AT LEAST YOU ARE NOT BREAKING MY WALLET !
Great game , you definitely spent quite a bit of time setting it up and the graphics are fantastic ! I do not mind spending a few bucks here and there to help you recover and pay for your time but some of these programmers want to make their money back over night and break my wallet and take all of the fun out of the game in one swipe ! Again , great game , thank you and hope you have another in the future !
Great game
Fun game, beautiful graphics, and sure the energy could be better, but it’s way better than most apps—I find I can play for free for longer than most. My only complaints are what some others said: there is a lot going on, so sometimes you don’t know where to go next, and if you open one that’s suggested, you do run out of energy before you can, say, fill orders at the pier, etc. Also better zoom would help, as some objects are hard to see. Other than that, fantastic game! Downloaded after I ran out of Murder In the Alps episodes (still like that one better).
What? A limit on the energy bar?
The most recent update (Oct 2020) has limited the energy bar. I’m will not continue with that limitation. What’s the point of double energy and the exciting prize of 2000 energy that a player occasionally wins from the ship? I have spent money because up to this point I have considered the developers efforts should be compensated. I’ll keep an eye on it for a little while, but if this energy limitation continues, I will delete the game.
Enjoyed the challenges until...
I really enjoy the story line and the puzzles and challenges but after about 10 days of playing adds for others games pop up every time I complete a challenge. It’s frustrating. Also, I’ve noticed that several found items have disappeared from my collections. I thought I was mistaken so I took screen shots and when the next time I played they were gone.
Several issues ruin the fun
1) amount of energy required to play each scene is ridiculous, you can only do three puzzles or games at a sitting 2) it's buggy; for instance I just now had to close the gems puzzle as the game didn't detect there were no available moves and did not trigger a reset, even though I had five moves left 2a) crashes with some frequency, meaning you lose a lot of energy (see point 1) 3) I don't mind watching ads to get more time or moves, in fact they are mostly entertaining in themselves, but the ads are frequently buggy also; and don't make me watch an ad AFTER I completed a puzzle, it just makes me angry 4) I hate hate HATE their morphing mode; each morph takes too much time, and the item jumps around the screen, simply annoying 5 the microtransactions are too expensive. I might give you a buck or two at a time but 10$? Forget you. Having said all that, this is the best and most interesting of this type of game I've ever played. Good visuals, a story line you can follow, better by far than Seekers Notes or Midnight Castle. And you can actually see the items in the scenes. I would give it 5 stars except for my above-mentioned notes--that's how aggravating the problem areas are.
Better Story, Mechanics Need Work
They positively cram in the ads, which would be less annoying if a significant percentage of those ads didn’t fail, forcing you to close and reopen the app (which takes an unusually long time). The artwork is lovely, the variation in the scenes is good, and the story is fun, but your progression slows exponentially (even after a few days) so that you only get to play 2-3 puzzles per session, you don’t make progress with every puzzle you solve, and you soon find that they’re stingy with the energy (if you level up, it restocks your energy to full and no more, regardless of your energy condition, so you may only get a few points; they never allow for surplus, as most other games do). I bet they lose most of their users to frustration and boredom within a few weeks.
Enjoy the game
I have been playing a few weeks now and have not seen the glitches others describe. Personally I would play more but I don’t like having to watch a timer constantly. The reason I play games is to relax. Of course you use up your energy quickly because the games are so short and cost so much to play. An interesting game to play overall and you don’t have to invest your life savings in order to move forward in your quests. Regeneration of energy is MUCH better than other games by this company. They also have a better game called Murder in the Alps, but the only thing that takes longer than energy regeneration in that game is release of new chapters/game content. At least this game will take me a while to complete the available chapters.
Fun HO but needs work
Please, please add a zoom feature. When you’re a 20-something year-old game programmer, you might scoff at needing a zoom function. Just you wait, you young whippersnappers. One day, you (hopefully) will be middle-aged, too. Also, some of us HO players think that if an HO scene’s difficulty is driven mainly by making the objects small, the designer didn’t take enough time to truly develop the HO scene. You can hide objects without making them tiny. This element really is affecting my enjoyment of the game (more so than the energy/money-making parts, which at this point I’m pretty anesthetized towards). Thanks!
