Good, with potential after some tweaks

The game is very solid, and after getting used to the single stick control scheme, it is fun to play. I still prefer a dual stick control scheme (maybe a future option). A couple things need to be improved to make it perfect, such as the nearly useless shotgun (the range is too short sure to the nature of the controls). The targeting system needs a bit of updating as well, specifically to have a higher priority on enemies, when I have 3 enemies shooting at me, I don't want to target a box or scenery. I like that there is continual progression, but it would be nice to be able to choose to stay back at 1-1, especially when trying a newly unlocked character. For example, trying to use Pine with 1 star on level 4-1 is nearly impossible... Lastly, the perks need descriptors in the store, not just between levels. With all this said, the game is excellent, and these are just recommendations to make it perfect!

Really fun, but needs a few adjustments.

I really enjoy this game, I saw it in the app store for pre order, and I knew I was going to have fun when I played this. This game is as fun as I thought it was going to be, but I definitely think this game could use a few changes. For one, I think that you should be able to choose what level you get to start at. I didn’t purchase a new character, so as I progressed to each world, it got extremely hard for me, and I would find myself trying cheap strategies like hiding behind walls or dodging for what seemed to be forever in order to stay alive. When I finally died, I expected to start back at world 1-1. When I didn’t, I had no good weapon, and no power ups which helped me get to the world I was at, so I was constantly dropped into a level where I was underpowered. I also think some items in the shop need to have their descriptions like they do when you traverse between worlds. I sometimes don’t remember what a power up is, so I buy it thinking it would help me, but I never end up using it because I don’t like to use the revolver. (Also there’s a spelling mistake in the descriptions of one of the power ups, I don’t remember which one, but it says “Arnored” instead of “Armored”). This game is still very fun, and I will continue to play it. I hope to one day see these changes in the game, as I think it would make the game more enjoyable.

One of my Top 3 Favorites right now!

This is a great game! Love it! Top 3 favorite games right now! This game reminds me of Mario but better! It’s a game everyone can play as its challenging and has no violence, other than the weapons, but I have an idea, Can you add a ad removal for like 1.50$? I keep encountering ads a lot and I love this game so I wouldn’t mind paying to have more fun! And maybe add extra worlds and some online one too if you can? Like customizing the world, putting obstacles, enemies, traps, and bosses! Also there’s a problem where I keep trying to watch an ad for coins but it says “no ad available”, please fix this! Thx! Keep updating this game please it’s Awesome!

    GREAT but…

i honestly think this game is really sick. i kind of like the idea of the continuous gameplay through the levels until you die because it adds some challenge to completing a world. i do wish that you guys give us an option to get rid of a powerup we no longer want or need while playing, especially since you can only have a certain amount. Another thing that really bothers me is how hard it is to aim at specific targets(this also makes it really hard to shoot the red explosive tanks) since the character shoots at whoever it thinks is best to. Maybe you can add a fixed joystick too? it gets pretty annoying walking around and constantly having to re arrange where i have my finger on the screen. Lastly I believe that you guys should take another look at the damage the enemies deal. its pretty crazy getting hit by ONE bullet and taking -34 damage from it. it almost makes it impossible to get around the levels if it weren't for watching ads to revive yourself. I hope you guys take these suggestions into consideration as I do think this game is great but it needs some fine tuning.

    Good game

This game is a very fun and addictive game (really drains the battery though) however I would like to be able to have control of where I aim or shoot. It’s a bit annoying when I’m just roaming around trying to get to the next room with mobs and I’m just spraining aimlessly into the walls. I would also like to see some more guns other than just the laser, blaster, revolver, and shotgun. As well as being able to aim and shoot when I want I would think it be kinda cool if you also had ammo and had to pick up different kinds of ammo for the different guns. I think that you should also be able to have two guns. I would like to be able to drop abilities for new ones or level abilities up. Finally I think the game need some more abilities that should include something like killing mobs has the ability to restore hp, or something like killing mobs give the chance to drop guns (rare occasion) or ammo (if added). With that being said it’s still a fun past time and I enjoy the game just wish I didn’t drain my battery so quickly (15-30 minutes eats up majority of my battery life)

