Video Manual: How to Use the Evilibrium: Soul Hunters RPG App

How does it Work?

Inspired by the art style and atmosphere of the Darkest Dungeon and the books of H. P. Lovecraft comes the first adventure in the Evilibrium Universe. The game invites you to an alternate reality at the end of the 19th century, full of adventure, mystics, horrific creatures, dark rituals, and secret cults. In this world, souls are real and sufficient material to be extracted and used as a source of energy. Souls are therefore a hard-to-get and expensive merchandise that many desire.

Strange hostile creatures from parallel worlds lurk in murky forests and deep dungeons. You play a member of the Brotherhood of Hunters, adventurous people who hunt these monsters and catch their souls. You will explore the dungeons of a large world, capture hundreds of souls and use them to create, upgrade, and evolve an army of your own, fight quick, furious battles, discover the mysteries of the Universe and try to stay alive.

Evilibrium: Soul Hunters is a unique mix of a rogue-like dungeon crawler and a storytelling quest. The twisting plot is told through numerous quests where your actions matter.

    Great game!!!

If you are a fan of the Darkest Dungeon you will love this game from the start. This game has a very similar art & fighting style, though simplified in comparison, make it very easy to pick up on. It’s early access so game play is a little limited with only the first chapter available to those willing to support the developers. It’s 2.99 for the full access but it’s got all the potential of being just as good if not better than Darkest Dungeon which is $20. I love the game; developers keep doing you. I enjoy the Frankenstein spin your going with a true horror story fan will appreciate the throw back but no spoilers for anyone out there. All I ask from the community is don’t knock it before you try it. If your satisfied with the game support the developers so they can continue to make games that we can all love.

    Cool game so far

Have only played about an hour or two but I can see myself grinding this game. I have yet to unlock the full game but seeing as it’s not too much at all I definitely will purchase the base version in due time. I love the fact that there’s so many genres in one and even though the combat is simple and streamlined it still feels like fun gameplay. Liking the game so far and hoping for some new monsters and updates. Great artwork, love that the cutscenes are like comic pages which makes it easy to understand, read and even skip. Tutorial was nice, simple and informative. Great example of how mobile games should be made. Keep it up!

    A pretty engaging RPG

I’ve been looking for a game that could keep me hooked for more than an hour and this game has it. I’ve been enjoying it quite a bit and will continue to do so. It’s simple mechanics but a good system that makes you want to figure out the best combination for your attacks. There is some spelling errors in the game but they are easily overlooked since they’re few and far between. If you want to buy the full version they give you three options for it all with the same content but the higher options give you more of an edge early game. Definitely consider it since this game is worth your time.

    Great game on mobile

This game is a pretty unique mashup of different styles. The exploration is tile based like Dungelot. The battle system is an ATB auto attack with player-activated spells thrown in. And the card collecting and evolving is based on fragments and evo mats that are collected by defeating monsters and finding chests. In some cases too many genres in one can be a bad thing but this game balances them nicely. The difficulty is also pretty well balanced at least up until the point I have gotten to (my whole team is around level 30). I love it so far and highly recommend it. Help support small dev teams!

    Great game... needs more content

This is a great game, all around. Interesting art, strong core game loop, beginning of a compelling story. I want to emphasize “beginning”. While the game is fun, it runs out of story/things to do pretty quick. I started playing a year ago when the game first came out and finished it in a couple of weeks. I was hungry for more, and the devs promised more in several places in the game. But there’s never been a major story update since the original release. It’s with a heavy heart I’m now deleting the game. I’ve played it through twice, but replay just isn’t that appealing- it’s not that kind of game. And that icon on my desktop is a daily reminder of what I’m not getting. To new players: it’s a fun game, totally worth it. Just don’t hold out hope for more. What’s there is all there’s going to be, it seems. To the devs: I understand the limits of a small Indy team. For whatever it’s worth, if you do decide to do a content update I guarantee I’ll buy it. In fact, I think your game is strong enough to justify f2p mechanics, if you ever decided to add them to create a more steady revenue stream. Until then, I need to say goodbye. But if you do update, I promise I’ll be back!

    Entertaining enough, but ....

Played for a few hours, 4 of my characters are lv 20+, and the only real complaint I have is the way the game handles map clearing. At first clicking on squares to open the map was numbing, then annoying, and now I just find it the worst part of this game for me. It is getting to a point where I might delete it because it seems so pointless. I like the cut scenes and how some of the exploring is handled. Wish the game was more like that vs clicking on squares and hearing the effect of glass shattering each time. On a side note the character roster seems a bit small. I have only found one “Tank” type, and it was given via story progression.

Great game concept, some balancing definitely needed still

Side note, Can someone please tell me where to find siren cards? All of the dungeon listings don’t have them from what I’ve seen. Been playing the game passively for a while now, and I find it to be pretty fun. The map clearing can be a little tedious on larger maps, sometimes it’s just flat out overwhelming. Other than that, the only other issue is game balance. There’s a lot of options for elements in the game, but take aether for instance. There isn’t a single card from what I’ve seen that resists it at all, same with nature. Other than that, really fun to pick up for a little while each day.

