Video Manual: How to Use the Silver Card Game App

How does it Work?

The Silver app lets you play 2-player games of Silver (the card game from Bezier Games, Inc.) against a computer AI. Learn the ins and outs of the game, and practice before taking on your friends!

Your goal in Silver is simple: have the lowest sum by the end of four rounds. To accomplish this, use abilities from the cards you draw, and from cards that are already face up in your village, which consists of five cards. You can trade in matching cards, and also trade out your cards for ones you draw to make matches or to lower your score. End a round early if you think you have the lowest sum by calling for a vote; if you’re right, you score 0 points, and get to use the Silver Amulet of Protection the next round. If you're wrong, though you get the sum of your cards plus ten points!

The app walks you through the game, and the comprehensive Help screen gives you all the details you need to be able to play. While you’re playing, view detailed card abilities just by tapping and holding on them.

    Fun game, quick to learn!

I enjoyed this much more after being able to learn on and play the real thing. There are a few things that I ran into as far as the game not responding to my actions or doing the opposite of what I intended. It would be nice to have a “just the score pad” feature so I can keep track on the game when playing with friends. Edit: After the most recent update the game runs much more smoothly - haven’t had any problems with it! Still looking for a score pad only game mode though! Great game either way!

So enjoyable! Must have on phone

I play this game a ton, but the app is just as addictive! It’s nice to get to practice and play with the cards, and try some new strategies out before beating my friends. The art and animation in the app is so great, and I totally dig the music (I typically wont play apps with sound on, but I like the Silver music a ton)

    Great game, lots of glitches

It lost a star because of the glitches. Of course it wouldn’t happen in real life, but I often get skipped because the game glitches, which can be very frustrating. The game itself is awesome and we can’t wait to get the actual hard copy.

    Interesting game with frustrating controls

The core game is solid (but not great) card game. There’s very little reason to try up to higher score cards (barring the 13 wild card) thus greatly reducing the risk-reward mechanic relative to dumb luck. However the controls are quite bad. Depending on how exactly you click on a card, it will either play the card, allow you to trade cards, or allow you to look at your hand. If you don’t do it quite right, it will do something other than what you intended. I find that seemingly half of the games this happens one or more times, making the game incredibly frustrating. Obviously that thankfully doesn’t occur in the physical card game.

    Fun But

The game is fun has an interesting way of playing and nice art. However it is extremely easy to make mistakes that cost you the game and I have also run into a glitch on the iPhone where the drawn card freezes and won’t let you do anything with it. It just sits on top of the deck until you restart the program. After restarting the program the green check mark lights up and you can move on with your game except hold on the card you drew goes back to the top of the deck and the opponent now gets to use it having two turns to your none. This needs to fixed to make it playable. Again fun game and nice art but very very frustrating to play.

Love the game, hate the bugs

The game is fun and addicting but I’ve come across more and more bugs as I’ve played. The biggest one is not allowing me to choose multiple cards to exchange with a drawn card. It has happened multiple time that it will only allow me to select one or two cards to exchange. Mostly it won’t let me choose face up and face down together when this happens. Or I’ve got exchange and it freezes. A lot of this is when I have rascals in play and am able to choose from multiple top cards

    Great Game, Horrible Glitches

Great game with an awesome twist on a classic card game (golf). But the glitches kill the experience. The game will freeze or glitch out and even closing the app and reopening it doesn’t work, you have to end your game and start over. There also isn’t a way to control the AI difficulty, so it’s very difficult to win games. If they could fix these things, I’d give it 5 stars.

Very Fun, Glitchy, & Needs Undo

The game is great. The tutorial could be a bit more clear but is decent, took me one game to understand using the card abilities (though I could paid better attention and avoided this). Main problem is the lack of an undo as it is easy to accidentally discard a great draw and the game will freeze up periodically. If these 2 issues are addressed I would give 5 stars.

    Too many bugs.

