 not expecting much about this game in my mind I was thinking this is just going to be a worthless cash grab. But I am glad to be wrong I adore this game. You can really tell how much effort love and care NinjaKiwi put into this game. This is undoubtedly my favorite one of these puzzle poping games I’ve played and forever will be. But for as much as I love this game there are a few things that I would hope could be fixed in the future 1. Lag when fast forwarding 2. The content becomes repetitive after you unlock everything (maybe more monkeys and Bloons??) 3. Balancing (overall this game is pretty well balanced but there are some places where monkeys fall short and I would like to see bomb shooters to have a use other than ok at group Bloons. Other than that though I love this game and can’t wait for future content updates!

    Not Toooooo Grindy

When I first got this game it was simple and had a good concept and the gameplay was fun pass a day and it’s not too Grindy most “Pop the thing by throwing something at it” games get Grindy after like a hour but this one doesn’t get too Grindy where it’s pay to win or watch ads to get so or so but this game doesn’t have that stuff so it makes it more fun by no pay to win or watch like a thousand ads to get so and so or this and this but this game just keeps it simple also this is my first review so hope the developer responds and I’m just happy that one of my favorite developers made a game different then the other games the developers made. This is my review.

    Great free game

I’m having fun with the Bloons style popper game. They have lots of cool merge units that are upgraded versions of the classic monkeys and towers we know and feature lots of free to play mechanics that are actually attainable without paying. The main thing is you can use your monkey cash similarly to other Bloons games to buy powerup which help you complete levels. My only gripe is that these are the same time gated progression methods we have all seen before so that aspect of the formula isn’t new. I like that you can choose to watch an ad to amp your bonus round rewards at the end of levels or just not watch the ad for standard rewards, but I HATE that if I don’t watch an ad often enough I’ll choose the standard reward and they will play an ad with no bonus reward and I could have just chosen the extra rewards if I had known. Very frustrating. Otherwise the game is fun if your okay playing only once or twice a day due to the timers on rewards refreshing. 8/10 Would pop again

    Not the best from NinjaKiwi

This game seems very fun and engaging at first, until the progression becomes very slow and tedious, making you watch many ads just to have a chance at beating a level. The ramp up in difficulty is huge from the game becoming laughably easy at first and then suddenly only getting halfway through a level with the moves given to you. Once all the new characters are unlocked, the game just kind of stops becoming fun and getting the bloon gems take a long time to get. One way to fix this issue is to update the levels, they can be easy in the beginning, but certainly increase the number of turns you get in later levels to keep the game somewhat entertaining and rewarding. Secondly, the game doesn’t have much to it, I would try to find a way to create a sort of “deck” with the monkeys you have so you can make a well balanced deck that suits you. Also adding some sort of upgrades for the monkeys would help make the game more enjoyable to play because if you lose a level, you could upgrade a monkey that you need. Some monkeys are also way more overpowered than others, getting one dart monkey to kill 100 bloons doesn’t do too much. Great game and new take on the franchise but certainly not one of Ninja Kiwi’s best (at the moment).

    Good but…

This is a lot more well thought-out than I initially thought. I’d pay for a game like this. But the ad model gets frustrating. A few examples: Eventually, you will reach levels that you can’t beat unless you use power-ups or play ads. If you get far enough, you get a generous flow of power-ups, but not generous enough to use on every level. So you’ll need to play ads. That’s bad enough. There should really always be a way to buy an ad-free experience. Separately, as with many iOS apps, depending on hardware and the random history of what you’ve done on your device since last restart, any multitasking has the potential to crash your game. There shouldn’t be severe consequences for this in a casual mobile game, and that’s true of most other games by this publisher. But here, it means you will lose your streak bonuses, which are more or less necessary to maintain. Now put these two problems together. Some rotated ads will by default open the app store. There is no way back except to multitask back to the game. And then it’s crashed. Too frustrating to continue, even though I’ve paid for some upgrades.

