    Fun game. Well balanced.

So, at first I thought this game was a pretty decent time sink. But, after playing for a couple weeks, I’ve found it to be a pretty fair game. It doesn’t nickel and dime you. There is obviously an advantage to paying for resources. But you can definitely get buy without it. There are plenty of gifts and ways to spend time earning metal. The one thing I wish was different is rate oil generates. I think it’s definitely too slow. But, it hasn’t bummed me out completely yet. If oil generated faster, I’d definitely play more. Now, why am I writing this review? The game is definitely fun. I will probably continue to play it. I admit I have paid for a resource pack. I took advantage of the Memorial Day sale. And this is what compelled me to write a review. They used proceeds to benefit a charity for the children of fallen soldiers. How can you not support a developer who supports a cause like that? So. Thank you to the developer and here is a review to say keep up the good work and thanks for supporting the families who have sacrificed so much for our country.

Like clash of clans, but fun!

I normally can’t stand the “clash of clans clone” genre of mobile games, but this one so far is the exception. Progression is pretty steady, adequately guided and most importantly: obtainable without the usual pay to win formula. There is also more to the PVP/PVE RTS portions where instead of just having strength in numbers to win you every match, you need to diversify your units to make sure your entire attack isn’t stopped by a lone Apache gunship or that one max level tank left to defend their base. Rewards are frequent but also completely random in most cases, and this can sometimes cause a deadlock in battle modes because you’re unable to upgrade a specific vehicle’s armor plating or level. But a new game mode just introduced yesterday promises to remedy that as long as you’re willing to grind out the special currency over many battles to afford the price tag on buying bulk amounts of the resources for unit progression

    The Game is Awesome!

So I am a pretty high level in this game and I am in a huge Alliance with other powerful players. Overall in the months I have played this game, there has never really been a dull moment, well until i run out of oil for the day. There are times when you will be flying through levels and upgrading troops left and right, and there are times where the game can be a bit slow, but overall, I have never enjoyed a mobile game for as long as I do here. Yes there are Pay to Win situations, but even level one troops that are for end game use, such as the Super Hind, are still good if you use them strategically. Reaver is a bit broken though. Anyway, I love this game, 5-stars for keeping me going for this long, and is a blast to play to burn time. I do hope that in the future, the game slowly becomes less pay to win. Without the pay to win aspect, This game would too any others.

Finding a needle in a haystack!

Even though they have subscriptions, I do NOT feel like this game is a pay-to-win and it certainly isn’t a pay-to-play. I played this game for a couple of hours a day for the past couple of days and I haven’t seen a single ad nor have they forced ads on me. I honestly gave up hope that there was games like that on the mobile market anymore. Especially ones that are free. I honestly haven’t seen or played a strategy game that doesn't have wait tokens since 2012. Seriously, finding this game was a stroke of pure luck and one that I am soo proud of. This studio needs to keep of the good work and I look forward to checking out and playing all your other games!!

    So amazingly fun, but....

I love this game, in fact this is my favorite type of game style. This game is so fun and is so much mor fun than my original game Empires and Allies. But every game you play you obviously have a limited amount of troops and others and a star rating of how much you destroyed. Yet the worst thing is the timer for how long you have to battle. In one game I destroyed all of the enemies defenses but only had about five troops left, only the really naturally strong buildings were left but I only had one min and thirty seconds left. I was attacking the building and got really close to destroying it but I ran out of time and lost because the building gave a lot of points. I didn’t get upset just disappointed. Please have this small problem fixed and please remove the timer or give more time for people to attack.

It does have some serious flaws, yet, ...

