Very VERY happy!
First I want to make it clear that I’m VERY biased where Batman is concerned. I’ve been a tremendous fan of the comic books for more than 40 years. But bias aside I’ve really enjoyed this game and its outstanding story. Sure some of the events depart from the established Batman lore, but that normally happens when you reboot material. I’ve noticed a few reviews that seem to be displeased that the game is essentially an interactive comic story, but having played several of the games from this developer I don’t think they’ve done anything different here then in the past. In other words it’s a great story with great character development. You get to make choices at key junctures in the story and those choices will have immediate effect on things and often larger implications later in the story. If you are a game fan who truly enjoys a well told story and would like to have a hand in directing the course of the story then this is definitely a game you’ll enjoy. If your a Batman fan then this game is a must. It’s a fantastic retelling if the established adventures of one of the most iconic characters in comic book history.
Addictive 🤩🤩
I absolutely love this game! The graphics are amazing and the story’s arc really pulls you into the world of Gotham’s #1 hero. I normally don’t buy any games but I was hooked after episode 1. The gameplay is easy to understand without it feeling as though we are being treated as children. The characters are all written well beyond expectations. This is definitely a game that you will want to play countless times over just to enjoy the different endings. I would enjoy if Telltales decided to make games with other DC Heroes such as Green Arrow, Black Canary, Cyborg and Red Tornado just for example. I would even be thrilled if we got to play through a story as the villains! Joker, Harley Quinn, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, and Black Manta are some of my favorites. I hope in the future we might even get a game where we can create our own hero (male/female) with in the DC universe and have them be the sidekick (which later they turn into their own hero) to one of the DC heroes (or even villains). I greatly enjoyed this game and can’t wait to see what else TellTale with give us in the future.
DC Forever!
The Multiverse is real. We know that now in real life. Comics knew it long before that. This game took the acclaimed Arkham series and merged it with choose your own adventure the traditional comic feel and the tv show feel. Yet it is more complicated; the drama is solid. The advantage of being an older franchise is that you’ve done it all. Thus you can experiment and take risks. Taking a famous origin and twisting it is a great creative move. “Behind every fortune there is a crime.” I’d always wondered if all of Bruce’s ancestors were honest... Bruce may be but this family dirt is his struggle. My suggestion? Keep doing this same format. Batman is fine. Do this gaming series with other heroes too. Like Green Arrow or whoever. Personally, I’m a huge Wonder Woman fan and want to see her get her due. Bring in bestselling speculative fiction writers to make the storylines. Great work though and all the best!
Forgot what you thought of Batman
Sooooooo first off I was brought here because of the sequel which was highlighted in editors choice. I said I could play the sequel without the start. I would like to say I'm not disappointed. As another reviewer put it, it's an interactive movie and less of a full on game. If any of you remember Shenmue (sp?) For Dreamcast then you know what I'm talking about. The reason why I gave it 5 is because this was done well. The story and your choices through the game come back to haunt help or hurt you later. And how it does that is spectacular. Finally this puts a whole spin on what we know for bat man. Characters you know and thought you understood are suddenly different but familiar. If you are a fan of Batman on any level and are looking for more story and less button mashing, this is for you.
Outstanding! 👏🏻
For the record, I rarely give out 5 stars and write a lengthy review. So, here goes. I made sure to read a good majority of the reviews right off the “bat” (😉). Gotta say this: “Game’s excellent!”. I already finished Batman: The Enemy Within first and back-tracked to this one, because both Telltale games are darn great. I’ve heard of the gaming company before but, didn’t give the stuff a try until recently. Worth the additional / extra purchases (in my book). Haven’t been this engaged in a “device” game (or app, in fact) ever (not counting certain board or old-school games. Talking about the RPG or third-person kind.). Will definitely check out the developer’s other offerings after this. Looking forward to a third Batman installment (to complete a “trilogy”? 🤔)
Great RPG
While I love Batman, I have outgrown the need to have to master the controls of a new game. I simply wanted a game where I could sit back and enjoy the narrative. Only occasionally making crucial decisions. This game delivered and then some. The game is more like an immersive comics where you get to make strategic decisions. I would prefer they removed the need for me to even punch the crooks, I had rather set the strategy and let Batman execute. The strength of the game is its narrative. The characters are three dimensional and you can really slip into the skin of a vigilante who pretends to be a billionaire playboy. So far, I have enjoy the first few scenes. I just hope that the decisions have real implications down the line.
Gr8 BUT......
Excellent game! Graphics are fantastic, the story line is fantastic. I am a HUGE fan of Telltale games, TWD, TWAU, Guardians Of The Galaxy, etc. I am by far the biggest fan of these kind of games. I’ve played every single one thus far except for the Batman games which I’m in the process of playing now, hence my review. The only negative thing I have to say about this game is the price. The price is too high. Granted there are times you can get the episodes on sale, but the sales are not given often. That’s the only reason why I never give 5 stars for any of the Telltale games because of how high the price is. I get they need to make their money and stuff, but given the popularity of Telltale games, and how many games they have, they should be able to lower the price a bit.
Nick’s experience.
The game is better than some might believe. It’s a solid story and a unique tale of the Dark Knight - I For one appreciate most of it but some scenes and plot lines could’ve been a lot better. Catwoman was underplayed and her voice actress is an overused character actress. Some of the scenes feel rushed or unrealistic. Yet the overall feeling is unique and different. This changes everything... the game changed how I view the Batman comics and the story overall. It’s a fresh take and the creative freshness is a 9/10. I like it, at times more than the Dark Knight saga. It’s somewhat better than Batman Begins and certainly an origin story.