I love this card game but this app has way too many glitches and bugs. There’s many times where im unable to pick a card from the deck or the game doesn’t allow me to choose what i want (ex: discard the card, only allows exchange) and i have to close out the page and sometimes that doesn’t even work and it ruins the game because i have to start a new one. It takes away from the fun of it which is sad because I’ve been obsessed with this game and was so happy to find an app that i can play by myself. Will be deleting until i can happily play without these major issues.

    Big Glitch

I love this game, play it with friends all the time and the app helps me stay fresh. But, playing it a lot today, I noticed that 75-90% of the time the game locks up after I flip a 2 over in Silver Amulet. Especially when the AI is forcing a vote. I go to check a card, flip it back over, then I can’t do anything other than zoom in on each upward facing card to see what it’s rule is. The only way to fix this is to start a brand new game. Very frustrating. Definitely needs to get fixed.

    AI broken

Great if you own the actual game for getting some of the mechanics as the rule book isn’t written the best. That said has wonky glitches. That randomly show up not allowing your turn or action to work correctly. Lastly the AI is totally hacks. It will not let you win and had the lowest cards as much as possible. Played a set where it always had a zero card and one round had both 0 cards. Bottom line. Good for seeing how rules are implemented. Otherwise not worth the click and download effort.

    Horrible AI and game play

I bet this game is super fun in a traditional card game style. However, the app is the worst!! The directions on how to play are vague and confusing, even so I figured I would get the hang of it after playing a few rounds, but nope! The AI has all of these extra moves it can use against you, but essentially all you can do is draw or discard, so it is frustrating and boring play. Supposedly the cards have additional features if you tap on it, but all it does when I tap on it is discard it or it does nothing. You don't get to choose where a card goes when it is added to your hand so it gets confusing knowing which ones you have turned over already. Like other reviews said the touch feature is terrible because you try to do one action and it does the opposite ( like trying to exchange or pick up a card and it discards it). The icons are super small and I finally figured out that if you hold down long enough it tells you what the card is, but then it makes no difference because you can never actually use the feature of the card. If you want to be stressed out and angry with a game then download this one. I had hoped the developers fixed the issues from previous reviews, which is why I gave it a try, but nothing seems to have been improved in the 1+ yrs of reviews. Don’t bother!!

Fun game but it’s glitchy and cheats

Got the iOS game after have fun playing the board game. Figured it would help me build my skills as well as help pass some time. It plays just like the board game with just the AI. The glitches seem to only happen when you switch to other apps while a game is in progress and typically means you have to quite the game and lose your round. The biggest issue is the game cheats. I started noticing the odds of a 12 or 11 coming up right after I called the game didn’t seem statistically possible. Since then, I’ve witnessed cards changing. On multiple occasions I’ve had multiple 4 cards showing and could see then next 2-3 cards. Then, after calling the game, the next card becomes something different (like a 12) allowing the AI to use that card’s ability. It’s one thing to think you lost because the game cheated, it’s totally different when you know you lost because the game cheated. Update: Thanks for responding but I’m not 5. I can handle a bad game and be just fine. I have video from when I had multiple fours up and could see 3 cards into the deck and the 12 wasn’t there before it was the AI’s turn. It seems you don’t know your game very well. I’d suggest you play it for a bit and I’m sure you will see what I’m saying. It happens on both my iPhone and iPad.

    Too many bugs!

I’m glad it was free. I felt like I was clicking randomly on cards. And I could never make choices because if I clicked twice it seemed to move on. The rules were lousy, too. I honestly don’t know what I was doing in this game—and I play a lot of games. It was poor instructions and poor programming for the mechanics of the game. I’m sure if I had the physical game (and maybe the rulebook, I would be fine. But that’s not how digital versions should work. I highly suggest a tutorial for new players and not the reading that you provide now. I can tell you what it said, but in practice it didn’t work. It even locked up on me when I turned over a card. The app was unplayable.