I too, have had the “check your internet connection” issue happen several times a day, ... it is a random event, but definitely a flaw, as like the other players have stated, a definite downside, as you not only lose any oil spent, & potential booty as well, but you are dunned with a loss, which equates to also losing your xperience points, ... in addition to the other losses incurred, ... and how do you xpect the players to be able to stay online, in this game, when we are constantly running out of the precious oil, & can only have a very limited amount of reserves, ... this is a definitive letdown to the very idea of the basis for the no build times concept, ... it is demeaning to imply that there are no wait times, when that is simply not true, nor an accurate representation, ... you must wait on your supplies to build, metal, oil, & thorium, ... which cannot be done as there is no way to purchase thorium in any package in the store, .... even if a player would idiotically want to buy the product, ... and small packages would sell a heck of a lot faster than the more xpensive ones, ... so rethink your conceptualization of what your corporation is promoting, ... do right by the players, the ones who make your corporate numbers people look like geniuses, instead of the greedy insidious beings they truly are, ...

    Amazing, but needs more support

I love the concept of this game and I love that there’s no wait timers, which make it better and more fun than CoC. That all being said, there is almost no community involvement. Most of the alliances are inactive, and there is almost no unit/building information outside of what you see on your screen (which isn’t enough as some units deal more damage to buildings than others, have longer reload times, etc.). Lvls 1-30 are great, unit choices are limited and you understand the strengths of each unit. After that, your unit choices expand and it’s incredibly frustrating to learn how each unit will perform before you invest time and/or money in leveling it up. There’s a wiki page, linked on the developer’s website, but it is woefully outdated/incomplete. The Reddit community is also inactive. The frustration of not having the information to make an intelligent decision on which unit I want to pursue/upgrade is causing me to start looking in other directions for a strategy game.

Good ideas, but a developing game- with crashing

I really want to love this game... I like it a lot but it is Infuriating that since the last update, it stops right toward the end of a battle (when it is supposed to divvy out the extra rewards) with a “Please check your internet connection and try again”. The game just freezes at that point and has to be force-closed. Happens on any wireless or cell signal, and when I can confirm a solid open pipe to the internet. I've lost several matches or lost out on he double rewards because it crashed like that sometime through it. Only game on my phone that I have this problem with. Also, I have a bone to pick with the touch response- I have a full screen on my phone but they continue to lock down the touch response to the inside center. So you could be in battle and thinking you're telling your troops to do something, but they just sit there doing whatever because you didn't move the focus of the map to the center- where you want to touch next. And seriously, why can't you rotate in this game? Why are we locked in to one view of the map? Get these thing addressed and you'll have a stellar game, though expensive to play more than 20-30 minutes a day.

    Too expensive

This game is fun for awhile but eventually you will need to spend money to continue to play at the higher levels. The game is full of glitches that they never seem to be able to fix. They release content before it’s ready. If you want to be competitive it costs $400-$800 per month if you want to be a top player. If you want to download it it, play it until it’s going to cost you money then stop. No matter how much you spend it’s never enough. The developers are greedy. And no matter what this developer says. It is not possible to obtain useful units for free. Even if you were to purely grind out and get the units free by the time you got it done and maxed out the unit the unit is no longer relevant. Realistically you still won’t be able to grind it out. You’ll run out of oil before you can achieve your goal. You have to spend the money to get your units quickly and level them up to the max. Otherwise they are basically useless at your level. Especially the higher levels. I never minded putting money into the game. It’s what pays the bills. What I do mind is the amount of value I get out of the money I spend. That value has slowly but surely diminished the longer I played. The only reason I played it for as long as I did was because of the people I met through the game. That does count for something but not enough. FYI Kixeye responds to bad reviews quicker than reported problems with the game. That says a lot about what they as a company care about.