    Good concept

The gameplay was fun, but it was a let down in a few areas. The later levels require insane luck with shots and heroes or you could watch ads to get power-ups. If you choose to retry to get good luck, you're going to drain your lives. Once you run out of lives, you're either forced to stop playing the game entirely or watch ads. Which means once you get to the later levels, you almost have to watch ads to progress. On top of that, you have "optional" extra rewards you can get if you watch an ad. But most of the time, even if you don't select that, an ad plays anyway. This game also crashes and freezes way more frequently than any other mobile game. Sometimes it will even crash/freeze while playing an ad. If it crashes during a level, you cannot continue where you left off and the life you spent is gone. It's a cool concept, but falls victim to every other terrible mobile game. The first few levels are fun, but definitely not worth playing after that.

I like this game but it’s just too luck based and it crashes frequently

I played Bloons Pop close to a week after release date and I really enjoyed it but as the levels get harder and harder, it seems that the game is very luck based and much more prone to crashing then when I first played. Even when connected to wifi, the game loads slowly and crashes frequently enough to make me consider deleting the game. Also, because of the assortment of different bloon types and monkeys, some levels are impossible to beat with the randomly generated monkeys. I’m not upset because I’m bad, I’m upset because a level is unplayable due to luck factors that shouldn’t be present in a high quality, skill-based game. I really wish these problems were fixed, like adding a monkey pool for certain levels where levels with lots of zebras didn’t have bomb shooter and ice monkeys. I think I’ll wait a few more updates to see if I’ll resume playing the game.

Great concept, decent execution, awful balance.

Let’s get one thing straight: this game is fun. For a little while. Then you quickly reach “unfair” territory, where you either have to watch an ad or you’ll lose. So many of the monkeys are underpowered, notably the Ninja and Bomb Shooter, and so many Bloon types, such as Camo Bloons, are irritating and poorly balanced. Most of the Bloon types in this game worked in BTD6 because you had access to so many more options. In this game, what do you have? Only 3 RANDOMLY SELECTED cards. Sure, you get to see two cards ahead in your deck, but what if you’re faced with countless Zebra Bloons and only have explosive-based monkeys and/or an Ice Monkey? It’s awful. Also, heroes. Great idea, and it works decently well. But Obyn needs a buff. Every other hero works pretty well, but Obyn’s too weak to really be of use in later levels. My recommended changes: Add a system that allows you to upgrade your monkeys. Reduce the time that Camo Bloons are camouflaged. Make the Ninja’s attack area bigger and give it one more attack per use. Make the Bomb Shooter destroy more layers on hit and make the explosion radius bigger. Add a way to switch monkeys from your “next monkeys” bit into your hand, maybe on e per turn. Overall, a decent start, but I expected better of NK at launch. Here’s hoping that rebalancing occurs soon.

    Not Worth Investing In

I got this game after a friend had shown me about it. I’ve played other BTD games and thought this one might be worth investing time and energy into. So I tried it, got to about level 40 and started noticing some things that have made the game nearly unplayable or at least not enjoyable. As previous reviews have mentioned, there is not strategy to the game. Monkeys are randomly selected and depending on the load out, it could really make or break a match which is a hassle when all the best power ups are via your hot streak which sadly, resets and makes the game harder to progress in. It’s still satisfying watching the balloons get popped and it’s still satisfying seeing all the different monkey abilities but all the satisfaction is torn away the moment an ad appears. Which is all. The. Time. I’ve had the game for about a week and in my personal experience, I’ve had an ad play after every single round. It really takes away from the game as some of these ads can be pretty lengthy. Unfortunately I’m going to have to knock this down to a 2/5 simply because of the excess amount of ads and no way around it (I can’t even do the little cheat by turning of all connections on my phone because it’ll try to load an ad but I’ll only be met with a blank, black screen).

