A quality game for DQ fans

This game is much more fun than the other DQ mobile game. High quality character models and localization that DQ fans will appreciate. Energy can be scarce and ranking up is slow. Level up materials are also kind of hard to come by. It’s your basic gacha with paid and free gems. The subscription gets you a faster auto battle speed which is surprisingly handy, especially since skip tickets are not too plentiful either. I wish it came with daily paid gems or something too. Other than that, prices aren’t bad and it’s free of predatory or high pressure micro transactions. Overall, it’s a fun little strategy game that is easy to play free and casual during your spare time, and also fun enough to spend a few hours, and maybe a few dollars, playing the story and powering up your favorite monsters.

A nice game for new players.

I only know dragon quest from the game DRAGON QUEST Of THE STARS and Dragon Quest: Builders 2. After that I looked more into Dragon Quest games, and they seem pretty fun. Yesterday I started playing the game and I got to say it’s really nice! The characters are cute and silly, the graphics are nice, and the game is really generous when it comes to new players and is a nice way for people to get into the Dragon Quest Franchise. The strategic gameplay is nice and rare to find on mobile games too! However...I do have some problems. The reward system is kind of odd, you get your rewards then you have to go to a gift box to claim it which I find quite odd and confusing, and I also don’t get why the 10 summons are so high priced, I personally would suggest it would be 1,000 gems than 3,000. Other than that it’s good!

    LOVE IT!

If your a long time dragon quest fan, this is the game for you c: it reminds me of fire emblem three houses abit with its mechanics, and monster rancher, but it gives me vibes from dragon quest builders 2, im not a big fan of dragon quest two the stars i feel like its missing an element from the original dragon quest games but this one gives you the missing pieces! It even has great cutscenes like the old dragon quest games and artyle, plus i adore the characters and story so far, its better then the dragon quest too the stars one where everyhing feels out of place and all over the place, its hard too get immersed in that one in my opinion, although its not terrible, i dont like that characters or the story that much in that game though. Their abit overly positive and annoying

    Great So Far...

I’ve just started playing today, and my first impressions are positive! I didn’t want to miss the free Slime King, and the game has been fairly generous for a starting player so far. Including a chance to re-roll for a chance at an S-rank Killing Machine, etc. And I ended up settling for two S-ranks and 2 A-ranks among others. So far so good. Hopefully this game has a long life ahead of it. I was a big fan of Mobius Final Fantasy, and that game’s global version was sadly discontinued. So I am a little wary of any new Square Enix mobile titles. Cautiously optimistic is probably the best way to describe it. But here’s to a good launch of a great game!

This Dragon Quest hit me harder than a Giga-Gash!

So far all I can say is AWWWWW YEAH! This game reminds of Dragon Quest Monsters! I loved being able to be the monsters and demons and enemies in those games and similar to Dragon Quest 8! I kinda enjoyed Dragon Quest of the Stars, but this one is waaaaaay more fun. Reminds me of Fire Emblem a little bit, but again, I like the whole of Dragon Quest series more than Fire Emblem. This game is fun because I like the grid-based movement and strategy. I can’t wait to get farther in this game. Please keep it fun and entertaining! Any person out there that even slightly enjoys RPGs, Dragon Quest, and having fun should download TODAY!!!!

    Don’t listen to the whiners

This game visually speaking is simple and that’s what makes it beautiful. A beloved franchise and artist still here decades later for those who wanna see this franchise thrive. Complaints about micro transactions are kinda getting old. Just don’t buy them. You can play without it, and as far as the energy system goes, I’ve always seen that as a good thing. It ensures that I don’t waste to much time on it and leaves me excited for what I’ll do later once I have more energy for missions. In all this is a blast to play through out the day.

    Play Responsibly

Dragon Quest Tactics. Need I say more?? It follows suit with all other DQ game series from the core storylines. In addition to this it has added in features to where you have a random percentage to pull rates. So when you have purchase options for you please be responsible enough not to blow your entire paycheck. Also one of the reviews mentioned this was a great alternative for your commute to work. Ugh yeah! No!! Please do not play and drive at the same time. Huge mistake to be taking your eyes off the road.

    Great game

If you like the DQ series, try it, just don’t expect miracles (or even ok luck) at scouting for new mons. Even the second best tier (A) is brutal to get, let alone S tier. Luckily free crystals are plentiful (at the start) so save them until you feel ready to fill a team. Also, the energy is syrup on a slow day. Like 5 minutes for 1 energy and when a single story run costs 12.....I mean come on. Other than that it really is entertaining for the DQ series 👍 PSA: They don’t tell you that they have 2 exchange options. One is paid gems and one is free, they aren’t that different and just gives a boost. Devs, if you actually read these, please add a monster-pedia type section so we can see where to get copies of mons without having to search dozens of stages.

