    Stole my platinum

For the most part, the game works well and who ever made it should be proud of their accomplishment. I like the game, obviously, or I wouldn't be playing it. I think the designers should understand that some of the players will never gamble, and at some point, stop asking. It is a annoying waste if time. Some of the challenges take too long. It had one glitch with me, when I completed the platinum level, it returned me to the beginning of platinum again, instead of moving on to the next level. Very disappointing! If it happens again, I won't continue playing the game! I have to say, I’m disappointed I received no response to my first review, but with that said, the games just seem to go on indefinitely, so I guess I’ve just resigned to keep on playing like there aren’t any levels to it. The only thing I have ascertained is that the computer doesn’t allow as many counting mistakes to mug the further I play on.

    Great cribbage challenge

The little “gifts” a person can win and the various challenges to aim for make the game really a bit more fun. I have enjoyed the board - and the comparison charts. I think the creators might consider making a learning portion where the computer could suggest the players chest choices of cards to keep or discard - so more people could easier learn the various tactics and card couplings combinations. Play is rather straightforward but there are lots of commercials - but hey - the game is free to play - and fun. I’ve lost some of my challenges winnings by leaving the game, and have been bumped off a couple games, I was easily winning with a crash - that took golden hands, and abilities to double away as if I’d quit the game in the middle. I think if a person has completed a challenge they should be able to carry and build up their rewards.

    A good Cribbage game

As far as cribbage games go, the computer doesn’t cheat as much as some of the other cribbage apps I’ve played. I’ve read a few reviews complaining about auto count. You can turn it off when you are in the panel that has the different levels. It’s on the left hand side. I wish they could develop a game that didn’t force me to play differently than I would in real life. The far too frequent mirroring of my hands, and the softwares overwhelming ability to pick the low card to win the first crib make the game less fun. And the ads ... I can live with the ad at the beginning, but if I have to close the game and come back later, I get another ad. Boo. Could someone please explain the purpose of XP’s, and where you see how many you’ve accumulated?

    Great cribbage game

I love that it does the counting and pegging and plays by the real rules. I also don’t have to hear my mother-in-law’s asinine comments when playing. I took off a star because it gives you the option to cheat- undo, improve your hand, score double. These are rewards you can choose, except they make you choose it sometimes to pass the daily challenge. I then can’t count that game as valid because I didn’t win fairly. I paid for the ads to not be present, which was a great time saver for me. It also has improved my game. I’m now more aware of all aspects of the game, and it has given me strategies for playing.

    Hooked and loving it

Great way to learn how to count your hands, and fun. Not necessarily pay to play, which I appreciate. Yes, you have to live through the ads, but this is a LOT more fun than solitaire...Beware updates. Now all of a sudden I have trouble accessing the plutonium level game. Platinum etc. all easy to play. Some kind of an enforced waiting time it seems like? Trying to make be buy coins, maybe? ***problem has resolved itself it seems. Back to enjoying the game, hoping they implement some of the changes they asked about. ***New challenges daily and a different layout. I like it!

    Just like the real game!

Are used to play the board game cribbage all the time and enjoyed it. But it got cumbersome. The electronic game give you all the joy of the game without having to carry around the board in the little pegs that you could lose. Polished game, frustrating gimmicks

I love playing cribbage and have downloaded this app a few times off and on over the years. It includes some really interesting mechanics, like the daily challenges and level-up mechanics. The power ups are a nice option too, though i typically avoid using them. I am also pretty impressed with the overall polish of the game. It definitely plays like a well-designed experience. However, there is no doubt that, at some point in the difficulty scaling, the computer just starts to get better hands instead of playing better cribbage. I noticed this particularly during the Platinum levels, where the computer seemed like they averaged 12 points a hand. It started to seem like the only way to offset their ability to always have great cards was to use the power ups, which isn’t the game of cribbage I wanted to play in the first place. It felt like I went from playing cribbage to watching ads so I could watch the cribbage cards I bought beat the cribbage cards the computer gave itself.

Good Challenges BUT Need to add New Dimensions

While I prefer the gameplay, customization, and interface of some of the other apps; the challenges that Ultimate Cribbage offers, provides a unique extra inclusion which has me coming back every day. However, once I have completed both challenges for the day I typically opt for a different format from some of the other cribbage apps. If Ultimate Cribbage incorporated more customization, provided explanations for the alternate game modules (Muggins & Shotgun) to make it easier for players to make decisions in regard to the use of their rewards, provided statistical analysis and/or hints and help features, and AUTOMATICALLY SORTED HANDS IN INCREASING ORDER rather than randomly it would easily become the best cribbage app out there, but until that time, the mere inclusion of challenges and rewards certainly is keeping Ultimate Cribbage in the top tier of the competition.

