    Before 2019 Retina display update

I want to take the time to rate this app before I put in this new update since I never took the time to do so. This app is absolutely positively amazing. You don’t need to put money to play you can play with people online you can play the computer you can build your deck when booster packs you can buy decks from earning points you can trade with people online and add your own decks and packs from the real world. There’s not much more you can as for. But what I can ask is that I would like an option to communicate with people while playing them online also able to message people if they’re off-line so that they may receive word from us when they return and lastly fix the mis haps with the data not recognizing me. I would have to force close app to re log as myself and not a new user. And option to customize background and background music could be pretty sweet. Other than that great work Pokémon TCG team great job 💯

Best for Pokémon Trainers and fans :)

This is one of my MOST FAVORITE games! I love this game. Earning your cards and building decks, strategy, and using your cards and making a plan to bring your victory with the cards and getting rewards! And opening packs is fun u never know what the last card of a pack is. Also, I do wish they would add more modes like 2v2 where random teamate against another duo or pair would be cool and more things! But still 5 star and it may be hard to pickup but it’s fun and I’m getting good at the game fast although for beginners I recommend starting with theme decks and building your way up and making decks and getting more into the strategy aspect later in the game where it matters more. TIP: try ur decks in versus a lot and rly know ur deck at heart before entering event this ensures you will do well and get top although if u get unlucky with your weakness it’s gonna be hard but still manageable if you really know what your doing. Great game. 😁

Great game, but trending away from strategy

I love playing Pokémon TCG Online! It is fun to play, the UI is solid and reliable, the reward system is clear and sensible, and the trading forum has been very helpful for obtaining cards I can’t seem to get lucky enough to find in the booster packs. The gameplay, however, is becoming more about luck than strategy. First, the newer decks - I’m looking at you, Relentless Flame - are OP compared to the older decks. Playing with Relentless Flame is a mindless endeavor, because it’s simply a matter of getting the Stage 2s in play first or flipping heads with Rapidash, like, 6 times in a row. Anyone with a basic sense of the rules can too often crush a veteran player just by chance, even if both are using Relentless Flame. Second, many custom deck battles come down to how and when the GXs match up and when you get Guzma in your hand. Other custom deck battles are just rehashing theme deck battles - I’m still looking at you, Relentless Flame - or they involve players with disparate amounts of time in the game, as demonstrated by the cards, not necessarily the skill level (four Pikachu/Zekrom tag teams in one deck...seriously, people?). All of that said, the battles that do primarily resolve through strategy make this a great game, despite such battles becoming fewer and farther between. Even if nothing is done about the balance issues, I will keep playing Pokémon TCGO for years to come.

    Not just for kids!

This free to play game is a blast! It gives you everything you need to learn the game, earn decks and find your style of play. It requires thought and strategy and honestly is fun for all ages. I haven’t once felt manipulated or frustrated by it. The decks you earn are actually useable and fun to learn and unless you want to compete at high levels it’s more than enough for hours and hours of enjoyment. The whole family can enjoy this game and it’s ALMOST too complicated for younger children but the art is quite appealing to them and if you can teach them the game it would definitely give them advantages elsewhere in life if they learned it. Get it and play it is all I can say I don’t think most people would regret trying it.

This game is great despite all the OP Decks

Ok, so fighting online is hard with these new decks taking over people say. And they are not wrong. It does become annoying. But you don’t need to worry about that. I don’t use those decks nor purchase them cause they are busted. But when things get hard TCG Players don’t give up or quit. Just keep pushing forward. Yes, it’s frustrating to face those OP Decks. But I am doing ok and I Use the Mental Might Deck sometimes the Crushing Current and The other decks from Trainer Challenges. Cause I see potential in older decks rather than using busted decks. This game is great and I want to befriend people after versus matches so we can practice using decks. Have a good day everyone. And keep your High Hopes up you will get there

Best way to play without unorganized Pokémon cards

This game is really fun and addicting to me. It’s the best way to play without cards scattered and cluttered in your house. Though one thing I have to say is the new sword and shield packs aregetting too far with these new Pokémon. We should keep it the original way to play normally. Also, I am getting mixed on what this new region is. The way this expansion is going is “Way to Fast” . The new popular cards like the Ex’s, Mega Ex’s, and GX’s are now V’s and V Max’s. The cards are changing really fast and are turning into nothing interesting. If the Pokémon company could listen to me, I would say to slow down and think about other people’s reviews and concerns. Overall you are doing amazing with Pokémon TCG!

    Made for Pokémon TCG Fans

This game has a great progression system with the standard starter decks given to you at the start of the game. You gradually get harder AI’s as you play longer, and it really shines for veteran players. I do feel that if you’re new to the TCG scene I wouldn’t recommend this app unless you have a friend who is really good at Pokémon or just trading card games in general. The only reason why I don’t give this a 5\5 is the interface on the home screen isn’t completely user friendly in that they don’t educate you on what button does what. There is also no redeeming capabilities for card packs on this app game. You have to literally go on your computer or be taken to safari on the website to redeem your deck and cards. In the end if your a die hard fan and knowledgeable of the Pokémon game it gives you plenty of reward systems to be able to purchase more cards. Once you get on that grind train of achieving rewards it feels so satisfying buying the packs. After you buy the packs there is multiple game modes that allows you to thrive as a player. Personally I am not really good at deck building, but that’s ok Pokémon TCG provides you the tools so that you can be able to focus on the game rather than the frustration of deck building. I especially like the themed deck game mode that is what sold me.

