Great overall but has a few balancing issues

I have been with this game for over a year and a half now (joined at rage of bahamut) at first like many players I got destroyed, but I started to get the feel of it as I played more and more. The game itself is very fun and gives you a huge range of cards and architectures to try! I've noticed that as the time progressed and new card expansions released that many cards are now broken. Usually they are fixed quite quickly but now things such as reanimate plague ranked matches and are pretty much instant death. Other balancing issues stem from the fact that most of the new card expansions release weaker cards that rage of bahamut and the older expansions, making the top decks very expensive. At the time you could buy one legendary and decimate the board but now you may need to buy 3 of à legends for the same effectiveness ( likes of protobahamut). Over all I love this game and would recommend it to any card game players out their! Just be ready to dedicate some time in order to get used to the mechanics. Now my account has been deleted and I can't claim it back so pls help It’s been 3 months and customer service refuses to talk to me which really annoys me as I spent money on this game and now I can’t get my account back

    I’ve never been so hooked

Shadowverse honestly doesn’t get as much praise as it really should, the amount of cards, options, strategies, and outcomes is amazing to me. I’ve looked for a game that visually looks amazing (except a few attack animations that can be touched upon) and feels true to a card strategy to me, I honestly made a new account on my phone maybe a month and a half ago? And I have enough cards to make quite a few decks deemed as tier 1 or at least 2, they give away so much packs and allow me to never feel I need to pay for cards, thanks shadowverse and I can honestly say I’m as excited as can be for the future (2018) You guys have done it I swear, this expansion brought every bit of the old magic in a new light and man it’s amazing, still as generous as can be and now even more fun, keep this new mentality, new ways to play, unique cards that can help others and supply their own, thanks Cygames, keep up the amazing work

    Best ccg

Dont listen to the people voting one star, unless you’re a complete incompetent card player this game will do nothing but reward you. It’s fairly easy to start of in the beginning if you just take your time to try out all the classes so you know some basics about everyone, then try to find a class you like, sword and dragon are really good for beginners. Also, you do not have to spend a dime to get places in this game. I’m master on both rotation and unlimited, and I haven’t really payed for any cards, well except for the forest deck from first set because I wanted the foiled version of a legendary. But asides from that the game does award you with so many boosters from time to time, and there’s even a score based system that gives you rewards when ever you play ranked, so expect a lot of goodies, also you get a lot of gold from just doing the single player stuff once as well.

    Best mobile card game

This game has high quality graphics/art, it’s got a decent back story to each character and very good voice over on each cards. Also the game mechanics are well built and engineered to a “balanced” gameplay for each character (unless you got countered matchup) and it gives you enough free card draws from events and daily missions that you can make a fairly decent deck to win games. So This game is very well made. If you haven’t win any games after playing a year and you think this game is at fault, you should start looking for games that require less problem solving skills like racing games or hack and slash. But even if you are bad at making a good deck, there is pre built decks you can copy in game for free or you can just buy. Plus there is more than a dozen sites online where you can look up “in meta” deck that was used in tournaments it also shows you the win rate of each deck too so really no excuse to not have fun with this game if you are into turn base card games. I got this game for about two years and I have made bunch of fun decks and copied off a fair amount of tournament decks from pro players and the results are really rewarding when you winning rank games because you copied someone else’s deck online I mean it’s just a great game! A+++++++ must have!

    The Most Generous CCG

Ive been playing Shadowverse for several years now, while also having playing many other CCGs on and off. There are some that are quite stingy and make it hard to progress your collection or make any decks without investing some real money (Hearthstone and Magic: the Gathering come to mind.) Others shower you with rewards for regular play, but usually make it almost impossible to get any nice cosmetics without coughing up (Gwent and Legends of Runeterra come to mind.) Shadowverse rewards regular play by making it trivial to create at least one or two meta decks, and easy to make even more than that with dedicated play. They also gate some cosmetics completely behind real money, but make most attainable through significant time invested. Nearly all sleeves and emblems can be obtained this way, and loads of cool leaders are available via the gacha style card packs, but with a pity counter. On top of the generous monetization it is simply a fun card game with some unique mechanics and a focus on game-warping permanent passive effects. The evolution system does some work to balance the advantage for going first that so many card games struggle with. I highly recommend giving it a shot. Focus on Unlimited at the beginning as it is easier to complete decks.