Too much time wasted
The game is fun. However, the reason I rate it so low is - 1. It takes an unreasonable amount of energy to do anything. 2. Watching a 30 second ad for an additional 30 seconds of play time makes solving a complex puzzle incredibly frustrating. In some cases just undoing your previous attempt takes the entire 30 seconds you earned by watching the ad. 3. Amulets are too expensive and they are the only way to make play bearable. 4. Energy does not replenish quickly enough to make it worth waiting around. 5. The game is kinda buggy - claims my network is down, but everyone in the house is on it and they’re fine, game reloads at unexpected times, and energy doesn’t always refresh at all when the game is not being played. I’m quickly losing interest in the game because there is nothing to do in between the hours when the energy is replenishing.
Enjoyable except that it is not fair!!!!!
Loved the game—at first. Even spent money more than once—until I noticed that I could play a scene and not receive any of the rewards I was playing for—-repeatedly. I do not like to plunk down several dollars only to successfully complete several parts of a quest and receive nothing for my efforts. Oh, it will hook you all right. I love hidden object. But the developers are a bit too greedy for my taste. I can understand not getting anything when you fail—but not to be able to advance the game when you are repeatedly successful is unfair to the customer. Hey guys, you catch a lot more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. You owe me several dollars!!!
Stay away!!! The game will steal your money and they don’t care.
Overall the game is quite good, but it experienced a pretty significant glitch in me and after 3 days since I contacted support - no response other than the automated message that the ticket was received. I had spent over 2 hours progressing in the game, spent $100 in in-app purchases to make my progress and advanced through timed challenges and made progress against those. I logged out for about an hour to get some work done and when I came back, all my progress had been lost and I was back to where I started that morning. I was still charged for the in-app purchases I made and even all the progress I made in the timed challenge game was completely gone. I was furious. I submitted a ticket and am still waiting for a response - meanwhile the timed challenge game is ending soon and I’m not playing anything else because I’m hoping they’re able to restore my progress. At this point, it’s too late. I will be contacting my bank and Apple directly to demand refunds for what I wasted on this game and won’t touch it again. It’s unfortunate because it is a good game but none of that matters if you essentially steal my money.
Fix it!
The game is pretty good when it’s working. Could be less money grabbing, gets in your face a bit much. Really, the game is addictive enough that they could back off and probably make more money bc more would play. Some scenes are a bit dark, which I don’t enjoy, I much prefer the brighter ones. My main issue, and why I gave one star, is that their server can’t handle the volume of players, especially when events are going. Been getting the server is not responding try again in 15 min for over a day now. Got one scene in this morning, thought yay it’s fixed... but no, back to the message. Glad I didn’t activate an amulet! The problem is definitely on their end, and many others have reported the same issue. Support just sends automated replies, so far no actual response. Finger hovering over the delete button...
Do not do it.
Honestly I loved this game so much. But they actually rip you off and steal from you. I’ve paid for gems to get energy or do the little tournaments. the last few weeks the game just shuts off and then removes the tournaments that you already gave gems for (gems that I actually bought) and they don’t replace them. And even the regular games if I press pause to answer the phone or reply to a text , it kicks me off and restarts and again does not replace the energy I had already used to be in that games buildings. I have sent them messages and all they have done was just resend my own message to myself w no response. It’s literally a scam. And it’s not worth it.
Update makes it unplayable
The game itself is very enjoyable but, like a lot of the reviews, you don’t get much in the way of energy to play. Plus there are times during a game you need to get additional tries or time so you would have to watch an ad for 5-15 seconds before trying again. Now - with their NEW & IMPROVED UPDATE - between every game (and if you need additional time) you get a minute long advert. Sorry Nordcurrent - I’m finished with your game. Your greed for longer advertising or more user purchases just cost you a player. Hopefully you won’t make this same idiotic move with the next chapters of Murder In The Alps release.
