Rare experience
More art than game, immersive, and just great. I don’t know how to describe it other than a mysterious collage of everyday things blended into a puzzle game / story. It’s hard to understand at first but you get what you have to do clearly by the end. It’s pretty easy to do which is nice, this game’s focus isn’t on difficulty. Oh and the constantly changing music brings the whole thing to life and changes the atmosphere of each section. Reminds me a little of Vignettes in that way. I may be misinterpreting it but it seems like the story is about creativity and possibly imagination. And actually that’s kinda what the entire game is about. I can’t really describe the charm and intrigue to this game with words, so play it for yourself!
Unlike Anything Else
I absolutely adored this game. I have never played anything like it before! Beautiful design, inventive puzzles, excellent soundtrack.... This game has everything you need to get lost in another world that is magical and moving. No instructions are given but you really don’t need any. Just pay attention. But don’t get too wrapped up in memorizing every detail, you only need to notice one thing at a time. And if you miss something, there are helpful clues you can come back to at any time. I recommend playing this game when you’re not terribly busy so that you can fully experience the process but if you want to play it in small bits and pieces, that’s okay too.
Really lovely
This one is really special. If you like games like Device 6, Vignettes, Black Box, Lumino City, you might enjoy this. It isn’t challenging, and the narrative is rather abstract, but experience of it is quite poetic and the mixed media creates a sense of discovery and surprise. I loved it. I am also just in awe of how much work went into this: designing the paths, the polish to get digitized handcrafted objects to read well (especially when interactive), the voice acting, and so on. There were a few rough corners (at one point I had trouble doing something and started to doubt it was what I was supposed to do) but hardly detracted from my overall enjoyment of it. Thanks to the creators for making this :)
Incredible
*Obligatory "don't usually leave reviews" statement* This game is just quite simply amazing, and deserved Apple's award easily. It's beautiful, it's dark, it's engaging, it's impossibly creative... I love everything about it and am so happy I had the opportunity to play it. I really can't say much more than that other than you should give it a try if this genre of game is appealing to you. In some ways it reminds me of monument valley (not in the way puzzles are solved but how secrets are unveiled and how you feel more and more a part of the world the longet you play). Great game!!!!!
Deep
This app... wow. I feel like to say it’s an app is an understatement. This takes it far beyond that, it’s a story, it’s a feeling, it’s raw thought. I loved how it progressed, and unlike most games similar to this it wasn’t impossible for me to figure out without a walkthrough. The paths were clear and it did take some trial and error but it was easier than other Indie games I’ve encountered. Which for me, is a good thing as I’m not big brain. I feel like this app deserves all the love. It’s worth it, I know I will play again and again and recommend to friends.
Game with true art.
I don’t normally write reviews but this game gives a lot of sense of art. The game gives various types of sensations along with different types of genres of music. It’s very simple to play and scenarios come along with unexpected beauty. Sometimes, it became weird and sometimes beautiful. This game give me an acknowledgement that life is also full of different scenarios. Thanks for the awesome game and art. Also as I’m the music composer, I really appreciate the music that he/she concentrate on which genre would be suitable with respective scenarios.
Engaging, beautiful, creative
I was camping where I didn’t get cell service and it rained all day. Fortunately I had downloaded ‘Song of Bloom’ the week before after seeing on Apple’s “best of” list. I opened it up for the first time and my partner and I worked through the entire thing together in our tent, passing the phone back and forth as we figured out each puzzle. The time flew by and we felt connected and engaged - we loved it!! I highly recommend this game and look forward to discovering others like it!
What a find!
I don’t know how I came across this, but (after finishing) I immediately went out and searched this developers other apps. This one’s the best, I think, but have really enjoyed several of his others. Great look, cool music, interesting voices, etc. I love puzzles though and this was the most puzzling. Do-able, but took a while. Wasn’t sure how I actually solved the last one (I did the same thing as I thought I had done several times already), but perseverance finally paid off. More please!
Really Cool!
When I first got the game, my expectations were really low because I spent some money on instant gratification. As soon as you solve the first puzzle and get a grasp of what is going on you get so immersed in the concept. It’s such a unique puzzle game what really get you thinking. I love how interactive it is, as soon as I used my volume button and the charging cable to solve puzzles I was absolutely amazed. Honestly, round of applause for the developer, I’d say it’s pretty worth the money for the experience.
Mesmerizing puzzle design
Incredibly smart and interesting puzzle design makes for a one of a kind experience! I’ve honestly never been more wowed by a mobile game’s use of its hardware. Everything is interactive and you’ll be amazed at how many different ways they’ll utilize the iPhone to create the puzzles and flesh out the different levels. I’ve played countless mobile games and this one will stick with me for sure!
More games should be like this
This is an entire experience. Beautiful visuals, a veiled narrative, and soft voice acting and music eventually reveal a complete, compelling storyline. The game experience is new and interesting and you need to be curious and experimental to figure it out. So much work went into this- there’s video, claymation, even stop-motion animation using knitting, and it’s all interactive. I loved it so much and hope this developer makes more!
Beautiful
Probably one of the best if not the best game that I have played. The storyline is so relatable and mesmerizing but also challenges the player to really think about how to solve the mind boggling puzzles in a way that no other game does. I find myself wishing that it could have lasted forever because I could not stop playing. Please download this masterpiece of a game and see for yourself.
Fun, but very tricky!
I’ve played other games by this developer, like Bacon and Okay. Both were fun in concept, but Okay got hard way too quickly, and Bacon is riddled with ads! Song of Bloom is very different! I read that it took a year and a half, and it shows! It’s very creative, but you may need a walkthrough, because it’s very confusing, even a little convoluted! But I played through the game twice now, and I absolutely love it! Just a couple of things that keep it from a 5 star game: 1) There’s a bug at the end (the final puzzle) where you put flowers on the tree. The game didn’t register that I’d finished the level, so it technically didn’t end the game lol! Please fix this bug! 2) The origami level with the red roof was very frustrating and took me way too long to finally do! Also, the puzzle where you “bloom” the flowers was very confusing and ultimately very aggravating! This game is not very forgiving at all! If there are more glitches, I’ll update this review, but other than what I’ve mentioned, the game runs pretty smoothly! The art and music are both incredible, and I definitely recommend you play Song of Bloom at least once - you’ll love it! Just know that it’s very short, maybe 45 minutes to an hour. Advice (maybe a mild spoiler): Make sure you’re near your phone or iPad charger before you play, you’ll need it!
I don’t need this frustration in my life
A game whose point seems to be figuring out how to play the game? It’s like learning how to program the VCR without an instruction manual, and being taunted by the VCR when you fail. Or going to the DMV, but they won’t tell you which form you’re missing, just silently smile mysteriously and gesture in the air. Or a dream where you are using a computer in another language and you just want to save the report you’ve been writing, but somebody has swapped all the icons for little pictures of fish and every key on the keyboard just plays a laugh and rearranges the menus. Actually that last one sounds like more fun. Beautiful art though.