    Love this game.

Despite of what the last guy said all is true but at the same time...ITS CALLED A STRATEGY GAME FOR A REASON. So if you are complaining about a well put together game that gives away massive amounts of card pack so no one(not even new players) gets left behind. For PvP, pick a craft and stick to it. Learn how to build decks. There are plenty of ways to learn online. Once you get everything down and you start winning, just remember.... it’s the heart of the cards and how you play them because there are some bronze cards out there that are extremely OP that can take down a high player point card in a blink of an eye. Ignore that last guy. He didn’t even give the game a chance. There is a reason this is the number 1 CCG on the planet. If I can win a PvP match with one of the default decks, anyone can.

    Well done F2P-friendly CCG

This game is a lot like what you would get if Hearthstone wasn’t so pay-to-win and had the anime turned up to a billion. It uses combat mechanics very similar to Hearthstone (as opposed to the Magic: The Gathering style combat) meaning you get an extra power every turn, you choose what to attack, etc. (you can also evolve cards after a certain number of turns to make them a lot stronger, I don't know if this is in Hearthstone though) I haven't actually played this game much because I prefer the MTG combat system. (if you do too, go check out Eternal Card Game) However, from what I have played, it seems pretty well balanced and fun. The art and sounds are done well, the cards feel nice, animations are good, the whole thing is just well done.

    Not balanced

So I’m not a professional reviewer or anything, but I’ll try my best to say this as unbiased as I can. The game is really fun, the story dialogue is skipable, but that’s ok because you just want to play against the a.i. The pvp is another matter though. There’s two ways to play, with the current meta cards, or in the un ranked where anything goes. I saw a video of a YouTuber saying this same thing, the game feels like you can’t play what you want to play, you’re forced to go with the current decks, or you’re just going to get rocked. It’s really not that fun when your opponent can just play a card and be like, “well I win now”. The graphics and designs are great, 5/5, but I just don’t find enjoyment in playing against other people when I see that I’m losing because they have busted decks. I’ve had loses against certain decks where I’m like, “wow, props to you man, I’ll take the L because that was just awesome”. But now... It’s not a game worth spending money on imo. Save yourself the mental discouragement and don’t get too involved in this game. Enjoy it for the nice card game it is, have fun with the story mode, maybe see if you can find friends to play with. Just be warry of the random pvp, be prepared for unbalanced games most of the time.

    Prepare for Rage

I've been playing shadowverse for years now at this point, having gone through the 4th expansion all the way up until now. Theres a lot to take in at first but any hearthstone players will have relative ease jumping into this game, however this isn't the issue. Immediately after playing your first hard or higher rated bot you realize how broken specific cards and classes are, and it's way worse in PVP BY A LONG SHOT. There's huge problems with balancing with cards, and if you dont have any of those meta cards/decks that everyone copies and pastes then you shouldn't play ranked. Which is extremely annoying. Imagine playing against the same 3 broken decks every ranked match where you have literally no chance to even try your deck because of stupid effects that aren't able to be removed or countered in any way. Put it this way, the amount of turns you can have can go to 10 and technically higher, but in ranked you'd be lucky to make it to 6 or 7 without getting overwhelmed by some pro deck that some kid copied and made after dumping some cash into the game. besides all that its a fun game haha.

If you can’t come up with a strategy, you’ve already lost in the game.

I played this game around two to three years ago. Loved it, but I stopped playing because I couldn’t win. I come back and I think the game is more unbalanced than ever before. If you are playing runecraft and havencraft, congratulations, you’ve already won. Those two classes are so unbalanced if you use the strategy of “spellboost ur cards, use that Kuron card, and then use dimension shift.” And “Have your whole team heal you and have Elana’s Prayer boost your followers up.” respectively. I play swordcraft and it’s probably the deck with little to no unbalanced cards or strategies, so I have to loose every time unless there’s the rare chance that there’s somebody who doesn’t use a strategy. I could rant about all of the other classes, but runecraft and havencraft are the worst ones to play against. This is less of a review and more of a rant on how ridiculous the unbalancing is. Please fix it or make at least swordcraft better.