Great story and yet a not-so-good game
I just finished the game, and now am writing a fresh review. It is easily assumed that gamers are about to play an action/adventure game before entering any Batman game. However it wasn’t that case for this one. It is basically a conversational game, and all those plots and storylines make it a fancy conversational game. The story is tremendously ambitious and totally surprises me in the first place. And... so much for complimentary. As for a game, it fails, for instance, to even respond to gamers. Sometimes I swipe or tap and the icons don’t respond at all (the appearance of them don’t change), and it causes anxiety. Even more ironically, Batman can still act sometimes while I don’t tap the button. In that way, why bother play a game rather than watch a Batman film? Last but not least, I played with subtitles in mandarin. The translation is disastrously awful! How awful? Just like a Chinese elementary school kid’s English homework. How about hiring me next time!
I do love this game but the port is bad
First of all, I am a fan of telltale games and I really love how they deliver the story in this game too. But there are so many flaws in ios version of this game. First, graphic. I am playing this game on my ipad pro 11 iphone xs. But for both of the devices, the resolution of the game is so low and do not fit to the screen. Especially on the ipad, the game play screen is using only about half of the entire ipad screen. Also, the resolution of the game is too low that makes everything kind of blurry. Second is icloud sync. I have an iphone and an ipad. I usually play this game on ipad at home but when I am outside, I hoped I can continue playing this game on my phone as advertised. After playing about an hour on my ipad, I tried to sync the save file to my phone. But it wasn't syncing. I tried to reboot the game on my ipad and app crashed and save file was gone. I played the game little bit just to get a save file and tried to make the save file sync. After trying several more times, the file finally synced one time from my ipad to my iphone. But that was the first and last time that the save file was synced. I kept trying to sync the file but it never worked. I really love this game but cant play properly on ios devices. Please, fix.
You need to consider what you’re buying
If you’re buying this because it’s a terrific animated comic in the Batman universe with a stunning story then please do and enjoy. If your intention is to purchase a game in the Batman universe...there are other games that are superior. Far superior to this “game”. This is an animated comic that asks you to occasionally swipe and poke the screen at key times to invoke the sense of interaction. Most of the time if you simply ignore the requests, they will go away and the narrative will continue until the next request, which, again, in most cases you are free to ignore completely......not a game as much as a loosely interactive narrative, and in my opinion not very good at that. I’m very happy they allow you to have the first episode for free as I would not be just disappointed, but outright angry if I’d paid money for this. Telltale, I love you. I love what you do and how you do it, I own most of your products on pc and over the years you have earned my respect as a game maker. Your name alone warrants that I have a look at your products without question, but this current direction is questionable and gives me pause for many reasons that I won’t go into here. If this is the new Telltale, I won’t be continuing the journey with you, sorry. Again, if you are looking for a mildly interactive narrative experience, this is excellent. If you are looking for a game, look elsewhere.
Broken and Literally Unplayable; Caveat Emptor
I recently have downloaded three games made by Telltale, including this Batman title. (The other two were Batman: The Enemy Within and The Wolf Among Us.) I had previously purchased all episodes for each of the games, but I did not have the time or storage to play them. All three games suffer from the same critical problem. The first episode downloads without incident, but none of the additional episodes download. Instead, it simply states "coming soon" for episodes that have been released for years. The Wolf Among Us also demonstrates graphical glitching on the episodes menu. I'm aware Telltale folded in October 2018, but after paying $15 (or more) for each game, respectively, it is not unreasonable to expect to receive what I paid for. I'm hoping this is a tempory problem caused by some isolated compatability issue. Until then, avoid purchasing any of the games I set forth above. As of now, it's a waste of money. I will happily change this review if and when the problems are resolved.
Issue with purchase and no response from team
It’s a huge shame I have to write this. I loved the gameplay. The story was progressing great, it was easy to play and fun and an awesome distraction from life. I loved it so much I purchased the multipack. I bought all the episodes. As I finished episode two, I put my phone done to deal with my mom’s medication. I came back, ready to download episode three... only to be met with an ad to download all episodes for 15 dollars.... but I thought I already did? Yeah, I have the receipt. But now all other episodes are asking for individual purchases or 15 dollars to repurchase all of the episodes. I don’t have money to spare. I reached out for help. I sent two emails. I’ve submitted two requests for assistance. I’ve heard NOTHING but a form letter telling me to contact support for assistance... I guess I’ll have to go with my bank to dispute the charge. I’m so disappointed.
I haven’t play the game yet but.
Listen to me I know I haven’t played the game but it’s not even letting me download it. Takes up too much space and it looks like a very good game but also looks very very fake. So I’m not sure if I should give up on it or keep trying. If it does work I’ll probably edit this review or make a new one which is very unlikely. I heard so many reviews about how it doesn’t work on a tablet, the screen. I was about to download this on my phone I deleted a lot of apps and still nothing. I even tried doing it on my tablet, nothing happened. Other than that I have no idea what’s wrong with this app except for me not being able to download. Works for you good for you if it doesn’t I’m sorry, just gonna have to be like the rest. Please fix this and everybody else’s complaints to make this game way better even though it’s not the “original” game.
