How does it Work?

New ways to play! Play with friends or strangers in online play, or play offline with friends face-to-face!

Exploding Kittens, the most-funded game in Kickstarter history, is now available for iOS.

Created by Elan Lee (Xbox, ARGs), Matthew Inman (The Oatmeal), and Shane Small (Xbox, Marvel).

KEY FEATURES:

- Exploding Kittens is a multiplayer card game for people who are into kittens and explosions and laser beams and sometimes goats.

- Play with 2 to 5 players across multiple phones in the same room, or online with friends or strangers

- All art illustrated by The Oatmeal

- New cards exclusive to the digital version of Exploding Kittens

- The digital version of the most backed game in Kickstarter history

In this highly-strategic, kitty-powered version of Russian Roulette, players draw cards until someone draws an Exploding Kitten, at which point they explode, they are dead, and they are out of the game -- unless that player has a Defuse card, which can defuse the Kitten using things like laser pointers, belly rubs, and catnip sandwiches. All of the other cards in the deck are used to move, mitigate, or avoid the Exploding Kittens.

Exploding Kittens is a paid app in which optional game features may be purchased with real money. You must be at least 13 years old to download and play. There is also an option to compete online against strangers and resulting data transfer charges may apply. Player usernames and expressions are their own. Good But Different

Exploding Kittens is an absolutely great game to play with your friends. Playing with strangers doesn’t get the same kind of feel. And playing alone is just the same thing over and over. The card game I find a wonderful better game. For two particular reasons, The first reason is the lack of cards. The game is missing two cards. The first is the nope card. I love this card and I think it was a main part of the original. With the nope they could have a super nope in one of the expansions that couldn’t be noped again. The second card is the cat cards. Cat cards use to have combos but now they all just steal a card. Now I don’t think a mobile game should have that complexity but maybe the cat cards should have maybe two actions and you can choose which one your cat card is doing. The second thing is the expansions. I think the Barking Kittens And Imploding Kittens expansions would be excellent for the digital game. Also I feel like the game is overall overpriced. I feel like each expansion should only be a dollar. I also think all avatar packs should be a dollar as the science vs religion is cool and all but I mean it’s a slight cosmetic difference. The single player needs improvement maybe more cats to fight that would do unique things like summon a exploding kitten. And custom decks. The last thing is just stuff that they would add like an avatar frame. The game should be updated more frequently.

    Awesome addicting game!

This is an awesome game and very addicting I don’t mind the paying for the game part. The only thing ... if you guys actually do read these lol or care ha I’d say if there was any way maybe you could create a way where u earn avatars for winning a certain about of times or using a a card a certain amount of times. In the beginning I kept playing over and over thinking I’d achieve an unlock an avatar but nothing happen after finally realizing they all had different prices and needed to be purchased. Purchasing Was the only way to get them. If you would like my input I’d say give users like prizes for playing and winning or even just playing it would keep people playing a lot more ! But other than that I really do love the game I do own the board game but nowadays people don’t like sitting dealing with cards and the mess and what not lol so me and my kids and family all play together on our phones when we get together and it’s just as fun if not better! Bathroom breaks u can take ur phone and not annoy everyone else cause they have to stop! Lol love it though thanks guys !!!! A+++++ in my book!!!

    Great Game

I really enjoy this game. It only takes a few minutes to play a round, and while mostly luck of the draw, some strategy does keep you engaged. My favorite thing about this game is that it is straight forward with payment, unlike most games anymore. There are no ads! There are no coins, tokens, etc., to play, you can play all day with the core deck. If you choose to expand, you can pay an up charge for more cards. This is actually pretty clever as it gives you an opportunity to learn the game with some basic cards and then adds some extra options later. You can also pay for different avatars, but again, you don’t have to. When searching for a game, it sometimes asks if you would like to try one of the other decks for free. The only downside to this game is that it is limited to the players online at the time. Sometimes the lobby doesn’t fill up, or when you are playing, players quit. Also, you will be booted if your phone rings mid game. I would like to see the “Nope” card from the card game brought in. I recommend this game!