    Learning and enjoying.

A pretty card player suggested playing the real game but it was difficult to learn with actual cards. Picked up this game on my phone and I’ve been learning the ins and outs. It’s fun and addictive. Worth adding it to your collection if your a card playing fool like me. Couple suggestions to the developers... I wish you would show how I got my points after a hand or at least when you add them up give me the chance to figure it out. You only show it for a couple seconds and the final scoring board (with a ok) doesn’t show the heads so I can try and figure it out. For example, I thought I had 8 points in my hand but scored 18. How the f did I do that? Great game.

    Polished, well done overall, but...

The level of ad intrusiveness for a “free” app is on the high side. The number of daily “challenges” like “use 3 power ups” is basically “give us as money, but also buy power ups too”. Maybe a few more “do cribbage things that don’t require a credit card” would benefit repeat play. Frankly, there are less ham-fisted ways to entice fans into throwing a few bucks at the app here and there; the way this app tries to do so is off-putting. Finally, the “level progression” is exponential. To achieve the first few ranks, it’s like... a day, a couple days, a few days, ... but then it’s a week, a month, a year, then at platinum it’s “the rest of your life! ... unless you buy that rank. Click here to shop!” Lame. Just clumsy. But as a cribbage app, if you can stand the constant begging... totally fun and well done; probably the most well executed cribbage app on iOS that I have played. I just turn the volume off and pee during the all too frequently forced ads. YMMV. Worth a look, though. Every day, when I open it and see a daily challenge that requires purchases to achieve, I close it and wait more days to even bother to play again.

    Volume with ads!

Multiple very long ads appear during a single game and the volume button is non existent or very difficult to find. It requires clicking on the ad multiple times to turn the volume off for a second. I’m sure they’re getting multiple clicks on the ads to their benefit. Also, if you look at the cards after a game, you’ll see that the computer makes many decisions that cost them multiple points. You may think you’re doing well but you wouldn’t beat a player who was in the same level as you. At this point, I still play the game but often close it during the ads because they probably extend the game by 10 minutes.

    Lucky, too lucky

I played the original cribbage from these guys (you can check out my review of that) and this one is more of the same, just a little more polished. The pros: new look, fun stats shown between hands and games (or at least fun to me, how many points from pegging, etc.) the cons: a ridiculous amount of long ads that you cannot skip. And not just before the first game, between every game. The angles 3/4 view interface is awkward to look at and adds a 3D feel that's unnecessary. They're cards guys. Cards are flat, let it go. The AI is stupidly lucky at higher difficulties. Once you're in Gold mode or above, the game, quite simply, cheats. Insane hands and cribs not to mention god-like pegging skills. I'm guessing this is to encourage you to buy golden hands and power ups but honestly why would you? I just want to play cribbage. It's a simple game but it does require strategy to play well. Keep the bells and whistles over in the slot machine games. This is a card game, it doesn't have to be glitzy or slick it just needs to feel fun. This one doesn't.

    Rigged at End of Levels

I have now played the game for months and give it a fair review. I have played cribbage for years and thought this would be a good spare time app. What I have noticed particularly in the last two levels that if you have done too well against that level, it will roll off a lot of wins against you in a row toward the end of that level to justify it being harder or more challenging level than the previous one. I would love this app and rate it high even with the ads that start each level if were not for that. There is also a tendency for it to prompt you to discard two cards for the crib (because of the hand you are left with) and it happens to hit big during those times. These occur usually at end of the levels when all your gains are erased with it’s streak. Would love it if they remove that algorithm.

    AI cheats

The AI cheats. It literally gets a 5 every hand with multiple face cards. Also seems to almost always get the exact cut card it needs. Consistently scoring 20+ points in the hand against me. Just not statistically possible for it to score like that. The pegging is just comical that the AI has just the right card every time and manages to get 31 roughly half the time. When it’s my crib, my cards are crap half the time. When it’s the AI’s crib, I magically have a decent hand that I now have to break up. On top of that, the cards the AI discards seem to match up so well with what I discarded...then you add in the cut card and well, I’ve never seen so many hands and cribs that are 15+ points each. It’s basically impossible to win when the AI averages such a high score against your measly 6 points. I really enjoyed this game at first but it’s become a joke of a game.
