Fun game in digital world . Update , bought the portal and then the upgrade track , endless issues but still working with mattel , track drop outs , app not auto populating the track lay out, found to be a fitment issue with portal and booster , might be wise to buy the full kit , don’t know , waiting for replacement parts to a brand new set , so 200$ and 2 months now I finally find the answer to a bug in the game , tried to contact Mattel about it , told to email .... so here I am last resort to get info to developer , in the app , a mission or challenge is the smart track inventor , so if you follow the path , home , track , challenge zone , as stated , go thru the build and race but no credit , there’s the problem , misprint , or misguided address , if you start from home , track , smart track free play , continue , continue , race. , now if the portal at least sees the car it will credit 1 point , ok good , at least we got a work around . Do you need any more info ? Hope it’s fixed in next update
Finally... Digital Hot Wheels!
Great game and lots of fun. My cars arrived today and I successfully scanned them. I read a few reviews where folks where having issues. To be honest, the first one took me a few minutes as I wasn’t sure exactly how to do it. For those reading this, and have an iPhone; tap the car underneath the top of the phone like you would when using your phone at a merchant that accepts NFC payments. Once I figured it out, simple and smooth for the rest of my cars. One comment to the developers; I already started using the app before my cars arrived. I unlocked my Tesla Id car, and I noticed that I now have two of them in my garage. Feedback: for cars scanned in should match up to the cars in my garage that have been unlocked and sync the car information. I will never use the non id car after I get one that is physical. I really don’t want to loose my racing stats. There should be an option to sync and merge the car.
Happy Yet Disappointed
My son and I are awfully disappointed in the performance of this app when it comes to the iPad. We don’t even get a chance to upload an “I’d” car before it instantly shows an error message. He loves the game and the interaction between the track and the “one of a kind” cars but unfortunately he can’t get to even use his special $5 cars. I’m more than happy with the app on my phone. The cars upload quickly and it's a blast. But the tablets just are not working. We’ve tried multiple cars on two different iPads(one is a year old and the other is not even a year old) and we aren’t trying to upload the same car on multiple devices either. Maybe the developers will have an answer and/or a fix here soon. I’ll be happy to change my rating once he can actually fully use his investment. Until then, we’re both just a little disappointed.
Awesome Game!
I enjoy playing this game almost a much as I enjoy playing Need For Speed No Limits as far as mobile games go, even though you have to buy some special track or something to play the other stuff or the Car-Blueprint system, which I very much dislike, I think aside from that I really like this game. One feature that i enjoy is the hot wheels scan thing, so if your out hunting for hot wheels and you find an I’d car then you get a free car, but if you find the chase/ Treasure hunt like i did then it’s pretty much worth buying anyways because it’s a treasure hunt/ chase car. The only other complaint I have about this game is the handling, I know it’s on a track I would still prefer a like swipe down to drift system instead of turn to drift. Other then that I really enjoy this game
#1 BEST MATTEL GAME!!!!!
This game really made me a lot of fun that I still pretty enjoy playing and every one of you did a great job make an excellent game! We finally have the app from Mattel that is worth a lot of fun to everyone. Race Off and some other older games from you guys created it was a total rip off and boring. But now we have the #1 game from Mattel! Because of amazing graphics, cars, and the most gameplay itself! And this game is really insane and definitely worth playing this app! I’m so happy all of you made this game worth it. You guys did the amazing job! And we do hope Infinite Loop and any other games from you guys hope doing the excellent job, like this game! Thank you everyone so much for doing the hard work perfectly for this game!
Stolen Cars
I am a 53yr Hot Wheel lover and collector. Found some Id cars in a flea market in Albuquerque NM and decided to give progress a try and downloaded the app. and the whole concept is fantastic. I love it, however, when returning home to Colorado Springs we went by a few Walmart’s in Pueblo and I brought 2 more Id cars one of which, when scanned, had miles already on it races and all. Walmart had sold me a stolen/used car. I guess people are STEALING the digital copies in the stores by scanning the codes. This is discouraging. Hope Hot Wheels finds a way to stop these thieves. However, I do like being able to scan the card/box without opening it. May move Id cars to electronic section lock boxes.
Great game, but...
Been playing and collecting for a few months now and it’s a great game - lots of fun and reasons to keep coming back! The “rubber banding” has always been a strong influence for the opponent of this game (only way a power rating 90 opponent can keep up with a PR 2000 ID car?), but since the last update it gets really ridiculous in certain races. Races I’ve been consistently able to win against an opponent of the same PR are now randomly impossible to win, with the opponent screaming out ahead of you without using turbo in the last few seconds of the race and somehow you can’t catch up despite being able to easily catch them earlier even when they had used a turbo... on a perfect run too, no hitting the walls or missed boosts, etc.. Seems like they purposefully unbalanced the power levels, maybe so gamers didn’t get used to winning all the time? Still a fun game, but it’s becoming frustrating, especially in the Valentine’s Day pack when you play opportunity is limited by the amount of “juice” your car has, to have a noticeable lead on your opponent only for them to cruise ahead and beat you like it was the easiest thing in the world.
Not enough tracks!
