A unique card game that rewards fast thinking and execution

This game borrows a lot from MTG, in a good way. The mechanic of battle is new and refreshing. Creatures attack on a timer, and they have different attack speeds. You can play both creatures and spells at anytime, as long as you have enough mana/energy (similar to instant spells in MTG). This is where the unique mechanic of the game comes into play. You have to manage your energy gauge, both your creatures and the opponent’s creatures’ attack meter, and play spells according. Destroying the enemy creature at the last split second right before their attack would connect and save your creature is extremely rewarding, but if you are too slow you can miss it entirely and your creature will die. Execution and timing is huge in this game, which really differentiates itself from the slow pace of other card games. So far, the game hasn’t shown to be too P2W. The class card set, which is free, seems to be powerful enough to make a decent deck for beginners/F2P.

    Really Challenging

This game is probably either really liked or really hated. At first I thought it was going to be like injustice 2 or Mortal Kombat mobile, however it’s not. You can say it’s a slightly good mislead to a card game that’s not so ordinary. The graphics are simple, but captivating. The mechanics are kind of like playing a YuGiOh game with less live action cutscenes, but again, the game is pretty straight forward and a slight tease to Capcom fans. You’d be amazed that majority if not all the original voice actors from the character counter parts are also portraying them in this game. It takes some getting used to with the game being new and all also and the graphics and colors are so distracting, you’d want to disregard the tutorials to just enjoy the background music and the scenery. Verdict: Do not expect this to be the mother of all games, but consider it an interactive puzzle/card/action game that will keep fans both occupied and appreciative of the game’s treasures.

    Great, fun, fast

If you like Capcom, there is something here for you. I’ve never cared for card games before but seeing my favorite characters and the beautiful card art just drew me in. The characters might have been the reason I downloaded it, but I still play it months later because the gameplay hooked me. It’s fast paced and addictive. My only complaints would be: the game is not balanced super well, some hero abilities are slightly OP right now, and deck variety in higher ranks is... a bit low. There’s maybe a handful of different decks that are considered “meta”. Also, the recent addition of hero skins is SKETCH AF in terms of how you obtain them. You have to buy special card packs for the CHANCE of getting a skin and the drop rate for skins is basically criminal. You can spend hundreds on packs and never get a skin. It’s extremely shady and a black mark on an otherwise relatively F2P friendly game.

    Our favorites are here

This game is great so far the mechanics are great in this card game and it is unique. It has flaws (plz buff X in everything) such as bugs that disconnects its players and the meta is about-face damage with rath and purple about flying, resonates, and combos that deal face damage with high mp cost. But I enjoy this game and how you can play your favorite capcom characters, how the developers of this game respect their players, and they want to balance their game to make it better for everyone and not have it be a broken mess that you have to play in certain ways or get lucky with your pulls. This game is fun since it is a card game that is half real-time and turn-based. It has many play styles you can choose from that is based on MTG (magic the gathering) and strategies you can form with your cards. Finally, it has a great community that respects you and wants to help each other be the best

    Great game but!!!

I wondered why they nerfed Nergi’s spike launch but kept powerful hero arts the same like and easy to use like Ryus hado, Chun Li, and Weskers Dark destruction and his special he calls monsters from the grave people are using dreadking and you kill him he just brings him back I find this to be unbalanced seeing as not every hero has a destroy art Nergi use to deal with these art spammers now it takes to long to boost it to get it and the amount of damage you have to do to yourself to use it is crazy there should be a rework to hero arts a closer look to them because hero’s like mega man for example can’t compete with hero’s like wesker who clearly is broken please fix or rework Nergi back to his original form to counter these players like ryu, chun li, and wesker thank you. Hope there’s a fix soon love the game just annoying and down right unfair to play these people.

    Something different

A unique card battler which pits your favorite capcom heroes and villains against each other, the story to me kinda feels like infinity war but with capcom characters which is cool, hopefully they’ll add more capcom characters like vewitful joe, falcon from power stone, Arthur from ghost and goblins and some other classic heroes and villains from capcom’s archives, my only gripe is the issues with network, it takes forever to load, takes me back to the menu, and just takes long to load stuff in general, but besides that this is a very crisp and beautiful card game with all the best characters from capcom’s history displayed with in amazing highly defined art style along with their special moves as well.

    Great game but buggy

I really enjoy this game. I really do. No ptw bull! You can get card packs naturally through doing challenges or raising in the ranks in ranked mode or even just “leveling up” different heroes. However leveling up doesn’t mean you will have an unfair advantage like more health or something. Also setting this game apart is no level ups for cards! So as long as you have the card you want to play it is equal to your opponents of the same kind! What a novel concept! However there is a drawback. Temporary I hope. Three times so far when I get into a really good match that takes longer then two minutes and I was coming back from a potential loss and just as I removed my opponents last line of defense bam! Everything goes haywire. My units won’t attack. My opponent plays no cards. I disconnect and LOSE even though I had more life and was on the verge of winning. That pisses me off so bad :( it even happened to an opponent of mine who was whooping my backside. I won because he or she “disconnected”. Rage inducing I assure you. But given if they fix that or those bugs I will be happy with this game to the point it gets five stars. Oh and if you are the type who likes shelling out hundreds of dollars on card games don’t fret! Even though you can’t gain an unfair advantage you can still collect “foil” cards and even secret cards that are animated! Overall a worthy game.