    One major improvement needed

I love the app. People complain about the game itself and new decks making the game not fun but that has nothing to do with the app. As far as the app is concerned I love how smooth it is and the improvements to make the game more visual are amazing. The one thing I’d like them to focus on more is the collecting aspect of the app. I’d like there to be better support for keeping track of your cards and what you have and don’t have and be able to make checklists of what you need and search for cards you need on the trading forums. Right now if I wanted to collect a set I’d have to keep referring back to and huge list that just shows everything and it’s not kept organized in a way that lets me check off what I do and don’t have over time. I know I can mark cards for want and search those on the trades but if I’m collecting a whole set I don’t want to search the entire collection at once.

    My favorite app

This is my favorite app. It is very exciting keeps me busy and lots of fun plus my daughter loves it. There are a few minimum things that could be improved that would make this a five star app hands down. But still want to give credit to the developers becauseThey did a wonderful job. One thing that that could be improved would be for tournaments you should be able to watch the tournament if you lose first round or second round that would be so amazing just be a spectator even though the person loss. The next thing would be for the ability to be credited for wins when someone quits the game rather than not be credited at all. Lastly need to improve majorly the battling display for when Pokémon attack it should show the Pokémon in 3D doing attacks instead of minimum attacks effects. Do the same type of 3D attacks like how Pokémon stadium attacks look. But still the best app ever. Thank you POKÉMON.

    Fun For All

My daughter grew up loving Pokémon and we even bought her several cards back when it came out. She never played but still loved getting the cards. She and I have both been playing Pokémon Go for several years and she and her fiancé were recently invited by friends to try the real thing. They love it so much that they got on this Pokémon TCG app to “sharpen” their skills and familiarize themselves with the different cards and strategies out there. Because of their enthusiasm here I am a 46 year old momma now addicted to this app. It’s fun and I love learning how certain cards play together or against each other. I think it’s brilliant for people who may have trouble interpreting some of the rules on the cards because it does it for you which helps you learn the correct way to play. Great for people who love strategic games. It’s like the funnest most complex game of rock, paper, scissors you’ll ever play.

It is really fun, but imbalanced.

I used to have to have this game, and I made myself a hella cool deck. However, I forgot my login info and I was unable to recover it so I had to start from scratch. And now that I don’t have all the cards to make a super strong deck yet, I realize that there is no way to match players with the same experience. Sometimes, I will get matched against someone who has clearly been playing on their account for months, and there is just nothing I can do because I have had this account for a week, and only have like 2 strong Pokémon and the starting trainers basically. I would enjoy it much more if there was a matchmaking system where you could be paired up with someone who is equal to you that is based on a standardized system, like in other strategy deck games, such as clash Royale.

The new decks make this no fun

I really enjoy playing the Pokémon TCG. It’s a game with a lot of thoughtful strategy and is balanced in such a way that for the most part, smart play can help you come back from being behind and can also even out new players with veterans so that there isn’t a horrible barrier to entry. The app is also totally free to play and offers a lot of variation so that you can endlessly play. But I started getting really irritated with this game within the last 6 months or so. They released two new decks, the Mach Strike and Imperial Command decks. These decks are so overpowered compared to all the decks released. It’s very easy to do essentially one-hit kill damage within three, if not two turns. Occasionally you can come back to win if you get really lucky and if you quite literally play your cards right. But good luck getting to that point, because half of the people I play with use this deck to just grind. They quit out immediately if things start going south, and it drives me up the wall. I love playing a game that goes for a solid 10 minutes and provides a good challenge between two equally matched players, and this has become so few and far between because everyone just uses the same two decks because they’re the best, and no one actually wants a challenge. I wish Pokémon would change these decks or get rid of them entirely, because they’ve ruined the fun and balance of the game.

    “Luck”

The game plays well overall, but i do have a couple issues with it. 1.) It seems that no matter how many energies that are put in the deck, you either draw them all at once or don't see a single one for a majority of the game. This can also be applied to Pokemon and trainer cards, especially Basic Pokemon. 2.) Coin flips are not very “true to chance,” on several occasions i have witnessed times where a coin has landed on heads/tails 7+ times in a row multiple times in a game. Knowing how uncommon it is to get it to happen 5 times in a row, let alone it happening multiple times in a game, it really makes me question how “50/50” the coin flips really are 3.) It would also be nice to be able to earn coins a little bit faster or in larger quantities. I feel like you should also consider adding a “Card Shop” where instead of buying a pack hoping for a card, you can save up your coins and definitely pay more than a pack (for most cards) to get that single card you are looking for.

    Game is pre-determined

I’ve been playing this game for about a month and I am convinced as soon as you hit “play”, the AI has already determined which player is going to win. It might be the “timely” supporter card they are dealt or the lack of such card on my part. I lost count on how many times I only needed one more attack to win and magically, the other player got a “retreat” card or some “magic” card to flip the script. Okay, so I get the online aspect of a server “shuffling” the deck for you and the supposed randomness of the order of your deck. Total B.S. The AI will “nudge” the game whichever way it wants. I have seen it happen both ways - for me and against me. I have beaten someone with a tremendous deck and have been beaten by someone without one single V, GX, or VMax. It really is a shame because the interface is easy and it would be quite enjoyable if it was strictly a head to head, best person and strategist wins. I think this is why most players will concede the match very early — sometimes even after the shuffle — because they know the fix is in. Take a look at the negative reviews and you will see them starting to pile up because of how they’ve ruined a great strategy heavy game to one of picking winners and losers by a server.