    Great

This game is really good and definitely worth the cost. I can’t stop playing because each round is unique yet similar. However, I do believe there is room for improvement. The game itself is really fun and addicting but I believe a lot of players would appreciate a progression aspect. For example levels, not even to win things but just to see how much time one has invested in the game. Another thing I would love to see would be a progress tracker, like a tab to see: how many games I have won, how many games I have lost, how many exploding kittens have I drawn, etc. One more thing that needs to be expanded on are Avatars. The avatars are lackluster and basic and while I understand avatars are a very small part I think they are crucial to a player’s identity in the game. All in all, if someone reads this deciding whether or not to buy it... BUY IT! It is totally worth it. While it’s really confusing the first few games once you begin to understand each card and how to utilize them, this game becomes very addicting.

    Awesome Game

This game is awesome, and it definitely captures the essence of the real card game. It has expansion packs available, and it has some custom avatars, which is nice for the people who like that. This game is very fun and most aspects of the original game were implemented, although a few cards have changed names and functions which may confuse new players. The biggest complaint that I have seen among one-star reviews is that they added “Jesus” as a character and that somehow offends their religion. I think that is a stupid reason not to like the game and you don’t have to play as it if you don’t want to. I think those Christians need to grow a pair and learn how to be able to poke fun at their religion too. That reason has nothing to do with the game and honestly it’s good that having Jesus as a character option is the “worst” thing about this game. If you love the exploding kittens card game then I highly recommend it, and I don’t think you will be disappointed.

    Great game

First reason I like this game is that there are no paywalls stopping you from playing just like you would in real life and what I mean by that is you get all the cards that are in the standard addition of exploding kittens and most of the cards that are in the expansion imploding kittens if you pay in this game it's your choice the only things you can buy are extra decks that include cards you get from the party deck an stiff. You can get into a game fast and usually finish a match within 5 minutes or less, some people have talked about cheaters in there reviews but I haven't noticed this at all and I've played like thirty matches already so no complaints from me. One last thing ADS there are none of them all in all the games cheap you get into a match fast and and there are no ads or paywalls. So why are you still reading this? BUY THE GAME

Really good, but I have some suggestions.

This game is really awesome! This is good Because it is real faster then the real card game; the app does everything for you! But some things can improve. When I use a tell the future card, I see a exploding kitten on the top. So I used a shuffle card. Then I took a card and I got a exploding kitten. So I think the shuffle cards should be a little bit more improved. Also, I think Maybe they can make you start with more cards. Sometimes I would start off with a small amount of cards. But then people steal your cards, and they would stall so you wouldn’t get a turn so you can’t take any cards so when the card stack shortens, you can’t place many cards. THEN, you have to take a card and most likely get a exploding kitten. But other than that, this game is great and addicting!

If you are looking for a fast pace, fun, and addicting game... this is it. I play this all the time with my friends. There is this and they have a card game that you can play in real life. I love this game and play it all the time. This game is a big time killer. I play this at home, on the road, going to dinner, and going on vacation. I’ve had this game since it came it and I still play it. Nowadays there are all these games that burn and then die out. This game doesn’t. I’ve had it since it came out and I can always get into a online game in a instance. There are always people on. You can play with friends, face CPU’s, and play online. Online is my favorite because it’s competitive, fun, and free you don’t have to pay for online. I highly recommend thus game to you.

    Honest Review

I never write reviews for games, but this game is different. This is very possibly the BEST game I have ever played!! It was PURRRFECTLY executed: simple and intuitive controls, hilarious graphics, and great audio. I love that you can just pick up the game and play right away, and as soon as you lose, you can watch till the end or leave and play again! I love the whole idea. I wish there were more expansion packs, which would create more variety for more experienced players. I also wish there were more options for free avatars, maybe earned by playing a certain card many times, or being the “diffuser” for 3 games in a row. All in all, this is a super fun game, most definitely worth 2 bucks, and I recommend it for people of all ages!