Good gameplay. Translations not so much

It’s all in the title. The game can be pretty unbalanced at times but that’s to be expected of any card game to some degree. Same with the idea of the game seeming reused or too overwhelming. It’s the type of game for only those who really like tcgs. Not too ostracize beginners, but it can get frustrating at times. By all means new players should come, but be ready for a challenge of wits if your cards aren’t up to par. Moving on, what really myths me in this game is the Japanese to English translations. English is my main language and I can generally understand Japanese orally. Christ, half the time the translations are way off from the actual message or just cuts off the more detailed dialogue and that really frustrates me when a big company like Cygames is doing a worse job than they should be doing. I expect better, but more power to you if you don’t care for the story too much or prefer English. Haven’t tried English voices and don’t plan to.

Win a Year's Supply of Salt!

For a game that's been out for over a year, I find it surprising that the matchups in PvP and PvC (story mode) is so unbalanced. After doing mission 8 in the story mode, it is difficult to win with the default deck. I feel that I should mention that the game gives you a a bit of free packs to work with. However, even with a few gold and legendary cards now if your deck, your chances of winning isn't much better. I decided the logical step would then be to try out PvP. I got thoroughly destroyed. I can tell that the opponent has collected many, many cards and played an equal amount of games from the cards rarity and synergy. Despite having a great draw, in my opinion, I was unable to keep anything on the field for more than the turn they were played. At this point, I called it quits. Aside from the matchup, I find the game's interface to be cluttered, having too many buttons and tabs on the screen at once, as well as redundant, requiring the player to pass through several loading screens. The story is very generic and the translation (I'm playing with Japanese voice acting and English subtitles) is inaccurate at best. As for the "evolve" feature, I feel that it gives the second player too much of an advantage. On top of having one extra use, the second player can "evolve" cards one turn earlier. Coupled with having an extra card drawn at turn one, it's pretty much a curse for me to go first.

Gorgeous and enticing story... but don’t expect to enjoy pvp

So I have to admit the gameplay itself is just not balanced... like at all. From matching you up to someone your same rank. Some deck themes have heavy advantages over others. To the fact that some cards are practically invincible if player. It has some pros. I have drawn legendary cards without spending insane amounts of money. They give plenty of free packs and content to help everyone have a chance to have fun, and its not so much a pay to win Kinda game. But if you plan on doing any pvp prepare to just never win or have fun. I’ve played since the beginning because I loved rage of Bahamut so much. I redoenload this game because the artstyle lives on and it’s beautiful. All pvp types of games like this run into balancing issues. And honestly, if you just stick to computer battles or don’t mind the fact that your pvps will be just extremely unfair you will enjoy the game. Hahaha and honestly I just enjoy collecting and reading the cards and playing the story. But anytime I even think of pvp it takes 3 matches to remind me how unfair the system is. I’m giving one star because honestly at this point they should have balancing solved out a bit more. But other than that like I said. It’s honestly a gorgeous and well made game. Just not fun to play competitively at the moment or with the way things are going in the forseeable future.

!!PURCHASE SCAM: THEY’LL STEAL YOUR MONEY!

I’ll admit the game is absolutely wonderful and intriguing but there are some flaws with purchases as well as maybe their customer service and claims dept. Anyway when I started out I created a deck, but then I ended up wanting to try something new so I started over again. This time I really liked the deck I built. I even bought bought a Portal Craft Structure deck, but upon buying that, they asked if I would like to link my account and override the previous data. I agreed but unfortunately by agreeing to do so they deleted all of my data including my purchase. So, I submitted a help request or a ticket with their website because unfortunately there is no phone number to contact anyone personally. I really thought they would help me but instead their only reply was to tell me that they don’t deal with customers with “multiple” accounts and that they would also not give me my refund despite the fact that I did make a purchase and I did not get my purchase at all. So in short be careful on making your purchase or don’t make any at all and if you do have problems sorry, but no one will help you or fix anything.