Slow Improvement, and Devs that Listen

Slam Update (4.5/5 Stars): I like the new character a lot. The idea of slamming into enemies is clever, and changes the pace of the game for the early levels. My problems with the control system still exist, but I’ve gotten better at using them. Joystick Update (4/5 Stars): The controls are the same, but now there is a joystick. You still have to run at enemies faces, or slowly walk toward them to shoot the correct one. None of the control problems I had with the game originally were fixed, but at least you have a stick to see how fast you will move now. I’m still not a fan of the single stick control scheme. Release Review (4/5 Stars): I’m a big fan of PC rougelikes, so I figured I would try this one out for IOS. It looked a lot like Nuclear Throne. Heck some of the larvae look like they were inspired by Nuclear throne. My biggest problem with the game is the controls. Within the first few minutes I could tell it was going to be a problem. Sure, you can play the game with one hand, but you lose any ability to aim your shots. So it becomes a game of run towards enemies to target them, but then back up so they don’t hit you. At that point is a game of being able to watch your surroundings, so when you target the wrong thing something else does not kill you. Overall, I think it is a cool rougelike for IOS that everyone should try. However, I can’t stand the controls, but it is the best we have for now other than games like Downwell.

Great Game needs some work tho

This game is so dope def worth it! I love it to death, but it's really difficult Ive been stuck at Level 7 for so long because I'm either getting destroyed by first set of guys because the blaster is terrible! I think you should after each section give a full health because I do sometimes make it to the final boss but I end up having like 20 hp and not to mention he does and all the characters take like 100 health a piece and im using the frog guy!! Also more drops or potential gun drops in middle of rounds would be awesome Also I think that either the coins should be worth more or reduce the pricing of the stuff in the store, I have to go through like 3-4 levels just to afford one health pack that only gives like 40 health So please take this into consideration because I don't usually right reviews but I want this game to be more fun because it can get boring if you can't beat a level after awhile

    Simple yet fun.

Simple yet fun. But I wish there are some changes. I wish your character will shoot automatically, even standing still and walking back, not just while you’re walking toward the enemy. Right now if I want to shoot while keeping a distance, I basically have to keep tracing little circles with my thumb, which can get uncomfortable quickly. Maybe this is part of the intended built-in, artificial, difficulty of the game? I personally would like a twin-stick option for control. Difficulty ramps up fairly quickly. Enemies can cause quit a bit of damage, which out strips the rate you can level up because of the amount of the coin you can earn doesn’t seem to scale up enough. Maybe this is by design as well to make the game more grindy and encourage buying coins. Right now, you’ll have to clear a room with a basic blaster before you get a chance at getting a real weapon. Not a big deal early on, but a bit harder now when I start at level 4. If you really want to make it Rogue-like, it should start back at level 1. At least that way, you can clear previous levels again and earn some coins. I understand that the game just came out. But in the future, I would like to see more weapon types and more levels to the weapons. Doesn’t have to be as varied as Soul Knight, but more would be great. All in all, a good start.

    Doesn't hold up.

First off, Trigger Heroes isn't necessarily a bad game, it's just that another game; Soul Knight does almost everything Trigger Heroes does but better. Soul Knight has significantly more guns, levels ,enemies characters with more unique abilities that are also customizable, better controls, no forced ads, and more in the way of permanent unlocks and progression. Not only that, it even has 4 player co-op over wifi! The only real advantage Trigger Heroes is that every character can be unlocked for free (albeit with some heavy grinding) as opposed to some of Soul Knight's characters which are locked behind a 1-3 dollar paywall. Again, Trigger Heroes isn't necessarily as bad game. The gameplay's alright, and the art style is pleasant to the eye. It's just that Soul Knight has so much more for the same price. It also doesn't help that one handed controls are forced with no option for dual sticks. Overall, the game's decent. It just can't stand up to it's competitors.