Honestly, I think that just having city is boring, especially since it’s always the same track over and over. I think you should have more modes that u don’t need the smart track in bec the smart track cost a lot. I think there should also be more ways to earn season cars then just buying them. Glitching our 24/7 has been a problem ever since I updated this. I don’t have any other S class drift cars other than the Tesla, and tha vehicle is hard to lvl up because the rewards are too low. I also don’t have the ID car, so I only have a little juice. I KEEP LAGGING OUT, CAUSING ME TO LOSE JUICE! Make it so that if it notices you aren’t on when the race starts, it will automatically forfeit and keep the juice you already had. I own well over a hundred hot wheels in the physical world. I mean sure, a lot of them are older and are hard to find in stores, but y’all need to have a lot more hot wheels inside the game. Other than these problems, the game is good, but needs stuff other than the city. Like, bring in off-roading cars for an “off-road” track.
*lobby music plays for 10 hours*
I picked up one of these hot wheel id cars, and I downloaded the game and liked it. The game is pretty good, other than the juice mechanic. I was getting addicted to this game but had to wait 49 minutes for one of my cars to refuel. I logged in the app again and saw the usual “Mattel” logo in the start of loading the app. It then transitioned into the words Hot Wheels ID with an Orange background. The regular music was playing, but it wouldn’t load. It kept on playing the song over and over again, still on the Hot Wheels ID loading screen. It does not load, and I’ve tried shutting down my phone, seeing if the app needed an update, and clearing cashe. I loaded in the app again, but was met with the same problem. Does anyone else have this problem? It’s really annoying and I want to play the game again but I can’t with the problem that I have.
5stars to 0stars to 4stars
Roller coasters exist with not only with the cars driving in the game but dealing w Mattel. I have 18physical and nearly 100 digital cars the track and collect hot wheels in general. A lot. The game started great. I enjoyed playing it to Completion. Then continued to collect cars. Aka Mattel came up w a great way to experience Hotwheels and for me to spend probably more on this game than any other. And engage in my physical car collecting. And I didn’t mind. Then someone decided to lock the game down ignoring a working model for player/collectors. The game became clearly a tool for Mattel cash only. Mattel may have awoken to this and realized their error. It’s hard to go from 5 stars to zero then give them back 5 again. Let’s see if they fix the game play back to prior to this last update. I’m writing this review to them more than other players.
Juice
I understand the fuel mechanic in most free games, it's a way for a company to make money. As a life long hot wheel collector, I decided to try these new ID cars and see what's so fancy about it. $5 is a pretty decent amount of change for a hot wheel of such bad build quality, but that's not why I bought it. I wanted to play the game included with it, what a cool concept. The game itself is a decent game, good enough for passing time in a waiting room, but its really nothing special, if not a bit underwhelming, but after getting through the tutorial, I found one very bad issue. I'm paying for fuel on a physical car I paid real world money for. This is like buying a game for your xbox to learn you didn't actually buy a game, just access to the game. I spent my 8 bits of juice in about 5 minutes, and was greeted with a hour long timer. Who came up with this? If I was a kid and was met with that, I'd throw a fit. Why would you make a mechanic that teases your customers lime this, knowing your customers are mainly children who don't understand the point of a pay to win mechanic on a toy they have in their hands... Terrible idea. I was considering collecting all these ID cars for my collection, but not after this. They aren't worth it, and this game is hardly worth the effort.
Fair Game, Poor Support
I downloaded this game to track my collection of cars. It is a cool concept to be able to play with virtual versions of the cars without opening them. I also bought the track so I could play with my son. The app is fairly simple in terms of racing ability. There are weekly challenges that allow you to earn more cars, but they are the same week after week. It got to the point where I was not playing much. They released an update a few weeks ago. You now have car specific challenges and daily events. It got my interest up, so I ordered the cars to play it. Before the cars arrived I started getting an invalid token error. I contacted support, but the only thing they could suggest was to uninstall the game. Since there is no way to login, there is no way to restore game progress. In fact, I don’t know how game progress will transfer to a new device. You can’t login or create your own user name in this game. Overall, the game is fun for passing time, but I would it count on being able to save your data.
Good but not great and definitely not perfect
The game is nice, smooth, and always motion going on to keep me from getting bored. There just aren’t arrows to drive over like hot wheels on Nintendo 64, the track is realistic and nice but to have an option to race on a bigger less realistic track with more people would be nice. I can definitely see myself getting the better/faster cars without having to buy tokens or watch advertising, which is nice so I’m definitely happy to buy in game purchases just because I know the game is great already. The only drawback in gameplay is the balance of power. I can have a really fast 300 “pr” ,instead of horsepower, car and race a 10 “pr” car and that car will still keep up with me, doesn’t make sense but it’s not entirely enough to make me 1 star this game, so that’s why I gave the game 3 stars
Not Worth It Rip Off
When I first saw this product I was pretty impressed, I thought this would be a cool way to play with my brothers I bought three ID cars unknowingly that you actually need a race portal which costs almost $20 I was not going to pay that money for a simple game this was getting way to complicated. plus like I said this was meant to something fun and simple to play with and you have to play like $25 in total. And if you were to buy the portal and the cars the game is pretty boring I mean there’s nothing special it’s a regular racing game the controls are weird and gets boring fast. Now there is a better option you can buy a kit and it will give you a racing track and some cars and the portal now this is actually fun until you see the price tag OVER $100 for most options. You can get some cheaper models but still those cost $50+ NOT FOR ME. Probably make a good Christmas or birthday gift for a hot wheels fan but for that money I would just give up and find something else.