A great game that could be better

The core game is really fun. I played exploding kittens in real life and really enjoyed it and thought that the app would be a great way to play when I can’t bring the deck with me. The solo mode in this game is very good. The only improvement I would make to it would be to have harder modes because even the hardest bot is very easy to beat as well as to be able to change the number of bots you play against would be great. The biggest issue with the game is the multiplayer. The game requires you to get others to download the game, which would be fine if it was free, but not many people like to pay for apps and that makes it hard to play with anyone. The solution to this is simple and that would be to have a pass and play mode where you can set the number of players and maybe add a bot or two into the game. That way since I have it downloaded I can still play with my friends and they can play and think “wow, this is really fun” and maybe download it. I think that adding pass and play would make the game 10 times better and wouldn’t really cut down on sales. Over all a very good game, but it could use a couple of changes.

    Wow! Awso- wait what?

When I saw this here I was ecstatic because I have the card game and I thought the rule would be the same. However, many of the cards are messed up. Such as the cat cards. In the physical game, you are supposed to get two and then you put down the two to get a random card. But instead, in the app, you need 1 card and it acts as a favor card in the physical meaning that you get a card they choose. When I first got an exploding kitten, I noticed something that made me a little sad. The exploding kitten cards in the physical game have these little drawings with references and jokes on them. But in the app its just a kitten with dynamite. Lastly the addition of nope cards aren’t here. These cards, if you had them, were pretty much god in a sense that if you put down one, you can reject an action such as if someone were attacking you they just take their turn and you have a normal turn. But because of the exclusion of these cards, we lost a layer of complexity. You see, nope cards can be noped as well, meaning that if someone puts down a nope card toward your action, you can just put a nope card yourself so that the action continues. These cards can make some funny moments in which it is just two players going back and forth just playing nope cards. But, these changes don’t completely ruin the game. You can still have fun with this modified deck. It is still a fun game to play.

    Good game but.......

This is honestly a good game but me and my friend are experiencing an issue we think should be dealt with The expert level that you play with yourself is extremely difficult and we think they could also be cheating because the clawboard 3000 apparently knows what cards are underneath each other and always has good cards and to me and my friend we I think this is either a glitch or you guys really just don’t want us to win because right now we’re having a really hard time trying to win and we lose all the time we have about 21 losses and more if you put them together so yes we think that the expert level they you play with yourself should be hard but it shouldn’t be extremely hard to where you lose like 100 times because for me my friend is being really frustrating and we can’t really fix it so I was hoping that if I leave this review you guys might be able to change that a bit because me and my friend get really annoyed with this problem so please if you could fix it I strongly suggest you do because we’re having a really hard time and it gets really annoying and I’m sure other people are experiencing the same thing to.

    Fun but.....

This game is fun BUT a lot of people who play it seem to be spoil sports- if they are not obviously well in the lead they just leave the game, which is annoying & what they don't seem to realise is that fortunes can change- sometimes it looks like you're going to lose but something happens to turn things around- a strong looking player explodes etc- & you come back! That's what makes the game fun. When people just leave & don't play the game out because things aren't going their way, it's no fun for anyone, they're not being good sports at all. I understand that sometimes when people leave the game, it has nothing to do with the game & is due to something or other in the real world but it's obvious to me that a lot of people do it because they don't like how the game is going for them- it's a virtual version of tossing the game board over & storming off- very immature!! I think it would be cool if there were away for the app to take over playing the hands of people who 'leave the game' so that the people who stayed can finish the hand.

Fun but base game shouldn’t be payware

This is a great game don’t get me wrong, a lot of fun and mostly kid-friendly. But the base game only gives you access to so many avatars and only the classic deck of cards. There’s no stat tracking nor “boss” modes/goals to obtain more; they want you to pay for everything new. I’ve seen many other games where the base game was freeware, has at least some form of stat tracking, and has hard (but obtainable) ways to advance and/or get extra. I realize it gets rid of ads completely, but it gets old after having only one deck and the same 6 or 7 avatars to choose from with nothing to show for it (like a W-L record, etc). I’m not unhappy with my purchase but I would be happier if it had been free because it’s not quality enough on its own to pay for. The price they ask for the game should unlock everything, but that’s the price they ask for every single addon. Kind of a ripoff, guys.