    Needs a few minor tweaks

1)STORY- The story is a bit bland/unoriginal (though still better than twilight) 2)STORE- I wish I could sell evolving materials at the store and also exchange silver for aether points at a fixed exchange rate. 3)COMBAT- Let it be on a turn basis instead of having the power attack cooldown be based on time in seconds. this would also mean that the enemy no longer attacks at the same time as my units while also making the speed stat be a bit more useful because it would determine when they attack.

    Average

I’m giving this game a 3/5 because overall it’s okay, but there are a few major, major problems that make the game much less enjoyable in my opinion. The first is that the bartenders will give you quest that are too difficult to complete. Seeing as that the whole point of the bartenders giving you quest is to help you practice, and make your creatures stronger, I find it pretty ridiculous. The second is the exit points in the dungeons. If you haven’t found an exit point in a dungeon, and all your creatures are defeated, you have no other choice but to forfeit all the rewards you’ve found in the dungeon so far, and exit with nothing but wasted time. The third is that some items needed to evolve your creatures will only be available in dungeons above your skill level. Your creatures’ levels cap about every 10 or 20 levels, so if your creatures have reached their level cap and still aren’t strong enough to get the required materials, you’re pretty much stuck doing the quests the bartenders give you, which like I said before, are sometimes too difficult to complete. I’m happy that the developers allowed people to play a demo before buying the full version of the game. I also enjoy the evolution of creatures as they get stronger. It makes me want to keep playing to see what they’ll evolve into. Despite the things I enjoy about the game, the things I don’t like, make so much less enjoyable in my opinion.

    Fun..but also not fun

At the time of this review, been playing this game for a few days. It’s been challenging and fun, but I keep finding issues with mechanics. First, the monetary system is broken. You earn so little for exploring dungeons, even less for doing side quests, and to buy anything you need from a merchant is gonna be 20K+ coins. Good luck coming up with that she. A quest only gives 88 coins to capture rare enemies. Second, to level up and evolve your guys takes way too long. Capture a soul to get experience. Sure. The higher the rarity, the more experience. But there’s the faster the needle, and the smaller the capture zone, making this a very unenjoyable process. Find runes and cards to evolve your cards in RNG chests. Okay, yeah, sure, more grinding. I mean, that’s what this game is. A grinding dungeon game.

    Needs a bit more polish

The atmosphere and theme make for a great dungeon crawler. I really would have preferred the ability to slowdown the gameplay to turn base but the game has the charm of Darkest Dungeon so I will keep on with it. Some of the artwork is a bit low quality when using on newer devices however, like on my iPhone 7 Plus. Pixelated? Edit: I’ve reinstalled the game to give it another shot and I’m not exactly sure what’s different but it does feel a bit more cohesive in terms of progression and direction at the beginning of the game so I will continue to play. A graphical update would still be nice as any pixelation in a game today is a mark of poor planning.

Not bad, needs a lot of work

Fairly simplistic combat, akin to a FTP gacha in some ways. Fortunately, there aren’t any FtP mechanics that I’ve seen yet, aside from feeling a bit grindy. Translation is poor but serviceable; lots of poorly spelled or misused words. Bad enough that the story might as well be ignored. More thought would go into team composition than combat, since attacks are automatic and abilities on a flat cooldown. Bosses follow the very basic system of hitting like a ton of bricks; there is zero counterplay once in a battle, aside from saving heal CDs until after attacks land and hoping it wasn’t a fatal crit. Unfortunately for team composition, options are incredibly limited early on. Edit: game includes a story fight that cannot be won and forces you to use a fixed deck. Balance is so bad and variance from crits it so high that it makes you stuck in a loop fighting the same unwinnable fight over and over.

    (Specific?) Frozen Game

Location: Just started the game. The dungeon in the woods after speaking with the mayor. (With the possessed farmers) Bug: I was spam clicking all of the potential spaces in a 3x3 square when a farmer appeared last in the middle, using the amulet I got earlier cleared his tile spot. (Not the initial use, i.e. no cutscene) which froze the game. I was unable to tap anywhere, the music continued playing so not a crash but I had to close the app. The dreaded thought in my mind came to fruition and I had to restart the entire dungeon. Review: Other than this annoying bug, it was a good game. Assuming that there’s a plethora of addition monsters to add onto your team, it’ll be pretty enjoyable. Unfortunately, I wasn’t willing to clear the same dungeon again as I was basically at the end and this game isn’t something you’re gonna find repeating the same fights to be fun. Fix the bug, I’ll fix my rating. Additional Info: I only described the situation I was in, i’m unaware if the bug occurred from quickly tapping tiles, the specific farmer in question, having used the amulet on this farmer or because his surrounding tiles had already been discovered. I was tapping pretty fast when he appeared, I assume it had to do with that.

    Don’t waste your money

Paid full price for the game was fun for a few hours. Then the difficulty ramps up to the point that you can’t advance without spending hours upon days of grinding low level dungeons and even then it’s impossible. to level up a characters past 30 you need to evolve with artifacts but the artifacts cost 20k each and you might get a few hundred by doing a low level dungeon and doing higher level dungeons is pointless because your level 30s are getting smoked by lvl 25 npcs. Healing potions and rez potions rarely drop in high lvl areas. So unless you like beating your head against a wall for an endless amount of time. Save you money. Would be a good game if the devs spent some time balancing the difficulty a little more or offering alternate activities. Boring and frustrating AF...
