Reina has her work cut out for her
Pretty sure slaying monsters and close friends wasn’t in the job description but this maid has to do it anyway. I must say, I am having fun with this game. The last game of this kind that I played was KH Chain of Memories and it was super fun, I am loving this one too. You have to decide which cards you keep and which ones you discard. The monsters are also pretty tough if you get rid of cards carelessly so pay close attention when you decide to discard them. The art is amazing and so far, Reina is an interesting character. Sure, she hasn’t said a word and we mostly have to infer what is going on but regardless she’s pretty cool. Beware the cute maids, they are often times carrying butcher knives with them. Give the game a try, you might enjoy yourself like I am!
This is just amazing. Surprisingly of the highest quality
This game omg am I glad I stumbled upon it. It just oozes quality. A rogue like where you try to go as far into the dungeon as you can. Each death leads to better cards for the next run and the loop goes on. The visuals are breathtaking imo. Love the style of the characters. Great UI and background music. It’s truly a free rogue like game that could be worth $20. You don’t have to pay a penny to get the full experience. I’m loving the game and will definitely shell out some $$$ to support the developer. Also, I love the different character skins for Reina. Keep it up!!!
Worth Playing, Needs More
First off I want to say this game is incredibly fun and has a great amount of replay ability. Each run is different because of the card pools and no two decks you build are exactly the same, however it is too easy to win (at least for me) even on the hardest difficulty, especially if you get the right few overpowered cards. It’s a little too easy to pick up a single Vampiric Fangs buff (they are so common) and just face-tank all the phantoms while going all in and healing using only attacks and win basically every time. It’s fun collecting and reading all the diary entries (and I have yet to find any notes) but because of the lack of difficulty it’s become more of a grind for me to reveal more of the story... Arcade mode was a neat addition but I’m still hungry for more... Which goes to show how great the game is really. I crave more content, higher difficulty, more diverse cards and mechanics. Keep updating this devs!
Give it a try
The first thing I’ll say is you probably checked this app out because you have some appreciation for anime/manga, that’s why I did. I love the artwork in this game, it manages to create cute characters that still work with the darker theme. The music is good too. As for the gameplay it’s very unique, especially for a mobile game, and is enjoyable and repayable. You recreate your deck every run with upgrades in between and difficulty increases. On to advertising, it’s very tame for the current standard and the majority of them are optional. IAPs are also very tame, and the option to disable ads is $5 and comes with some gameplay flow tweaks to make the game more enjoyable, although it’s entirely optional and you honestly only should buy if you want to support the dev, which I did. My verdict is that this is a quality game which has some clear effort put into it, and it’s free so give it a try.
Better than you’d expect
As simple as the game is, the freedom of not having to worry about how much in-game currency would affect the experience and not having to commit to one deck throughout the entire game makes this game stand out from the rest. The level of progression is spaced out just enough to keep me hooked and the strategy involved is far more complex than the simple concept of the game. I found it not too challenging to make me stressed but just enough to make it interesting. Not to mention, the art is beautiful! Much respect!
Game is crazy good.
Seriously I’d play this on PC if I could. People have compared this to darkest dungeon but really it’s something else entirely. It has somewhat the same aesthetic but only because it’s kinda dark? The game stands out very well. With combat that is a sorta a card game but with it being closer to a puzzle game mixed with an rpg. I mean the compliments don’t stop here the games story although light on details is a fun slide show to watch and I found it to be the only iPhone game where I actually paid attention to the scenes.