    Disconcerning

I've played this game for almost 3 years Only for update after update to appease the 1000$ gamers. Not every player. The updates foe more powerful weapons that only certain people will have to wreak havoc on smaller players thier is no mechanix to expunge players for hitting smaller players .. Sure give me the ..Its a War game. Sure it is. But this company needs new players the old ones that have achieved Top status get free gold with events. Free upgrades. The small players have no chance . And before you say well .. I put money into this game to be powerful but you cannot stay on top of the app developer keeps changing the percentage of what weapons power. Most of the time it's. Oh we talked to player's and this Mastiff is too strong and they decrease it's ability even though players did all they could to Max it out only to see it decrease in power. Oh ya I almost forgot . I had my Trident open only to have an update and 75% of my Fragments went missing. Then when you send a ticket to see why they are gone they want proof of every Fragment collected. Seriously they want screenshots of every Fragment earned. I ask you seasoned players when have ya done that? I stopped playing because it is a breach of service to put the burden of proof on the player who has no knowledge forehand on what a new update might cause. That's like putting a chicken in a wolf's den and saying hopefully it'll be there tomorrow.. are you serious. ??

    Cheating

There are players that manipulate the medals system to gain components to strengthen their troops. The developers are fully aware of this and have been for well over a year and choose not to address this. This is how it works. High level players purposely lose in PvP to reduce their medal count so low that they get matched against bases they can defeat without losing oil. At the end of the match, they also get rewarded with crates that award them components to strengthen their army, and some crates award gold. They do this until they are satisfied and others just keep doing this infinitely because no one can stop them from doing so. What does this mean for the honest player? If you are low level like I am, that means you get attacked frequently by these scum bags and you often lose. Your stats get ruined and your medal count drops, hurting your bonus rewards gained from successful attacks. I’ve submitted tickets to the support team, but nothing changes... and if I complain enough, they will give me large amounts of gold with the intent to shut me up. Cheaters are rampant and support will do nothing about it. BE WARNED!!!

Shameless Cash Grab with 0 Incentive

As the title says, this game is a cash grab with 0 incentive to play, if you don’t want to spend money. All the units a level-gated, which would be fine, if the way you advanced your level was fair. In order to progress, you have to upgrade the buildings in your base, which gives you experience to increase your level and earn all those cool units. To upgrade your buildings, you need metal, which you can refine, get from missions, or acquire through PvP. Simple enough, right? Here’s the big issue: PvP is always active and the matchmaking doesn’t match player level. You get bum rushed by players anywhere from 5-15 levels higher than you, so they can roll you for your hard earned resources. There’s no way to defend against these guys, either, because their level provides them better tech. In order to compete, or enjoy this game, they want you spend ridiculous amounts of money. Well, I refuse. A few dollars here and there would have been fine, but this sort of ‘freemium’ formula is cancerous.

Stay away unless you have deep pockets

Be careful of a company which raised $20 million to build technology to better market and monetize game play through machine learning. In War Commander: Rogue Assault, skill and strategy take a backseat to ability to spend. In order to progress in this game, you will need to spend hundreds of dollars. Don’t be fooled by the “play for free” claims. With the latest update, the developer has substantially increased the difficulty to grow unless you pay large sums of money. In addition, bugs significantly detract from the playability. Players wait weeks or months for bug fixes or for the game to be “rebalanced”. Meanwhile, the in-game assets you purchased last month are rendered totally useless by new assets introduced this month. Technical support takes forever to respond. Many veteran players are leaving this game and I do not recommend anyone start playing unless you have several thousand dollars to spend. Any company needs to make money to keep operating; Kixeye has become greedy.

Decent Knock-off of Command & Conquer

Command & Conquer with a Clash of Clans feel. The game has potential to be great beyond one over-arching flaw. There is no ability to permanently disable the so-called “AI” that likes to assume command of your units and run them into their death. Albeit you can disable this function, be aware it is on at the start of every battle and if you click to command all troops at once it will turn itself back on again, only this time you have to click off twice as the first click will actually “turn it on”, though its already on. Game devs take a moment to fix this atrocity and you have the potential for a good game. Oh, and as with all games now, beware that unless you intend to dump a lot of $$$ into the game your base will be frequently destroyed by other players. Fortunately, it’s quick to repair and the only limit to actions are resources you can collect so no sitting idle waiting for that energy bar tick...unless you run out of resources.