No strategy, too greedy. Hopefully will be improved

Reached level 60 and got bored. There's no actual strategy, because monkeys are randomly selected. Prices are expensive for crappy power ups, and I hate those 7 day/30 day "subscriptions". Are you guys that desperate for money? Just give me a permanent purchase, please. While I didn't have to purchase anything to get to level 60, I had to watch a lot of ads. Sometimes you get lucky with a powerful hero, sometimes you get a dart monkey with his worthless 3 darts. Sniper is also pretty useless. Churchill is the only hero who can clear the entire board, but he appears randomly. Gwendolin is also decent. But she's like the rest of the heroes who pop a few and disappear. The higher the level, the shorter time they stay on the board, yet Churchill will float all the way to the bottom (only if you do it in a tight side-to-side motion to make him bounce off the sides). Regrow bloons are just mean because they increase your counter and expand up into your red zone as you pop them. You can't look at the encyclopedia during a match, so they expect you to memorize everything? Would be better if we could choose from all of the monkeys, rather than 3 random ones.

    Bloons sells out to ads

As a long time Bloons TD fan I was excited to try this. The game is fun enough and carries over some of the tower mechanics into this plinko style game. I always appreciated in Bloon TD games that you could buy it and it was a fulsome game with new content but no ads after that. The problem here is while there aren’t ads initially, and you can watch ads for bonuses (standard) at some point when you get up in the levels (I’ve played over 100) you start getting pushed ads at the end of rounds which just ruins the whole game (you normally have the option to watch an ad to double rewards, but at some point you get them regardless). Additionally the game has a mechanic where if you win multiple round you get “fire” rewards which allow you to start with additional items, in the later rounds you won’t stand a chance without there… but you can also watch ads during a round to get more turns so it becomes almost impossible to lose a round but you are also often watching ads for an extra shot because losing those bonuses would just screw you so it’s somewhat risk less. Besides those elements it’s a well made game and the mechanics are fun lol.

    Forced “Optional ads”

The game is fun, but there a quite a few flaws with it. -Forced “Optional Ads” The game has optional ads which is fine, you watch a 30 second ad for an extra life, or a power up, typical for a free to play game. But I am at round 60, and the “optional ads” are happening on their own. You are given two options after you beat a level, “Watch an ad for 1.5X rewards” and “Continue”. I always hit Continue, but now the game forces an ad, and on top of forcing the ad, it does not give the extra rewards. Its a smack in the face to the user, then spitting on them. *Lack of balancing* -It is a mobile game, meant to make money, so I understand having really difficult levels. The issue is you can never strategize to beat the difficult level, because your team is random. Imagine being stuck on a level with lead balloons, and you never get an explosive character, or only getting one after having to waste characters who cannot damage the balloons. -There are some other gripes i have about the way the levels play, such as the “extra shot” characters are pushed on the top of your character stack, preventing your stack from moving after a shot. This can prevent you from merging 2 characters. It basically punishes you for trying to strategize. In the end, I think there is a decent base for a game here, gameplay-wise, there are some things that should be rethought, and some additions would be nice, but the biggest issue with this game is the forced “Optional ads”

    Typical unbalanced nonsense

I got this game recently and not even a few days in I have already encountered huge walls to climb over. At the beginning of the game, you only have a few types of shots. This makes it feel like you are more in control of your actions. As soon as you unlock all of them by getting to level 25 or so, the random factor takes over the game tenfold. Some balloons have effects where the multiple when popped, some say that damage from specifics shots won’t do anything, and some say that the balloons will become invisible and shots will go through them. Now you get a level where you have three full rows of balloons with each of those types all in one. The game tells you to use ice and explosive damage for the multiplying balloons, but also that you can’t use ice or explosive damage on that balloon. So you are stuck hoping to get lucky with the random shots the game decides to give you. You also have to grind bloonstones to progress the story of the game, but to get then you have to ether encounter something new or play a huge amount of time just to wait a 4hr timer. That also only give you about 8 stones when you need around 50-60 just for the second part of the story. I’d recommend playing the game until you hit level 50 or so. It’ll just be an annoyance past that.
