One of the best turn based strategy games for IOS

I never write reviews, but feel compelled to write one for this app because there is such a disconnect between the rating and my experience of the game. I have pretty much every “top 10” strategy title from the last 5 years on my iPad. This game is one of the best. I think the reason that it has a number of negative reviews is that the developers have deliberately chosen not to explain the game play mechanics much in the tutorial, to reinforce the story. Once I figured out some of those mechanics, such as the ability to summon illusions, the ability to burn unwanted cards, and the ability to bring mercenaries into a game which carried over to the next game if they didn’t die, the game got much easier to win. Not easy, but I didn’t lose every time. Things I like about this game: - Great and varied gameplay, with character building, tactical battle management, and a campaign mode - Great balance in strategy of offense and defense - Not pay to play, can play offline - Capable A.I. For anyone who wants a meaty strategy game that doesn’t have all the hinky pay mechanisms of most App Store games, I highly recommend this.

    Just what I wanted

It’s been tough scratching this itch I’ve had for a very vague idea of a strategy game I didn’t know how to look for. TouchArcade sent me this way because people seemed to like it in the forums, and so do I. I play Magic the Gathering as my primary hobby, so I was initially wary when I learned this involved cards, because I can scarcely afford doing Magic justice and won’t get involved in another full on collectible card game of that sense, but this is different- it’s totally self contained and doesn’t feel intimidating. The premise and delivery are awesome. We need more like this on mobile. Don’t give up on this, devs. I want you to do well so that awesome premium games that respect the players become a new fad.

    Fun tactical wizard battling game

Alright guys- here we’ve got a fun, clever, balanced tactical wizard dueling game with a lot of potential and every play mode you could be looking for. There’s a single player campaign, pass and play, and robust live multiplayer and asynchronous multiplayer play modes. There is a global sense of progression as you acquire gear and develop different builds and strategies. There’s no pay to win, every one has a good shot at winning any given matchup. There are a variety of ways to win any given encounter. Can we stop with the whining about “But it’s not X-Com! 1 Star” If I had one critique it would be that there aren’t enough people populating the multiplayer servers

    Excellent Strategy.

This is both a card and strategy game, earlier reviewer. I’m working my way through the tutorials and the amount of depth and strategy is awesome so far. It reminds me of FF Tactics, but better in my opinion. The only thing I’d change so far is minor...the screen’s a bit dark; maybe an option to make it a bit brighter? It’s in no way a problem, though. Anyway, it’s pricey but worth it in my opinion. Edit: Actually, it was just a stage or two that were intentionally dark; no problems at all in that category. People, support this amazing strategy game; it’s one of the best in all the App Store!

Fantastic strat. game with depth. Don’t understand the low ratings

Maybe it’s just not for everyone. But I have a suspicion that some folks just are not “getting it’ perhaps because they are used to the crappy P2W or “addictive” gameplay that is built literally on slot machine psychology. that’s the only way I can understand people giving this a mediocre score. maybe it was just a bit too pricey? i don;t get it, the game is among the more novel, interesting and satisfying tactics game that I’ve played.

    Excellent

I am a huge fan of xcom and even the ultima series. Chaos Reborn Is definitely one of the best turn based strategy games I have played in a long time. Much more than a ‘card’ game. The cards only serve to indicate the scarcity of certain spells. Essentially setting a limit on he number of times a player can create an offensive unit or cast a spell. Well implemented and adds a great deal to the challenge! I look forward to really getting into this game!

    It’s great, but...

Sometimes when I place a unit down the icon of the the title still stays there. And can we use the same character that we use in the single player mode for multiplayer, because that would be cool and can we please make the single player forge a thing? (I also am having a hard time fighting undeads as they are in my eyes is too powerful)

    Great start

So I’ve been dying to play this since I saw it like a month ago for pre order, and I got to say, it lives up to xcom, (especially the difficulty) which is a massive congrats :) It is a little hard to understand the gameplay at first but it is very fun and I enjoyed my first battle with it. Hope to see good things in the future.

Great game but time limit takes me out

I made it to smoke and mirrors, but this node doesn’t appear to have enough time to complete. I just get booted out even when making great progress and not getting hit by any traps. Is this a bug or intended and I’m missing someway to gain more time? Otherwise very fun, hard, and creative game.

    Solid Turn-Based Strategy Game

A sci-fi hardcore take on the turn-based strategy genre. There’s immediate complexity that means a high learning curve and satisfying tactics. The graphics are dark and brooding, appropriately setting the stage for the type of game you’re playing. This isn’t clash of (fill in the blank). This is a true strategy game. The unit selection and targeting could use some refinement, but the core game more than makes up for any UI concerns. If you’re a serious strategy gamer, you’ll get your money’s worth. The price is well worth the gameplay that’s there. People don’t balk at spending $10 for a starter pack for CCGs. This gives more value for your money than comparable games.

    Good gameplay

Solid game and gameplay, wish the developers put more into the single player campaign

Graphics too small on iPhone - hard on the eyes

I loved the original Chaos and am excited by this new version. I'm sure it looks great on the iPad but on my iPhone 7, the figures and graphic details are too small, even when I zoomed in to the max. The maximum zoom isn't very much. Please change this! The current graphics on iPhone are hard on the eyes and make playing difficult... I gave up during the tutorial

    Kinda Meh

If I’m paying $10 for a game, I should pick it up and not want to put it down. Not the case with this game. I’d say it’s a good $2 game. The graphics are mediocre and the storyline gameplay is repetitive. Most frustrating for me was that after choosing the class I wanted to play, I changed my mind, and can’t change to something else now. At least, I can’t figure out a way to change it. Also, undead seem to rule the game. Undead can only be damaged by other undead and a select few other summons which is really frustrating when you don’t have undead in your “deck”. The only way to modify your deck is by acquiring new staves (which give you different deck types) or talismans (which can add creature types to your existing deck). The problem with the storyline is that if you don’t find a settlement selling specific staves with better decks and you enter into battles that you need the better decks for, its nearly impossible to win. Oh, and this game is nothing like XCOM. If that’s what your looking for, don’t bother.

    Not bad, but not good.

I think when the Dev’s mentioned X-COM in the description they set expectations way too high. Also the price point for a mobile game also sets expectations very high. This is an interesting strategy game but it lacks polish and anything that really captures the player. I played it for a few hours but the entire time I never really enjoyed myself. Those looking for an X-COM-Esque experience should get Darkest Dungeon or Warhammer Quest. This game doesn’t scratch the X-COM itch and leaves you wishing there was more to it than there is. I’m sure the devs tried very hard but as a strategy game fan I can’t recommend this for $10 when there are such better options in the App Store. Also this should not be allowed to be an iPhone game. GUI is so small and is clearly meant for the iPad. Allowing it on the iPhone is a clear cash grab and not in the interest of the player.
