*The Basics*
In each game, you’ll be given a Sudoku puzzle to solve, and every turn, you’ll get three numbers that fit somewhere in the puzzle. Find the right place for those numbers to win points! You’ll get bonus points for every row, column or block you complete. Once you’ve placed your numbers, your opponent gets a chance to play. Earn more points than your friends to win the battle!
*Play With Your Friends*
Want to challenge your friends and family? Connect to Facebook to challenge your Facebook Friends! You’re free to play anonymously, but you can also connect to Facebook to play with friends! Just start a new game and choose “Battle a Friend” to invite your friends to play!
*Play With New People*
None of your friends play Sudoku Friends? No problem! Choose a Random Battle and we’ll find you a game with a stranger. You’ll be matched with someone of your skill level!
*How To Play*
Just like regular Sudoku, the object of the game is to place numbers in the grid so that the numbers 1 to 9 appear only once in each column, row, and 3x3 box.
However, in Sudoku Friends you’ll only get three random numbers each turn. Place them in the right location and you’ll get 10 points. For every column, row, or box you complete, you’ll win an extra 30 points.
At the end of the battle, the player with the most points wins the game!
Possible change
Having a player place as many numbers in the allotted time would be more competitive. The way the game plays now there is more time wasted by searching for which blocks need the numbers that the game provides the player.
fun but why remove things?
the game is so fun, and I enjoy it quite a lot; especially because I can play with friends. but why remove the daily challenges? I enjoyed them and it gave me something more to do when I was bored or waiting for my opponent to play back. the only thing I would’ve changed about the challenges is that you should give more lives or not have them at all and just tell you what you did wrong like a normal sudoku puzzle
RNG
After the first couple games I was very frustrated because I felt I kept losing to RNG. You only get 3 random numbers that can be placed. Along with that the mechanics work in such a way that you get points for completing a column, row, or box. With that being said, to a degree this game is up to RNG because sometimes someone will get the number to complete a box but you did not. To a degree you can influence the RNG but purposely placing the wrong number in specific situations. Otherwise the game is pretty fun.
Fun game, but the ads are too much
This is a straightforward sudoku challenge. Fun, basic, engaging. The issue for me is that between every single round you have to deal with ads. It would be great if you’d let us pay $2.99 or whatever and remove them. Also, a chat feature would be cool as the premises is to play with friends. Other than the ads, I’m really enjoying the game.
It’s mostly bots
I really like this game. It helps you get better at Sudoku. However, you have to keep in mind that the majority of the people you play are not real people. They are mostly bots. And they play to your skill level. You can test this by starting a new game with someone you already played. No matter the day or time, if you start a new game with them, they will start playing. I tested this theory over and over and players were always ready to play. I even tested this with games that I ignored for several days. In the end, it is a great attempt of a multiplayer Sudoku game. Hopefully, when the game gets enough players, it will stop using bots. ( another way to tell that you are playing against a bot is to try to give a compliment during a game. I guarantee that you will not get a response no matter how many times you comment)
Ads are too long!
I really enjoy playing sudoku friends! Only complaint i have is the ads. There is at least a 30 second ad in between every turn and to me it takes the fun out of playing against an opponent having to wait so long. Same ads over and over again. There should be an ad free option! I would gladly pay forthe option if it meant nomoreads. Im sure im not the only one that this annoys. Something you should consider changing and making option available.
Could be fun
Can you please make a version that is available without the ads? Also, it’s annoying to build up a box or line and then see the tile you need to complete it go to your opponent. I guess that makes the game more competitive but it is so random and makes me not want to make the right move sometimes anticipating that my opponent will most probably get the right number to close the box or finish the line next and get all my points!
Potential for awesomeness but not yet
This game could be amazing. The idea of battling someone is great. However, being assigned the tiles in 3s limits your strategy. You can build up a block only to have the tile you need never assigned to you and randomly assigned to you opponent. What would be awesome is the 3 tile rule with access to all the tiles and a one sitting rule rather than games that go on for games. If you need inspiration for a one sitting timer game, check our Rummikub. Every play you have to sit through an add and you sit frustrated while you’re never assigned the tiles you want. Just give everyone 1-9 and only allow 3 moves per round. Things would really get interesting and players have more control over their strategy
Sudoku Friends!
Not really a true test of Sudoku ability. By limiting the numbers you can select from, the game places an unfair burden on either opponent. We should also see what numbers our opponent has to choose from while waiting for them to take their turn. I get no satisfaction from playing on this app, even though I’ve won every match I’ve played. Also, someone I started playing with went “offline.” Does that mean they ended the app or that they are off the internet? How long do I have to wait for that aborted game to be removed from my game history? No, this game is definitely not for true Sudoku fans
Sudoku online?
More like sudoku with bots... I also don’t know how the numbers are generated but they seem like they try and help one person win over the other person. Good concept of game but there should also be a game mode where both players have the same board and see who finishes first or something cause having only three numbers and then watching ads right after your move is very very annoying. I know it’s for the company to make money but there are wayyyy to many. I wish there was a better way to battle against friends.
Blitz Mode
When playing in blitz mode I consistently get numbers to place on the board that do no fit in any grid. This typically happens on the last move causing me to lose the game. This is very frustrating. I can be 40 points ahead and have the last move to place the final 2-3 numbers only to be assigned digits that are already completely filled in. This never happens when I’m playing my contacts. Only in blitz. I don’t mind losing to an opponent that has offered a fair and challenging game. But I don’t like being cheated!
Can’t play with friends/family
I downloaded the app on my kids’ phones hoping they can play with me. But there is no way to start a game with them. They’re playing as guests because they don’t have Facebook accounts. I’ve tried every single option and menu in this game and tried to do some research online, but there is no help. The invite via text message just opens the app, it doesn’t set you up with that opponent, which is useless. The only thing I can think of is maybe I need to level up to be able to? Or maybe Facebook is required to play with friends/family? If so, that’s a scam. I’m really disappointed.
Removes logic from logic based game
The number one rule of sudoku is you should never have to guess. There is always a logical reason for a number to be placed in a cell. By limiting number options to 3 random numbers, you require logic to be discarded in the initial rounds. This isn’t sudoku at all. Also, whoever gets the last turn, cleans house. You could be winning round after round and if the loser gets the last turn they gets all the points for placement and completing each section. This is silly. No skill or strategy involved. This game could be SO much better if they improved the way it’s competitive. - either just stick with regular rules of sudoku and make it a partnered effort to complete a puzzle. Completing puzzles moves teammates along a game board towards collectible medals or trophies for each tournament. - or give both players the same puzzle and time how long it takes to complete the puzzle correctly. Fastest wins.
Too many ads!
I loved it at first, then looked for a purchase option to get rid of the ads...there are none. The ads got old quickly. 2 ads after every turn! Then they updated the ap so now there are 2 ads after most turns and there is always an ad at the top of the screen while playing which makes the board smaller. There have been several times I had to close and reopen the app because it wouldn’t reconnect to the server. Fun game, but the ads got the best of me and there’s no option to pay to get rid of them. :(