Good game but there issues and some recommendations

Balancing is a big problem. I was able to get a higher tier character in the first 5 minutes completely skipping another in the process. That might not seem bad until you realize that to get the top character you barely have to play! Just open the app everyday and watch some ads. While it might be hard I’d like to see characters unlocked through in game means and not bought with coins. Controls are another issue the one style is nice but it feels weird and the time it takes to stop shooting seems wasted when I could just buy health or rely on perks to heal rather then dodge. I’d like to see a joystick control for shooting so I feel like I’m in control of where I can aim and not fight the game. Other then there are just some minor tweaks like a spelling error on a perk and the font after getting all of the perks for your run doesn’t fit the games aesthetic

It’s Gets Better The Longer You Play But....

First I did pre-order this game I think when it first came in the App Store cause the style looked really cool. So no lie the first couple of games I thought the controls and everything were bad and I was a little disappointed 🤷🏾‍♂️ but after those games I got some coins upgraded my character and was doing a little more damage than before. Started learning the enemies shots etc and the game ended up really fun. I got through the first level on my 4th try 😁😁 it does have a kinda old school game style feel to it but I like it 😌👌🏾 will definitely update my review as I get through the game. But I will say the fact I’m pretty sure I paid and I still get all these ads 🤔🤔 I would forsure say add an in game pad cause my finger slip across my screen so it’s hard to play but keep adjusting. It makes aiming all weird especially the way the guns shoot.

    Ok...

This game is not inherently bad. It’s a great game with very generous ads early on to help you progress faster. I’m only on world 5, which if you’d play, is a stretch. The issue with this game, and it’s a big freakin issue, is the GAH AWFUL controls. Why the actual hell was this not made a twin stick shooter? The single button controls are worse than aids. Why the hell are you going to shoot the enemy behind you, across the screen, when you have 4 melee enemies seconds from killing you RIGHT in front of you!? Even if you BARELY hold back to try to back peddle at a snails pace, you shoot somewhere else, sometimes where you shoot isn’t even dependent on where you’re aiming or walking. The controls are absolute trash, not even worth being called a game. Other games have done the single control perfectly, and all it does is aim towards the enemy closest to you, but you guys couldn’t even manage to do that. Figure out how to make a single finger shooter, or make this game a twin stick, because you know how to do nothing else. How the actual hell did this make it through testing. An embarrassment for a game I was so excited for. I hope you’re ashamed

    Please listen devs

First of all, enemy shotguns are way too op. Your screen perspective is so small that by the time you can see them they can one shot you or almost one shot you. Either make the camera size bigger or nerf range and damage of shotguns. Second, the first boss is nearly impossible to kill within the time you get to upgrade your weapons and it does so much damage it can 2 shot you with any of its insane amount of bullets assuming you are at full health. Iv played the game for a few hours and i have only gotten to the second world. The things that pop out of the ground are cool but once again shotgun is way too op. The players shotgun does not even a 1/10 of how much an enemy shotgun does. The game certainly needs to nerf and buff some things. I also think there should be a joystick in a corner or something because i find my thumb usually covers up enemys and that’s really annoying when i take pointless damage. There should also be a roll button. If you take into consideration all these things, i think players would enjoy this game so much better.

    Another game ruined by greed

Gameplay is pretty smooth and fun. The modifiers are mostly bland, generic and not impactful, you’ll just end up with a wall of buffs and all that really matters is that you have a lot of them, not what they are. Game plays in a way that you only progress by needing more and more ridiculous amounts of gold to progress to get characters with insane stats compared to the previous “tier”. Your options become as follows. 1. Play the game as an ad simulator. This will make you progress approximately 10 times faster than someone who is not ad farming. You will live longer, be stronger, get tons more gold if you are farming ads correctly. 2. Ignore ads and just play, you don’t have to watch them of course, but it feels bad to progress 10 times slower than someone who is, and it feels bad to farm ads as opposed to actually playing a game. Option 3, hand out tons of cash, obviously the fastest way to make progress. It just feels like this game focuses on monitization first, everything else second. The weapon system, is super lacking, with weapons ranging from a few basic types, that can upgrade from 0 to 3 stars. The core gameplay is seriously decent, the style is decent, but I would never recommend this game to anyone.