Overlooked disconnect system keeps this game from being the best card app on the market

This game offers all of the vest aspects of finely tuned online card games of its contemporaries like hearthstone and magic. The artwork and animations are at the pinnacle of Capcom’s style and the reward progression and presentation of those rewards keeps me coming back without fail. One issue that makes the game a bit disappointing, however, is the latency issues that can plague this game’s ranked matches. You can be playing a match that lasts down to the final minute, and whether a network problem occurs or a player ragequits by shutting the app off, both players proceed to lose the match. Games usually have a means to pinpoint what causes these disconnects and acknowledge them in a way that doesn't punish both parties. I sincerely hope Gung Ho and Capcom can adress this issue in a way that doesn’t induce a fear that important rank up matches cant be easily thrown by a fickle connection setup within the game’s matchmaking.

    Mulligan

Great card game. Most of the mechanics are interesting to play around with. A few gimmicks are really strong at the moment like halt. But that happens in all card games, there will be stronger decks than others. Anyway, my main problem with the game is the lack of a mulligan/discard system. Mulligan might not be what the developers have in mind, but there have been quite a few games that even in mostly unit filled decks I get only spells/actions that target friendly units. The way I immediately have to surrender feels really bad. Even if there was a discard system that cost mana so that it would not be broken for fishing for cards, it would make it at least possible to recover from an unplayable starting hand. Otherwise I really love the game, can’t wait to see how it evolves, but I always have a really disappointing game every once and I while that I physically can do nothing to win because of my starting hand and I hope there is some way to fix that.

Calvin Character are Nice I guess?

Fun game, stupid unbalanced. You’ve seen the other reviews: you just face the same cheap combos over and over and there’s not a great deal you can do about it. At a certain point, it means only specific characters with specific cards are actually viable for play. Sure, I could do it too, but the whole draw for me was “oh cool, I can play a card game as Mega Man X!” or “oh neat, I can be Dante!”, but the reality of the situation is that the vast majority of your opponents will be the same character, same cards, same combo, same inability for you to do anything about it. Got all “target friendly” spells in your hand? There’s no mulligan or discard, so you gotta forfeit. Not playing Ryu or spamming spikes with Nergigante? You already lost, don’t bother. Didn’t bring flying? You’re gonna waste a lot of time on the way to that loss. They were pretty generous with the card packs from level up and such, I only ever bought the introductory crystals for the season pass and managed to get a good spread of cards, but you can only level up so much from the missions before you’re left with two unfair missions that force you to create special decks over and over to try and overcome their grossly cheap conditions. Might wanna just come back to this one after they use the early players as game testers a bit more and save yourself the headache.

    TEPPEN!

This is a great card game and it has potential to be even greater. However, what holds this game back is the difficulty of obtaining new cards. Even the daily rewards don’t help as much, at most doing the daily rewards will only give you enough for one pack opening.(also 240 gold is a odd and high number for a pack, maybe 150 or a 100 gold is reasonable for a pack). I suggest giving everyone 3 daily goals each day, instead of 1. Login rewards need to be better as well. 10 souls for each login is abysmal. Either increase the amount of souls you get for daily logins(instead of 10 make it 50 or even 70 souls) or give us 60 gold with souls(keeping it souls at 10)for the daily login; and maybe give us a pack ticket for the last day of the week. I think introducing a more F2P environment can help this game a lot in the future. Furthermore, The Grand Prix is a good idea but it suffers the same problem which is the lackluster rewards. You need to provide incentives for people to keep playing since most people don’t have the time and money to play all day. Again, This is a great card game and it could be even greater.

    Super unbalanced

Now that the honeymoon phase is over I had to redo my review. This game is so unbalanced it’s hard to have fun. You will play against the same negrigante spike launch teams repeatedly. You will play against the same morrigan halt teams repeatedly. Board clearing abilities that are so easy to get set up because half the card of the color set them up. Low cost specials on board clears but high cost on single target specials. Game is full on ridiculous. Not to mention many cards are simply redundant and dumb. 3/5 red card that cost 5mp to summon. Then you also have 3/5 with flight, 3/5 with victory, and 3/5 that gives +1 on summon and the all also cost 5mp.....why even have the basic 3/5???? Game needed more time in the oven and a real beta. It’s only draw at this point is the Capcom characters. I’m a huge Capcom fan but if this does not get a balance patch FAST I think everyone will go back to the games they came from with a lot more thought into them. Hearthstone, MTG, even Elderscrolls...

    Continuous Crashing

Unfortunately, despite it being the first app I installed on the iPad Mini 2 (which I had in a box and only opened since this crashed on my older iPad as well) I still have barely managed to progress past the Morrigan tutorial fight by pausing and unpausing to keep from crashing. Now I’ve reached the third tutorial fight, facing Chun Li and am faced with nearly immediate crashing since the most crash-inducing feature (active response) is used right off the bat. I love having something to satiate my need for Capcom characters and crossovers with so little else on the horizon, but I’m afraid I can’t leave a decent score when I still can’t reach the main menu due to constant mid-game crashing in the tutorials. I’ll most likely keep trying to get lucky and pass the tutorial, as I was able to after about 100(?) tries on the Morrigan encounter, but this fight crashes even sooner and one’s morale certainly takes a hit after the thirtieth crash, or so.. I’ll be looking to up this score if/when a fix arrives, but it certainly is taking its time for an update to fix such a critical failure-point!

One of the most unbalanced game I ever played

I loved this game for a long while and as someone who love card games that support great synergies and great combination this is one of the most unfair games I have played. It makes you want to pay money just so you can get some of the best cards in the game which not only breaks the meta but they keep adding more. Take for example juri juri is a legendary card that when deals damage to the hero will explore for the feng shui engine which not only gives any card that it’s used a increase of damage but gives it where it goes faster to attack, make the card do two attacks at once and when stacks does much more. Rather than nerfing the cards they instead constantly add more and more broken cards where for example the red elements has it where it directly deal 7 damage to the hero once the damage to the oponnents cards stack. This game rewards those that pay money to get the chance to get the best cards in the game but also makes it where it’s unfair for anyone else who doesn’t obtain them.