Your usual gotcha game (if not worse).

So I’ve been playing the game very day on my lunch break and when I get home. I rather enjoy the tactical gameplay and the characters are actually charming all in their own way. You could even say this game has a Pokémon vibe, but with the DQ enemies. However I have to admit that this games micro-transaction are rather heavy starting off. The rate you earn gems (this games premium currency) feel rather greedy, especially when you compare this to one of Square Enix’s other games, FF Dissidia. In fact that’s the case for a lot of this games aspects. This game even includes the concept that your paid gems won’t give you the same rewards as earned gems. Then there’s the “Passport”, which is this games subscription. Usually we’re use to the aspect of mobile games slowing us down, and offering us experience and gold boosters to speed up the process. However this game took it a step further by legit making the game and animations slower, and then offering us the “Very Fast” option in its monthly subscription “Passport”. I actually enjoy a lot of aspects of this game including the sound track, gameplay, and even charming monsters, but if you’re looking for just a good FREE-TO-PLAY JRPG mobile game, try Square Enix’s other mobile game FF Dissidia, because that one is far more free to play than this one.

    CASH GRAB!

When Dragon Quest Tact released it was fun, the characters were likable and resembled their pst and present forms. It felt you were engaging in nostalgia. However after only being released for two months in the US it’s apparent that Square Enix does what Square Enix always does. It makes their players spend ridiculous amounts of money just to be competitive. Asking players to spend on average $50 a month. The drop rates for acquiring the top tier characters is completely against you. Working hard and grinding levels to build your squad is part of the enjoyment of this game. But those characters can’t get you past certain points unless you BUY the top tier. The opportunities to acquire top tier characters are limited to twenty one days, then oh here you go try again with a completely new character and start all over.

    Good game but

Game if decent, but the reward system is dumb, you claim rewards from missions then got to claim the rewards again from the present tab and have to confirm multiple times, and have to claim rewards after each fight as well. Why not just make the rewards from the fight go directly into the inventory, like the gold. To me that is the main down side to this game. That and load screen times are pretty long. And they need to add info for attacks like which attack is buffed by wis or agility so we know what weapon to equip and what to shoot for. Maybe even add way to remove spells or abilities not just change out the learned ability cause there are some ability that just seems useless. Potentially really great game just needs lots of work. Will see if it improves. But is getting old quick.

    Gotcha!

This game would be so much more playable without the energy system. It adds nothing to the experience and only serves to stand in your way, so that they can drip feed you just enough content to keep you engaged while never leaving you satisfied. Otherwise I’d say it’s pretty cute, but lacks substance. Edit, after only a week of daily playtime I have drained the game of all of it’s content. All that’s left for me to do is daily quests, equipment and skill upgrades all of which are incredibly tedious and unsatisfying. Sometimes an entire day’s worth of work is only enough to upgrade one attack. The tactics never require anything more than a basic rock paper scissors understanding of how the elements work, and if your party is even a little over leveled you can pretty much ignore strategy all together. It would be really nice if the game gave you more rewards for using a team that’s a little under leveled to encourage more tactical play, but there is never a good reason to use anything other than your strongest team, and the auto battle feature makes gameplay totally mindless.

    Don’t buy gems

Decent game, even if it is a straight up reskin of other App Store games that I have tried, like Dungeon Boss with Dragon Quest graphics. However, I decided to go for an in app purchase and they trick you on how many paid gems you really get. There’s a distinction between paid and free gems in this game that I’ve never seen before, and if you purchase gems the bonus gems are considered free and any gems earned through the game are the same. In this way, they keep you from using the paid in game currency (gems) so that you can’t use them for the best items or the best monster draws such as guaranteed Rank S draws since they aren’t paid gems. The most whorish paid currency schemes I’ve ever seen in an App Store game and upon finding it out I immediately uninstalled. Don’t waste your time and money.

    Shame on you Square Enix!!!

I am so sick of these PTW games. This format is the reason these big game companies do not make any real games anymore. I was initially excited for this game because they made it look like it might be more like a real Dragon Quest experience. Sadly, I was wrong once again. Same old crap as always, stamina limits, pay to get characters, etc. This one is really devious about the PTW scheme as it seems like you are getting plenty of the currency needed for getting these items in the games “new launch event”. However, you will soon find out that the gems you get are different from the “paid” gems (which are not given without paying), which are the ones required to actually get anything. Please stop supporting these games so they will stop making them!!!!!!