Love and bug
I have been playing this game for about 24hours, and I loved every second of it. The cards are very balanced and the fighting style is so free. I absolutely love the game play and learning all the cards so I could easily pick and choose what I needed. In the pick a card mini game, sometimes I don't get to see the second card before telling me I messed up, basically making me blindly re choose two cards. It's the only issue I've run into so far. Thank you for making a great game.😁
Not p2w
From my experience the game is very good looking with amazing music and great gameplay but I was expecting a pay to win game when I first got on it but was very happy to see I could win a run without having to spend money on packs or upgrades in the game packs are got from a resource you get a decent amount of each day and upgrades are bought with these shards that you get from finishing a run it’s very easy to get but you don’t get to much at the same time
Great asthetic, deep gameplay
Super simple concept that quickly turns into deep roguelike deck building. Gothic anime graphics that give off a Castlevania feel make the game super enjoyable and easy to take in. The cards and items are super well balanced, and the IAP's are primarily cosmetic and ad relative (though there are few ads and there is no need for premium currency, as the points you need to progress your character are earned in game and separate from the cosmetic ones) Overall super mega ultra cool game 😋
Wonderful game
I really like this game. I love the art style, I love the enemy designs, the environment, I just love it. The style and music is my favorite part of this game. The play style is really interesting, I always liked rouge like games, especially card game info games, and this is no exception. I like all the different decks you can build, and the fact that you need to play around with cool downs, (and health in risky mode) is which really helps this game stand out on any other rouge like card game. My only complaint is that it’s too easy, once you figure out the boss gimmicks you don’t lose a lot (except against Charlotte as a stage 1 boss, but she’s not too threatening if she appears as a later boss fight). The hardest part for me is getting started, but stages 2 and especially stage3 aren’t that hard for me because I already have my deck built, I don’t know if it’s just me but I don’t think that the enemies scale enough in strength or to punish you for playing certain gimmicks (like Time who was the first boss I lost because I stacked a lot of bleed on her). This game needs stronger enemies, and ways that they can counter you if you play a certain style (I played decks with a lot of bleed debuff so many times and won because none of the enemies except Time and Lucia have a way to deal with debuffs). Overall I like this game, and would recommend as an introduction to rouge likes.
Great Game, Needs A Bit More Polish
The game is fantastic, a perfect way to kill some time in my opinion. The mechanics are innovative, the story is interesting, especially with the lore bits we have to dig up through playing harder difficulties. A lot of the fights are genuinely challenging and require you to think before you play. With the amount of variety in this game, it's hard to believe that it's free- but it is. It's a great game and one of my favorites. But there's a lot of unexpected bugs. The most disorienting, and really, the one that should be getting the most attention, being the constant crashing. The game can crash at any moment for seemingly no reason. Initiate an attack? Crash. Tap on the opening menu screen? Crash. Do literally anything? It crashes. No matter how fun the game is, it's annoying, especially when it happens constantly without fail. Other than that, I'd say that this game would be perfect if it was just polished a bit more. I really enjoy it and I'm looking forward to its future.
Possible improvements
-My biggest problem is with card upgrades. A lot of the upgrades I see so far add flat dmg or defense but not the effect or cool down. I.e. star sword deals 9 dmg, needs 7 turns to cool down and reduces cd of all attack card. When you upgrade this you only get +1 flat dmg, which is likely not going to make a difference. If the upgrade makes the card reduces cd by 2 instead, there will be a lot more possibilities of investment for players imo. -I think the story is a bit confusing. I’m on standard diamond so idk if everything gets explained later, but it would be great to add some dialogues so that we have a better idea of what’s going on. -A bug that occasionally appeared to me: after hitting battle button, the current turn would automatically repeat itself. With all that being said, this is still a great game with a lot of potential!
Pretty Fun
It’s a pretty fun game that doesn’t drain your wallet. I was getting a little burnt out on the other games I play, so this was a nice change of pace. Overall, I really like the atmosphere and aesthetic. And the gameplay, while simple, does seem pretty solid for the most part. Edit: I also wanted to add that for those of you who are dissatisfied with the story, you can actually unlock documents expanding upon the lore after completing different adventures. :) I’d recommend going back and completing every level on risky mode for the full story. I found the gameplay so addicting that I actually discovered these extra texts on accident. It’s honestly amazing to think about how this game was created by a single person. Keep up the good work!
Unique but familiar
I originally purchased this game on Steam, granted it plays almost the exact same as it did on there BUT it seems to be tailored to the mobile experience. It has been awhile since I’ve played the one on steam. Since the last time I played, any cards played would be removed from the deck. Now it’s cool down based which I like a lot better. Maybe the developers changed that because this version is far more enjoyable than previously done on its PC version. I gave it a 4/5 stars because gameplay wise it’s very well done. But you can tell the Developers are hurting for money since 2 skins cost anywhere from $12-17. Truthfully that alone makes me kind of want to delete the game. My suggestion is to add DLC that include extra cards like the Fire and Lightning packs, put those skins in there and sell those for the $16 price tag. Two skins alone isn’t worth the money and anyone who buys it must have extra funds to give anyway. Lastly items, these need to be seen or highlighted I always forget I have them. I’m too into the calculations. Overall the game is well made but it is optionally money hungry.
